A series of Pd/MIL-53(Al) heterogeneous bifunctional catalysts with di erent Pd contents were prepared by an impregnation method. The prepared metal–organic frameworks MIL-53(Al) and catalysts were characterized by XRD, SEM, HRTEM,FT-IR and N2 adsorption/desorption techniques. The results showed that MIL-53(Al) was synthesized successfully, and the structure was unchanged during and after the preparation of the catalysts. The Pd nanoparticles(NPs) with an average particle size of 4.6 nm were uniformly dispersed on the MIL-53(Al). The catalyst exhibited good catalytic activity in the selective oxidation of liquid methanol to methyl formate. Under the conditions of 150 °C, 2 MPa O2 and solvent-free for5 h, the conversion of methanol could reach 60.3%, and the selectivity of methyl formate was up to 62.2%. In addition, the Pd/MIL-53(Al) bifunctional catalyst exhibited excellent stability and maintained high catalytic activity after five cycles. 展开更多

Anatase TiO_(2)nanospindles containing 89%exposed{101}facets(TIO_(2)-101)and nanosheets with 77%exposed{001}facets(TiO_(2)-001)were hydrothermally synthesized and used as supports for Pd catalysts.The effects of the TiO_(2)materials on the catalytic performance of Pd/TiO_(2)-101 and Pd/TiO_(2)-001 catalysts were investigated in the selective hydrogenation of acetylene to polymer-grade ethylene.The PdfTiO_(2)-101 catalyst exhibited enhanced performance in terms of acetylene conversion and ethylene yield.To understand these effects,the catalysts were characterized by H_(2)temperature-programmed desorption(H_(2)-TPD),H_(2)temperature-programmed reduction(H=-TPR),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),pulse CO chemisorption,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).The TEM and CO chemisorption results confirmed that Pd nanoparticles(NPs)on the TiO_(2)-101 support had a smaller average particle size(1.53 nm)and a higher dispersion(15.95%)than those on the TiO_(2)-001 support(average particle size of 4.36 nm and dispersion of 9.06%).The smaller particle size and higher dispersion of Pd on the Pd/TiO_(2)-101 catalyst provided more reaction active sites,which contributed to the improved catalytic activity of this supported catalyst. 展开更多

Pd/oxide/cordierite monolithic catalysts(oxide = Al_2O_3, SiO_2 and SiO_2\\Al_2O_3) were prepared by the impregnation method. The results of ICP, XRD, SEM–EDX, XPS and N_2 adsorption–desorption measurements revealed that the Pd penetration depth increased with increasing the thickness of oxide layer, and the catalysts with Al_2O_3 layers had the larger pore size than those with SiO_2 and SiO_2\\Al_2O_3 layers. Catalytic hydrogenation of 2-ethylanthraquinone(eA Q), a key step of the H_2O_2 production by the anthraquinone process, over the various monolithic catalysts(60 °C, atmosphere pressure) showed that the monolithic catalyst with the moderate thickness of Al_2O_3 layer(about 6 μm) exhibited the highest conversion of e AQ(99.1%) and hydrogenation efficiency(10.0 g·L^(-1)). This could be ascribed to the suitable Pd penetration depth and the larger pore size, which provides a balance between the distribution of Pd and accessibility of active sites by the reactants. 展开更多

Palladium(Pd)‐based catalysts are essential to drive high‐performance Suzuki coupling reactions,which are powerful tools for the synthesis of functional organic compounds.Herein,we developed a solution‐rapid‐annealing process to stabilize nitrogen‐mesoporous carbon supported Pd single‐atom/cluster(Pd/NMC)material,which provided a catalyst with superior performance for Suzuki coupling reactions.In comparison with commercial palladium/carbon(Pd/C)catalysts,the Pd/NMC catalyst exhibited significantly boosted activity(100%selectivity and 95%yield)and excellent stability(almost no decay in activity after 10 reuse cycles)for the Suzuki coupling reactions of chlorobenzenes,together with superior yield and excellent selectivity in the fields of the board scope of the reactants.Moreover,our newly developed rapid annealing process of precursor solutions is applied as a generalized method to stabilize metal clusters(e.g.Pd,Pt,Ru),opening new possibilities in the construction of efficient highly dispersed metal atom and sub‐nanometer cluster catalysts with high performance. 展开更多

