对高阶激波捕捉格式的性能进行了系统的测评,重点分析了Suresh和Huynh(1997)所提出的Monotonicity-Preserving格式的性能.结果表明Monotonicity-Preserving格式的性能显著优于原始WENO(Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory)格式,和改进型WENO格式相当.对格式的分析进一步表明,迎风型的激波捕捉格式在湍流模拟方面的性能都不及高阶中心格式,其原因归结为激波捕捉格式所包含的线性和非线性耗散.因此,改进高阶激波捕捉格式的关键在于同时降低格式的线性耗散和非线性耗散,以提高格式对湍流脉动能量的保持和对小尺度脉动结构的捕捉能力.

In this paper,by deriving an inequality involving the generating function of the Bernoulli numbers,the author introduces a new ratio of finitely many gamma functions,finds complete monotonicity of the second logarithmic derivative of the ratio,and simply reviews the complete monotonicity of several linear combinations of finitely many digamma or trigamma functions.

Criteria for Response Monotonicity Preserving in Approximation of Fractional Order Systems

In approximation of fractional order systems,a significant objective is to preserve the important properties of the original system.The monotonicity of time/frequency responses is one of these properties whose preservation is of great importance in approximation process.Considering this importance,the issues of monotonicity preservation of the step response and monotonicity preservation of the magnitude-frequency response are independently investigated in this paper.In these investigations,some conditions on approximating filters of fractional operators are found to guarantee the preservation of step/magnitude-frequency response monotonicity in approximation process.These conditions are also simplified in some special cases.In addition,numerical simulation results are presented to show the usefulness of the obtained conditions.

Symmetry and monotonicity of positive solutions to Schr?dinger systems with fractional p-Laplacians

In this paper,we first establish narrow region principle and decay at infinity theorems to extend the direct method of moving planes for general fractional p-Laplacian systems.By virtue of this method,we investigate the qualitative properties of positive solutions for the following Schrodinger system with fractional p-Laplacian{(-△)^(s)_(p)u+au^(p-1)=f(u,v),(-△)^(t)_(p)v+bv(p-1)=g(u,v),where 0<s,t<1 and 2<p<∞.We obtain the radial symmetry in the unit ball or the whole space R^(N)(N≥2),the monotonicity in the parabolic domain and the nonexistence on the half space for positive solutions to the above system under some suitable conditions on f and g,respectively.

This strong convergence is obtained without the compactness-type assumptions on C, which many previous results (see e.g. [1]) employed.

Inference in the Presence of Likelihood Monotonicity for Polytomous and Logistic Regression

This paper addresses the problem of inference for a multinomial regression model in the presence of likelihood monotonicity. This paper proposes translating the multinomial regression problem into a conditional logistic regression problem, using existing techniques to reduce this conditional logistic regression problem to one with fewer observations and fewer covariates, such that probabilities for the canonical sufficient statistic of interest, conditional on remaining sufficient statistics, are identical, and translating this conditional logistic regression problem back to the multinomial regression setting. This reduced multinomial regression problem does not exhibit monotonicity of its likelihood, and so conventional asymptotic techniques can be used.

Ultimate generalization to monotonicity for uniform convergence of trigonometric series

Chaundy and Jolliffe proved that if {a n } is a non-increasing (monotonic) real sequence with lim n →∞ a n = 0, then a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniform convergence of the series ∑∞ n=1 a n sin nx is lim n →∞ na n = 0. We generalize (or weaken) the monotonic condition on the coefficient sequence {a n } in this classical result to the so-called mean value bounded variation condition and prove that the generalized condition cannot be weakened further. We also establish an analogue to the generalized Chaundy-Jolliffe theorem in the complex space.

A monotonicity theorem and its applications to weighted elliptic equations

We study the equation wtt + ?SN-1w-μwt-δw + h(t, ω)wp= 0,(t, ω) ∈ R × SN-1, and under some conditions we prove a monotonicity theorem for its positive solutions. Applying this monotonicity theorem,we obtain a Liouville-type theorem for some nonlinear elliptic weighted singular equations. Monotonicity Correction for the Finite Element Method of Anisotropic Diffusion Problems

We apply the monotonicity correction to thefinite element method for the anisotropic diffusion problems,including linear and quadraticfinite elements on triangular meshes.When formulating thefinite element schemes,we need to calculate the integrals on every triangular element,whose results are the linear combination of the two-point pairs.Then we decompose the integral results into the main and remaining parts according to coefficient signs of two-point pairs.We apply the nonlinear correction to the positive remaining parts and move the negative remaining parts to the right side of thefinite element equations.Finally,the original stiffness matrix can be transformed into a nonlinear M-matrix,and the corrected schemes have the positivity-preserving property.We also give the monotonicity correction to the time derivative term for the time-dependent problems.Numerical experiments show that the correctedfinite element method has monotonicity and maintains the convergence order of the original schemes in H1-norm and L2-norm,respectively.

Monotonicity Evaluation Method of Monitoring Feature Series Based on Ranking Mutual Information

As a prerequisite for effective prognostics, the goodness of the features affects the complexity of the prognostic methods. Comparing to features quality evaluation in diagnostics, features evaluation for prognostics is a new problem. Normally, the monotonic tendency of feature series can be used as the visual representation of equipment damage cumulation so that forecasting its future health states is easy to implement. Through introducing the concept of ranking mutual information in ordinal case, a monotonicity evaluation method of monitoring feature series is proposed. Finally, this method is verified by the simulating feature series and the results verify its effectivity. For the specific application in industry, the evaluation results can be used as the standard for selecting prognostic feature.

L^(p) Solutions for Multidimensional BDSDEs with Locally Weak Monotonicity Coefficients

In this paper,the authors establish the existence and uniqueness theorem of L^(p)(1<p≤2)solutions for multidimensional backward doubly stochastic differential equations(BDSDEs for short)under the p-order globally(locally)weak monotonicity conditions.Comparison theorem of L^(p) solutions for one-dimensional BDSDEs is also proved.These conclusions unify and generalize some known results.
