The surface fracture toughness is an important mechanical parameter for studying the failure behavior of air plasma sprayed(APS)thermal barrier coatings(TBCs).As APS TBCs are typical multilayer porous ceramic material...The surface fracture toughness is an important mechanical parameter for studying the failure behavior of air plasma sprayed(APS)thermal barrier coatings(TBCs).As APS TBCs are typical multilayer porous ceramic materials,the direct applications of the traditional single edge notched beam(SENB)method that ignores those typical structural characters may cause errors.To measure the surface fracture toughness more accurately,the effects of multilayer and porous characters on the fracture toughness of APS TBCs should be considered.In this paper,a modified single edge V-notched beam(MSEVNB)method with typical structural characters is developed.According to the finite element analysis(FEA),the geometry factor of the multilayer structure is recalculated.Owing to the narrower V-notches,a more accurate critical fracture stress is obtained.Based on the Griffith energy balance,the reduction of the crack surface caused by micro-defects is corrected.The MSEVNB method can measure the surface fracture toughness more accurately than the SENB method.展开更多

The aeroelastic stability of rotating beams with elastic restraints is investigated.The coupled bending-torsional Euler-Bernoulli beam and Timoshenko beam models are adopted for the structural modeling.The Greenberg a...The aeroelastic stability of rotating beams with elastic restraints is investigated.The coupled bending-torsional Euler-Bernoulli beam and Timoshenko beam models are adopted for the structural modeling.The Greenberg aerodynamic model is used to describe the unsteady aerodynamic forces.The additional centrifugal stiffness effect and elastic boundary conditions are considered in the form of potential energy.A modified Fourier series method is used to assume the displacement field function and solve the governing equation.The convergence and accuracy of the method are verified by comparison of numerical results.Then,the flutter analysis of the rotating beam structure is carried out,and the critical rotational velocity of the flutter is predicted.The results show that the elastic boundary reduces the critical flutter velocity of the rotating beam,and the elastic range of torsional spring is larger than the elastic range of linear spring.展开更多

The MTGM is a non-intercept indi...Recently we measured with the Modified Three Gradient Method(MTGM) the beam emittance of an injector constructed in 2012, which was designed to provide a 2.4 kA, 2.6 MeV electron beam. The MTGM is a non-intercept indirect method, which is based on the three gradient type measurements of beam profiles and subsequent data processing which helps to get the least square solution to the beam emittance. Beam profiles under different currents of guiding coil are measured using Cerenkov radiation given off by a piece of quartz glass in the beam tube, which is recorded with a CCD camera. MTGM Code is developed to realize the data fitting as well as beam transport simulation, in which both the σ matrix method and the numerical solution of root-mean-square beam envelope equation are used. In the paper,the analytic static deflection solutions of uniform cantilever beams resting on nonlinear elastic rotational boundary are developed by the Modified Adomian Decomposition Method(MADM).If the applied force ...In the paper,the analytic static deflection solutions of uniform cantilever beams resting on nonlinear elastic rotational boundary are developed by the Modified Adomian Decomposition Method(MADM).If the applied force function is an analytic function,then the deflection function can be derived and expressed in Maclaurin series.A recurrence relation for the coefficients of the Maclaurin series is derived.It is shown that the proposed solution method is accurate and efficient.The solution method can be successfully applied to the uniform cantilever beam and non-linear elastic rotational boundary problem.展开更多