In the current study simultaneous reactions of hydrodesulfurization(HDS) of dibenzothiophene(DBT) and reforming of methanol in a micro-autoclave reactor were studied over bi-metallic(Co-Mo/Al2O3 and Ni-Mo/Al2O3) and tri-metallic(Pd-Co-Mo/Al2O3 and Pd-Ni-Mo/Al2O3) catalyst systems which were prepared by incipient impregnation method.In situ hydrogen utilization and low Pd loadings were the major targets of this study.For comparison purpose,catalytic activity was separately determined for both the methanol reforming and HDS of DBT reactions as well.Ni based catalysts were confirmed with better activity than Co ones for both the reactions with Pd promoted ones ranking at the top i.e.Pd-Ni-Mo/Al2O3 > Ni-Mo/Al2O3 > Pd-Co-Mo/Al2O3 > Co-Mo/Al2O3 where Pd-Ni-Mo/Al2O3 showed 91% DBT conversion at 380 ℃ and 12 h reaction time.Some of the selected organic additives on catalytic activity were tested for their effect toward HDS reaction which was unique with close relation to their chemical nature.Reaction products were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed via HPLC and GC-MS techniques respectively which helped in elucidating reaction mechanism. 展开更多

Aerogel Pd/(Ce0.33Zr0.66O2)SiO2 catalysts (CeZry) were prepared with variable Ce and Zr loadings (molar ratio Ce/Zr = 1/2) by combining sol-gel and impregnation methods. First, N2-physisorption was used to investigate the texture evolution. Then, H2-chimisorption and TEM were performed to study the effect on particle dispersion. After, TPR was used to determine the catalyst reducibility. Furthermore, XPS characterization was done to identify the palladium oxidation state and to evaluate the Pd-support interaction. Finally, the prepared catalysts were tested in methane combustion to assess their catalytic activity. The obtained results showed that, when the Zr and Ce loadings are varied between 0% and 8% and between 0% and 6% respectively, the BET surface area was increased from 615 to 744 m2/g, the porosity diameter from 45.7 to 83.6 &#197;, the Pd particle diameter from 5.2 to 7.0 nm, the CeO2 and ZrO2 particle size from 0 to 68 nm, the reduction temperature shift reached 16°C, the Pd binding energy shift attained 0.6 eV, but an optimum amounts of Zr (4 wt.%) and Ce (3 wt.%) are needed to maximize the PdO reducibility and to enhance the catalytic activity. In effect, 100% conversion of methane was reached at around 415°C on the CeZr4 catalyst. 展开更多

Pd-based catalysts modified by cobalt were prepared by co-impregnation and sequential impregnation methods,and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD),N2 adsorption/desorption (Brunauer-Emmet-Teller method),CO-chemisorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).The activity of Pd catalysts was tested in the simulated exhaust gas from lean-burn natural gas vehicles.The effect of Co on the performance of water poisoning resistance for Pd catalysts was estimated in the simulated exhaust gas with and without the presence of water vapor.It was found that the effect of Co significantly depended on the preparation process.PdCo/La-Al2O3 catalyst prepared by co-impregnation exhibited better water-resistant performance.The results of XPS indicated that both CoAl2O4 and Co3O4 were present in the Pd catalysts modified by Co.For the catalyst prepared by sequential impregnation method,the ratio of CoAl2O4/Co3O4 was higher than that of the catalyst prepared by co-impregnation method.It could be concluded that Co3O4 played an important role in improving water-resistant performance. 展开更多

It was found that the above catalysts have good catalytic hydrogenation activity for carbon - carbon double bonds systems and reusability. Furthermore, XPS and IR spectra shouted that active component in the composite catalysts is atomic Pd(0). An addition of a small amount of Fe2O3 has a promotive action upon hydrogenation activity of the catalysts, which indicated that there are some strong interactions (electron transfer) between Pd(0) and Fe(Ⅲ) species. Based on these results, a possible catalytic hydrogenation mechanism was also suggested. 展开更多

The structure and TPR/TPO properties were studied by XRD, TPR, TPO techniques. The results show that the addition of Ce-Zr oxides improves the thermal stability of alumina and PdO. The Pd/Ce0.2Zr0.8/Al2O3 exhibits the highest activity and thermal stability for methane combustion. 展开更多

Four processest CO dissociation, coupling of CO and H to produce CHO.insertion of CO to M-CH3; insertion of CH2 to M-CH3 have been calculated. We compared the degree of CO bond activation and the banters of the foregoing processes for these four catalysts, it can be shown that Ni/SiO2 is a methanation catalyst, Ru/SiO2 and Rh/SiO2 can produce C2-oxygenated compound (acetaldehyde), especially Rh/SiO2 is a good catalyst for producing it, and Pd/SiO2 is a methanol Synthesis catalyst. 展开更多

