In this contribution, we present an evaluation of different mitigation plans to improve NO2 levels in Andalusia, a region in the south of Spain. Specifically, we consider four possible mitigation plans: the effects over NO2 concentration of apply changes in the distribution of Vehicles Park;the effect of realize traffic restrictions (affecting to the density flow of vehicles) over highways and main roads;the effect of replacement of diesel use by natural gas in urban areas;and the effect of applying new velocity limits to access to urban areas. A sophisticated air quality modelling (AQM) system has been used to evaluate these mitigation plans. AQM implemented is composed on WRF meteorological model, an emission model created by the authors and CMAQ photochemical model. AQM analyzes mitigation plans during fifteen episodes of 2011 where NO2 levels were the highest of the year;so we analyze the effect of mitigation plans in worst conditions. Results provided by the AQM system show that: 1-h maximum daily NO2 is reduced to 10μg.m-3 near circulation roads when traffic restrictions and velocity limits plans are applied (NOx emissions are reduced in 9% - 15%);1-h maximum daily NO2 is reduced to 12 μg.m-3 affecting all municipalities when changes in the distribution of Vehicles Park are applied (NOx emissions are reduced in 25% - 26%);and the replacement of fuel of urban buses does not affect considerably NO2 levels. 展开更多

Meteorological inputs are of great importance when implementing an air quality prediction system. In this contribution, the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF-ARW) model was used to compare the performance of the different cumulus, microphysics and Planet Boundary Layer parameterizations over Bogotá, Colombia. Surface observations were used for comparison and the evaluated meteorological variables include temperature, wind speed and direction and relative humidity. Differences between parameterizations were observed in meteorological variables and Betts-Miller-Janjic, Morrison 2-moment and BouLac schemes proved to be the best parameterizations for cumulus, microphysics and PBL, respectively. As a complement to this study, a WRF-Large Eddy Simulation was conducted in order to evaluate model results with finer horizontal resolution for air quality purposes. 展开更多

The main contribution of this paper is the development and demonstration of a novel methodology that can be followed to develop a simulation twin of a railway track switch system to test the functionality in a digital environment. This is important because, globally, railway track switches are used to allow trains to change routes;they are a key part of all railway networks. However, because track switches are single points of failure and safety-critical,their inability to operate correctly can cause significant delays and concomitant costs. In order to better understand the dynamic behaviour of switches during operation, this paper has developed a full simulation twin of a complete track switch system. The approach fuses finite element for the rail bending and motion, with physics-based models of the electromechanical actuator system and the control system.Hence,it provides researchers and engineers the opportunity to explore and understand the design space around the dynamic operation of new switches and switch machines before they are built. This is useful for looking at the modification or monitoring of existing switches, and it becomes even more important when new switch concepts are being considered and evaluated. The simulation is capable of running in real time or faster meaning designs can be iterated and checked interactively. The paper describes the modelling approach, demonstrates the methodology by developing the system model for a novel“REPOINT”switch system, and evaluates the system level performance against the dynamic performance requirements for the switch. In the context of that case study,it is found that the proposed new actuation system as designed can meet(and exceed)the system performance requirements, and that the fault tolerance built into the actuation ensures continued operation after a single actuator failure. 展开更多

Parameterization is a critical step in modelling ecosystem dynamics. However, assigning parameter values can be a technical challenge for structurally complex natural plant communities;uncertainties in model simulations often arise from inappropriate model parameterization. Here we compared five methods for defining community-level specific leaf area(SLA)and leaf C:N across nine contrasting forest sites along the North-South Transect of Eastern China, including biomass-weighted average for the entire plant community(AP_BW)and four simplified selective sampling(biomass-weighted average over five dominant tree species[5DT_BW],basal area weighted average over five dominant tree species[5DT_AW],biomass-weighted average over all tree species[AT_BW]and basal area weighted average over all tree species[AT_AW]).We found that the default values for SLA and leaf C:N embedded in the Biome-BGC v4.2 were higher than the five computational methods produced across the nine sites, with deviations ranging from 28.0 to 73.3%.In addition, there were only slight deviations(<10%)between the whole plant community sampling(AP_BW)predicted NPP and the four simplified selective sampling methods, and no significant difference between the predictions of AT_BW and AP_BW except the Shennongjia site. The findings in this study highlights the critical importance of computational strategies for community-level parameterization in ecosystem process modelling, and will support the choice of parameterization methods. 展开更多

