The modified model works in a competitive output manner which results in its local representation property. While studying on line, only a few parameters need to be regulated. So the model has the merits of fast learning and on line self organizing modeling. The control algorithm is simple, adaptive and useful in multivariable and time delay systems. Applying the algorithm in a paper making system, simulation shows its good effect.展开更多

The lateral loads were applied under load- and displacement-controlled methods at the loading eccentricity ratios of 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5. Results show that, in the displacement-controlled test, the deflection-softening behavior of load-deflection curves for MSCs was observed, and the softening degree of the load-deflection response increased with the increasing external skirt length or the decreasing loading eccentricity. It was also found that the rotation center of the MSC at failure determined by the load-controlled method is slightly lower than that by the displacement-controlled method. The calculated MSC capacity based on the rotation center position in serviceability limit state is relatively conservative, compared with the calculated capacity based on the rotation center position in the ultimate limit state. In the limit state, the passive earth pressures opposite the loading direction under load- and displacement-controlled methods decrease by 46% and 74% corresponding to peak values, respectively; however, the passive earth pressures in the loading direction at failure only decrease by approximately 3% and 7%, compared with their peak values.展开更多

The new MGA algorithm is proposed from the genetic algorithm with important additional strategies, and consequently yields a faster convergence and a more accurate search. Firstly, MGA-based identification method is used to identify the parameters of the nonlinear PAM manipulator described by an ARX model in the presence of white noise and this result will be validated by MGA and compared with the simple genetic algorithm (GA) and LMS (Least mean-squares) method. Secondly, the intrinsic features of the hysteresis as well as other nonlinear disturbances existing intuitively in the PAM system are estimated online by a Modified Recursive Least Square (MRLS) method in identification experiment. Finally, a highly efficient self-tuning control algorithm Minimum Variance Control (MVC) is taken for tracking the joint angle position trajectory of this PAM manipulator. Experiment results are included to demonstrate the excellent performance of the MGA algorithm in the NARX model-based MVC control system of the PAM system. These results can be applied to model, identify and control other highly nonlinear systems as well.展开更多

However, the stability of nanobubbles remains far from being understood. How to control the formation of nanobubbles is the key issue for understanding their long lifetime. In this work, using molecular dynamics simulations we modify the substrate (graphene) with charge dipoles in which the local properties of the surface could be changed. Nanobubbles could be stabilized on the local hydrophobic area and modified area with the hydrophilic boundary where gas nuclei are deposited beforehand. Those results provide two methods to control the nucleation of gas nanobubbles and fix them on a target area.展开更多

Because of the nonlinear terms of the gyroscope system, the system exhibits chaotic motions. Occasionally, the extreme sensitivity to initial states in a system operating in chaotic mode can be very destructive to the system because of unpredictable behavior. In order to improve the performance of a dynamic system or avoid the chaotic phenomena, it is necessary to control a chaotic system with a periodic motion beneficial for working with a particular condition. As chaotic signals are usually broadband and noise like, synchronized chaotic systems can be used as cipher generators for secure communication. This paper presents chaos synchronization of two identical chaotic motions of symmetric gyroscopes. Using the variable structure control technique, control laws are established which guarantees the chaos control and the modified projective synchronization. By Lyapunov stability theory, control lows are proposed to ensure the stability of the controlled and synchronized system. Numerical simulations are presented to verify the proposed control and the synchronization approach. This paper demonstrates that synchronization and anti-synchronization can coexist in dissipative gyroscope systems via variable structure control.展开更多

In the meantime, discussions are made on the influence of residual buoyancy and restoring moment.A novel S-plane controller established on sliding mode control( SMC) is hereby proposed in this study.