A series of CoPd/KIT-6 bimetallic catalysts with various Co:Pd molar ratios at different calcination temperatures were prepared and used for the direct synthesis of H_(2)O_(2) from H_(2) and O_(2).These catalysts were characterized by nitrogen adsorption-desorption,low and wide-angle X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),elemental mapping and energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX)methods.It was found that the particle size,electronic interactions,morphology,and textural properties of these catalysts as well as their catalytic activity in the reaction of H_(2) with O_(2) were affected by Co addition and different calcination temperatures.Also,the results showed that while the H_(2)O_(2) selectivity depends on Pd^(2+) species,the H_(2) conversion is related to Pd0 active sites.Among these catalysts,CoPd/KIT-6 calcined at 350℃(CoPd/KIT-350 catalyst)showed the best catalytic activity with 50%of H_(2)O_(2) selectivity and 51%conversion of H_(2). 展开更多

The efficient citral hydrogenation was achieved in aqueous media using Pd/CMS and alkali additives like K<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub>. The alkali concentrations, reaction temperature and the Pd metal content were optimized to enhance the citral hydrogenation under aqueous media. In the absence of alkali, citral hydrogenation was low and addition of alkali promoted to ~92% hydrogenation without reduction in the selectivity to citronellal. The alkali addition appears to be altered the palladium sites. The pore size distribution reveals that the pore size of these catalysts is in the range of 0.96 to 0.7 nm. The palladium active sites are also quite uniform based on the TPR data. The catalytic parameters are correlated well with the activity data. 展开更多

The effects of palladium addition and the reduction methods on Au/TiO2 were investigated. Pd was loaded on TiO2 firstly by incipient-wetness impregnation, Au was then loaded by deposition-precipitation method. The nominal loadings of Au and Pd were 1 wt% and 0.01 wt%. The bimetallic catalysts were reduced by heating at 453 K, by flowing H2 at 423 K, or by NaBH4 at 298 K. The catalysts were characterized by ICP, XRD, TEM, HRTEM, TPR and XPS. Hydrogenation of p-chloronitrobenzene was carried out at 1.2 MPa H2 pressure and 353 K. The results showed that even adding very small amount of Pd could enhance activity and selectivity of p-chloroaniline significantly. Pd and Au formed alloy and Pd could donate partial electron to Au. Pd metal on the surface of alloy could adsorb hydrogen and enhanced the activity. The pretreatment methods did not change particle size significantly, all were below 4 nm. The sample reduced by NaBH4 could have higher concentration of Au0 and sustain small Au particle size, resulting in high activity. 展开更多

A novel Fe-Pd bifunctional catalyst supported on mesh-type γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al was prepared and applied in the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). The monolithic mesh-type Fe-Pd/γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al bifunctional catalyst could be separated from the solution directly and could synthesize H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> in situ. The characterization results showed that Fe could improve the dispersion of Pd<sup>0</sup>, and the electronic interactions between Pd and Fe could increase the Pd<sup>0</sup> contents on the catalyst, which increased the productivity of H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>. Furthermore, DFT calculations proved that the addition of Fe could inhibit the dissociation of O<sub>2</sub> and promote the nondissociative hydrogenation of O<sub>2</sub> on the surface of Fe-Pd/γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al, which resulted in the increasement of H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> selectivity. Therefore, Fe-Pd/ γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic activity in the in-situ synthesis of H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> and the degradation of RhB due to the synergistic effects between Pd and Fe on the catalyst. It provided a new idea for the design of bifunctional electro-Fenton catalysts. Ten cycles of experiments showed that the catalytic activity of Fe-Pd/γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al catalyst could be maintained for a long time. 展开更多

The reduction of nitrate contaminant in groundwater has gained renewed and intensive attention due to the environmental problems and health risks. Catalytic denetrification presents one of the most promising approaches for the removal of nitrate from water. Catalytic nitrate reduction from water by powder catalysts and catalytic membrane in a batch reactor was studied. And the effects of the initial concentration, the amounts of catalyst, and the flux H 2 on the nitrate reduction were also discussed. The results demonstrated that nitrate reduction activity and the selectivity to nitrogen gas were mainly controlled by diffusion limitations and the mass transfer of the reactants. The selectivity can improved while retaining a high catalytic activity under controlled diffusion condition or the intensification of the mass transfer, and a good reaction condition. The total nitrogen removal efficiency reached above 80%. Moreover, catalytic membrane can create a high effective gas/liquid/solid interface, and show a good selectivity to nitrogen in comparative with the powder catalyst, the selectivity to nitrogen was improved from 73 4% to 89 4%. 展开更多

This method is very simple. The average size of the Pd particles in the Pd/C catalyst prepared with the improved complex reduction method is as small as about 2.1 nm and the Pd particles in the Pd/C catalyst possess an excellent uniformity. The Pd/C catalyst shows a high electrocatalytic activity and stability for the formic acid oxidation. 展开更多