The paleo-temperature(Th)data from fluid inclusions are utilized for thermal history modelling using PetroMod software.Generally, bottom hole temperature(BHT)and vitrinite reflectance(Ro)measurements are widely used in petroleum system modelling(PSM)in the oil industry for calibration purposes.Th representing the minimum temperature of fluid entrapment estimated from fluid-inclusion study provides extra support to build the thermal models for PSM.Fluid inclusion parameters along with Rock-Eval pyrolysis analysis have been used to predict the maturity of oil in terms of API gravity as well as the maturity of source rocks respectively. Two exploratory wells RV-1(Mumbai Offshore Basin)and KK4C-A-1(Kerala-Konkan Offshore Basin),India were examined and the T_(h)from most of the fluid inclusions of wells RV-1 and KK4C-A-1 fell in the oil window range of 60e140℃suggesting thermal conditions favourable for oil generation in both of the wells.T_(h)of coeval aqueous inclusions along with the Hydrocarbon Fluid inclusions(HCFIs)was used to calibrate PSM.Vital parameters show that source rocks of well RV-1 are mature and that of well KK4C-A-1 are immature. Two sets of PSM are created in terms of generation and expulsion for the dry wells RV-1 and KK4C-A-1 and calibrated each well using fluid inclusion Th and BHT.From the fluid inclusion analysis method,it is evident that hydrocarbon generation happened in both wells and the paleo-temperature indicates that the formations of both wells were subjected to temperatures in the oil window range, even though it was designated as dry wells in the present scenario. The present study highlights the application of fluid inclusion paleo-temperature(Th)during calibration instead of commonly used methods. We could obtain desirable and accurate data output from PSM using T_(h) calibration. 展开更多

Beijing faces the challenge of high levels of ozone(O_(3))pollution.In this study, the Weather Research and Forecasting model and Community Multiscale Air Qualitymodel(CMAQ)were used to simulate atmospheric O_(3) concentrations in Beijing. To investigate the formation mechanisms and source contributions of O_(3) pollution in different regions of Beijing, process analysis and the integrated source apportionmentmethodwithin the CMAQwere applied to O_(3) concentrations in the summer of 2018.The process analysis results showed that vertical diffusion was the major contributor to O_(3) concentrations at all receptor sites in Beijing,at>65.94μg/(m^(3)·hr).Gas-phase chemical reactions consumed a significant amount of O_(3) in urban and inner suburban areas(>−5.57μg/(m^(3)·hr)),while near-surface chemical reactions made positive contributions in outer suburban areas(>4.72μg/(m^(3)·hr)).The O_(3) formation chemical reactions indicated that NO titration, which removes O_(3) at night-time,mainly occurred in urban areas. The weaker chemical reactions occurring near the surface in outer suburbs suggested that suburban-area O_(3) was produced in the upper atmospheric layers and was transported vertically to the lower layers. The O_(3) source apportionment results showed that boundary contributions were the dominant contributor to O_(3) pollution in Beijing(>40%).The contribution of non-local emissions to O_(3) levels was significantly greater in the outer suburbs than in urban and inner suburban areas due to topography. This study increases the understanding of the complex processes of O_(3) formation in different areas of Beijing and informs the implementation of O_(3) control plans. 展开更多

Parkinson’s disease is chara cterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars com pacta, and although restoring striatal dopamine levels may improve symptoms,no treatment can cure or reve rse the disease itself.Stem cell therapy has a regenerative effect and is being actively studied as a candidate for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.Mesenchymal stem cells are considered a promising option due to fewer ethical concerns,a lower risk of immune rejection, and a lower risk of teratogenicity. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells and their derivatives on motor function, memory, and preservation of dopamine rgic neurons in a Parkinson’s disease animal model. We searched bibliographic databases(PubMed/MEDLINE,Embase,CENTRAL,Scopus,and Web of Science)to identify articles and included only pee r-reviewed in vivo interve ntional animal studies published in any language through J une 28,2023.The study utilized the random-effect model to estimate the 95%confidence intervals(CI)of the standard mean differences(SMD)between the treatment and control groups. We use the systematic review center for laboratory animal expe rimentation’s risk of bias tool and the collaborative approach to meta-analysis and review of animal studies checklist for study quality assessment.A total of 33studies with data from 840 Parkinson’s disease model animals were included in the meta-analysis.Treatment with mesenchymal stem cells significantly improved motor function as assessed by the amphetamine-induced rotational test.Among the stem cell types, the bone marrow MSCs with neurotrophic factor group showed la rgest effect size(SMD[95%CI]=-6.21[-9.50 to-2.93],P=0.0001,I^(2)=0.0%).The stem cell treatment group had significantly more tyrosine hydroxylase positive dopamine rgic neurons in the striatum([95%CI]=1.04[0.59 to 1.49],P=0.0001,I^(2)=65.1%)and substantia nigra(SMD[95%CI]=1.38[0.89 to 1.87],P=0.0001,I^(2)=75.3%),indicating a protective effect on dopaminergic neurons.Subgroup analysis of the amphetamine-induced rotation test showed a significant reduction only in the intracranial-striatum route(SMD[95%CI]=-2.59[-3.25 to-1.94],P=0.0001,I^(2)=74.4%).The memory test showed significant improvement only in the intravenous route(SMD[95%CI]=4.80[1.84 to 7.76],P=0.027,I^(2)=79.6%).Mesenchymal stem cells have been shown to positively impact motor function and memory function and protect dopaminergic neurons in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease.Further research is required to determine the optimal stem cell types, modifications, transplanted cell numbe rs,and delivery methods for these protocols. 展开更多

Powered by advanced information technology, more and more complex systems are exhibiting characteristics of the cyber-physical-social systems(CPSS).In this context, computational experiments method has emerged as a novel approach for the design, analysis, management, control, and integration of CPSS,which can realize the causal analysis of complex systems by means of“algorithmization”of“counterfactuals”.However, because CPSS involve human and social factors(e.g.,autonomy,initiative,and sociality),it is difficult for traditional design of experiment(DOE)methods to achieve the generative explanation of system emergence. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an integrated approach to the design of computational experiments, incorporating three key modules:1)Descriptive module:Determining the influencing factors and response variables of the system by means of the modeling of an artificial society;2)Interpretative module:Selecting factorial experimental design solution to identify the relationship between influencing factors and macro phenomena;3)Predictive module:Building a meta-model that is equivalent to artificial society to explore its operating laws. Finally,a case study of crowd-sourcing platforms is presented to illustrate the application process and effectiveness of the proposed approach, which can reveal the social impact of algorithmic behavior on“rider race”. 展开更多

In this paper, the explicit state-space model for a multi-inverter system including grid-following inverter-based generators(IBGs)and grid-forming IBGs is developed by the two-level component connection method(CCM),which modularized inverter control blocks at the primary level and IBGs at the secondary level.Based on the comprehensive state-space model representing full order of system dynamics, eigenvalues of the overall system are thoroughly analyzed, identifying potential adverse impacts of not only grid-following inverters, but also grid forming inverters on the system small-signal stability, with the underlying principle of oscillations also understood.Numerical and simulation results validate effectiveness of the proposed methodology on IEEE benchmarking 39-bus system. 展开更多

Aquifer thermal energy storage(ATES)system has received attention for heating or cooling buildings. However,it is well known that land subsidence becomes a major environmental concern for ATES projects.Yet,the effect of temperature on land subsidence has received practically no attention in the past. This paper presents a thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM)coupled numerical study on an ATES system in Shanghai,China.Four water wells were installed for seasonal heating and cooling of an agriculture greenhouse. The target aquifer at a depth of 74e104.5 m consisted of alternating layers of sand and silty sand and was covered with clay.Groundwater level, temperature, and land subsidence data from 2015 to 2017 were collected using field monitoring instruments.Constrained by data,we constructed a field scale three-dimensional(3D)model using TOUGH(Transport of Unsaturated Groundwater and Heat)and FLAC3D(Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua)equipped with a thermo-elastoplastic constitutive model. The effectiveness of the numerical model was validated by field data. The model was used to reproduce groundwater flow, heat transfer, and mechanical responses in porous media over three years and capture the thermo-and pressure-induced land subsidence. The results show that the maximum thermoinduced land subsidence accounts for about 60%of the total subsidence. The thermo-induced subsidence is slightly greater in winter than that in summer, and more pronounced near the cold well area than the hot well area. This study provides some valuable guidelines for controlling land subsidence caused by ATES systems installed in soft soils. 展开更多

Abiotic factors play an important role in species localisation, but biotic and anthropogenic predictors must also be considered in distribution modelling for models to be biologically meaningful. In this study,we formalised the biotic predictors of nesting sites for four threatened Caucasian vultures by including species distribution models(wild ungulates, nesting tree species)as biotic layers in the vulture Maxent models.Maxent was applied in the R dismo package and the best set of the model parameters were defined in the R ENMeval package.Performance metrics were continuous Boyce index,Akaike's information criterion, the area under receiver operating curve and true skill statistics. We also calculated and evaluated the null models.Kernel density estimation method was applied to assess the overlap of vulture ecological niches in the environmental space. The accessibility of anthropogenic food resources was estimated using the Path Distance measure that considers elevation gradient. The availability of pine forests(Scots Pine)and wild ungulates(Alpine Chamois and Caucasian Goat)contributed the most(29.6%and 34.3%)to Cinereous Vulture(Aegypius monachus)nesting site model.Wild ungulate distribution also contributed significantly(about 46%)to the Bearded Vulture(Gypaetus barbatus)model. This scavenger nests in the highlands of the Caucasus at a minimum distance of 5–10 km from anthropogenic facilities. In contrast, livestock as a food source was most important in colony distribution of Griffon Vulture(Gyps fulvus). The contribution of distances to settlements and agricultural facilities to the model was 45%.The optimal distance from Egyptian Vulture(Neophron percnopterus)nesting sites to settlements was only 3–10 km,to livestock facilities no more than 15 km with the factor contribution of about 57%.Excluding the wild ungulate availability, the ecological niches of studied vultures overlapped significantly.Despite similar foraging and nesting requirements,Caucasian vultures are not pronounced nesting and trophic competitors due to the abundance of nesting sites, anthropogenic food sources and successful niche sharing. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Oesophageal cancer is a frequently observed and lethal malignancy worldwide.Surgical resection remains a realistic option for curative intent in the early stages of the disease. However, the decision to undertake oesophagectomy is significant as it exposes the patient to a substantial risk of morbidity and mortality. Therefore, appropriate patient selection, counselling and resource allocation is important. Many tools have been developed to aid surgeons in appropriate decision-making.AIM To examine all multivariate risk models that use preoperative and intraoperative information and establish which have the most clinical utility.METHODS A systematic review of the MEDLINE,EMBASE and Cochrane databases was conducted from 2000-2020.The search terms applied were((Oesophagectomy)AND(Risk OR predict OR model OR score)AND(Outcomes OR complications OR morbidity OR mortality OR length of stay OR anastomotic leak)).The applied inclusion criteria were articles assessing multivariate based tools using exclusively preoperatively available data to predict perioperative patient outcomes following oesophagectomy. The exclusion criteria were publications that described models requiring intra-operative or post-operative data and articles appraising only univariate predictors such as American Society of Anesthesiologists score, cardiopulmonary fitness or pre-operative sarcopenia.Articles that exclusively assessed distant outcomes such as long-term survival were excluded as were publications using cohorts mixed with other surgical procedures. The articles generated from each search were collated, processed and then reported in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. All risk models were appraised for clinical credibility, methodological quality, performance, validation, and clinical effectiveness.RESULTS The initial search of composite databases yielded 8715 articles which reduced to 5827 following the deduplication process. After title and abstract screening,197 potentially relevant texts were retrieved for detailed review.Twenty-seven published studies were ultimately included which examined twenty-one multivariate risk models utilising exclusively preoperative data. Most models examined were clinically credible and were constructed with sound methodological quality, but model performance was often insufficient to prognosticate patient outcomes.Three risk models were identified as being promising in predicting perioperative mortality, including the National Quality Improvement Project surgical risk calculator, revised STS score and the Takeuchi model. Two studies predicted perioperative major morbidity, including the predicting postoperative complications score and prognostic nutritional index-multivariate models. Many of these models require external validation and demonstration of clinical effectiveness.CONCLUSION Whilst there are several promising models in predicting perioperative oesophagectomy outcomes, more research is needed to confirm their validity and demonstrate improved clinical outcomes with the adoption of these models. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Oesophageal cancer is the eighth most common malignancy worldwide and is associated with a poor prognosis.Oesophagectomy remains the best prospect for a cure if diagnosed in the early disease stages. However, the procedure is associated with significant morbidity and mortality and is undertaken only after careful consideration.Appropriate patient selection, counselling and resource allocation is essential.Numerous risk models have been devised to guide surgeons in making these decisions.AIM To evaluate which multivariate risk models, using intraoperative information with or without preoperative information, best predict perioperative oesophagectomy outcomes.METHODS A systematic review of the MEDLINE,EMBASE and Cochrane databases was undertaken from 2000-2020.The search terms used were[(Oesophagectomy)AND(Model OR Predict OR Risk OR score)AND(Mortality OR morbidity OR complications OR outcomes OR anastomotic leak OR length of stay)].Articles were included if they assessed multivariate based tools incorporating preoperative and intraoperative variables to forecast patient outcomes after oesophagectomy.Articles were excluded if they only required preoperative or any post-operative data.Studies appraising univariate risk predictors such as preoperative sarcopenia, cardiopulmonary fitness and American Society of Anesthesiologists score were also excluded. The review was conducted following the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses model. All captured risk models were appraised for clinical credibility, methodological quality, performance, validation and clinical effectiveness.RESULTS Twenty published studies were identified which examined eleven multivariate risk models.Eight of these combined preoperative and intraoperative data and the remaining three used only intraoperative values.Only two risk models were identified as promising in predicting mortality, namely the Portsmouth physiological and operative severity score for the enumeration of mortality and morbidity(POSSUM)and POSSUM scores.A further two studies, the intraoperative factors and Esophagectomy surgical Apgar score based nomograms, adequately forecasted major morbidity. The latter two models are yet to have external validation and none have been tested for clinical effectiveness.CONCLUSION Despite the presence of some promising models in forecasting perioperative oesophagectomy outcomes, there is more research required to externally validate these models and demonstrate clinical benefit with the adoption of these models guiding postoperative care and allocating resources. 展开更多

Visible light communication(VLC)has a paramount role in industrial implementations, especially for better energy efficiency, high speed-data rates, and low susceptibility to interference. However, since studies on VLC for industrial implementations are in scarcity, areas concerning illumination optimisation and communication performances demand further investigation. As such, this paper presents a new modelling of light fixture distribution for a warehouse model to provide acceptable illumination and communication performances. The proposed model was evaluated based on various semi-angles at half power(SAAHP)and different height levels for several parameters, including received power, signal to noise ratio(SNR),and bit error rate(BER).The results revealed improvement in terms of received power and SNR with 30 Mbps data rate.Various modulations were studied to improve the link quality, whereby better average BER values of 5.55×10^(−15) and 1.06×10^(−10) had been achieved with 4 PAM and 8 PPM,respectively. The simulation outcomes are indeed viable for the practical warehouse model. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Liver transplantation(LT)is a life-saving intervention for patients with end-stage liver disease. However, the equitable allocation of scarce donor organs remains a formidable challenge.Prognostic tools are pivotal in identifying the most suitable transplant candidates.Traditionally, scoring systems like the model for end-stage liver disease have been instrumental in this process.Nevertheless, the landscape of prognostication is undergoing a transformation with the integration of machine learning(ML)and artificial intelligence models.AIM To assess the utility of ML models in prognostication for LT,comparing their performance and reliability to established traditional scoring systems.METHODS Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines,we conducted a thorough and standardized literature search using the PubMed/MEDLINE database. Our search imposed no restrictions on publication year, age,or gender.Exclusion criteria encompassed non-English studies, review articles, case reports, conference papers, studies with missing data,or those exhibiting evident methodological flaws.RESULTS Our search yielded a total of 64 articles, with 23 meeting the inclusion criteria.Among the selected studies,60.8%originated from the United States and China combined.Only one pediatric study met the criteria.Notably,91%of the studies were published within the past five years.ML models consistently demonstrated satisfactory to excellent area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values(ranging from 0.6 to 1)across all studies, surpassing the performance of traditional scoring systems.Random forest exhibited superior predictive capabilities for 90-d mortality following LT,sepsis, and acute kidney injury(AKI).In contrast, gradient boosting excelled in predicting the risk of graft-versus-host disease, pneumonia, and AKI.CONCLUSION This study underscores the potential of ML models in guiding decisions related to allograft allocation and LT,marking a significant evolution in the field of prognostication. 展开更多

The present study aims to examine the suitability of two commonly used assumptions that simplify modelling metoceanconditions for designing offshore wind turbines in the South China Sea (SCS). The first assumption assumes thatjoint N-year extreme wind and wave events can be independently estimated and subsequently combined. The secondone assumes peak wind and waves can be modelled as occurring simultaneously during a tropical cyclone (TC) event. To better understand the potential TC activity, a set of 10000 years synthetic TC events are generated. The wind fieldmodel and the Mike 21 spectral wave model are employed to model the TC-induced hazards. Subsequently, theeffect of the assumptions is evaluated by analyzing the peak structural response of both monopile and semisubmersibleoffshore wind turbines during TC events. The results demonstrate that the examined assumptions are generally accurate.By assessing the implications of these assumptions, valuable insights are obtained, which can inform andimprove the modelling of TC-induced hazards in the SCS region. 展开更多

Concrete slabs are widely used in modern railways to increase the inherent resilient quality of the tracks, provide safe and smooth rides, and reduce the maintenance frequency. In this paper, the elastic performance of a novel slab trackform for high-speed railways is investigated using three-dimensional finite element modelling in Abaqus. It is then compared to the performance of a ballasted track.First, slab and ballasted track models are developed to replicate the full-scale testing of track sections.Once the models are calibrated with the experimental results, the novel slab model is developed and compared against the calibrated slab track results. The slab and ballasted track models are then extended to create linear dynamic models, considering the track geodynamics, and simulating train passages at various speeds, for which the Ledsgard documented case was used to validate the models.Trains travelling at low and high speeds are analysed to investigate the track deflections and the wave propagation in the soil, considering the issues associated with critical speeds.Various train loading methods are discussed, and the most practical approach is retained and described. Moreover, correlations are made between the geotechnical parameters of modern high-speed rail and conventional standards. It is found that considering the same ground condition, the slab track deflections are considerably smaller than those of the ballasted track at high speeds, while they show similar behaviour at low speeds. 展开更多

Mountain streams act as conveyors of sediments within the river continuum, where the physical transport of sediments between river reaches through the catchment or between individual parts(e.g.,between hillslopes and channels)of the catchment is assumed. This study focused on sediment connectivity analysis in the SlavíčRiver catchment in the MoravskoslezskéBeskydy Mts in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. The connectivity index and connectivity index target modelling were combined with an analysis of anthropogenic interventions.Additionally, field mapping, grain size of bed sediments and stream power analysis were used to obtain information about connectivity in the catchment.Based on the analysis and obtained results, terrain topography is the current main driving factor affecting the connectivity of sediment movement in the SlavíčRiver catchment. However, the modelling provided valuable information about high sediment connectivity despite different recent land use conditions(highly forested area of the catchment)than those in historical times from the 16th to 19th centuries when the SlavíčRiver catchment was highly deforested and sediment connectivity was probably higher. The analysis of anthropogenic interventions, field mapping, grain size of bed sediments and stream power analysis revealed more deceleration of sediment movement through the catchment, decreased sediment connectivity with bed erosion, and gradual river channel process transformation in some reaches.Field mapping has identified various natural formations and human-induced changes impacting the longitudinal and lateral connectivity in the SlavíčRiver. For instance, embankments along 48%of the river's length, both on the right and left banks, significantly hinder lateral sediment supply to the channel.Stream power index analysis indicates increased energy levels in the flowing water in the river's upper reaches(up to 404.8 W m^(-2)).This high energy is also observed in certain downstream sections(up to 337.6 W m^(-2)),where it is influenced by human activities. These conditions lead to intensified erosion processes, playing a crucial role in sediment connectivity.Similar observations were described in recent studies that pointed out the long-term human interventions on many streams draining European mountains, where a decrease in sediment connectivity in these streams is linked with sediment deficits and the transformation of processes forming channels. 展开更多

Four-wheel independently driven electric vehicles(FWID-EV)endow a flexible and scalable control framework to improve vehicle performance. This paper integrates the torque vectoring and active suspension system(ASS)to enhance the vehicle’s longitudinal and vertical motion control performance. While the nonlinear characteristic of the tire model leads to a relatively heavier computational burden. To facilitate the controller design and ease the load,a half-vehicle dynamics system is built and simplified to the linear-time-varying(LTV)model.Then a model predictive controller is developed by formulating the objective function by comprehensively considering the safety,energy-saving and comfort requirements. The in-wheel motor efficiency and the power loss of tire slip are treated as optimization indices in this work to reduce energy consumption. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified through the rapid-control-prototype(RCP)test.The results demonstrate the enhancement of the energy-saving as well as comfort on the basis of vehicle stability. 展开更多
