The dynamic responses of TLP with slack-taut tether are studied with consideration of several nonlinear factors introduced by large amplitude motions. The time histories of stresses of tethers of a typical TLP in slack- taut state are given. In addition, the sensitivities of slack to stiffness and mass are investigated by varying the stiffness of tether and mass of TLP. It is found that slack is sensitive to the mass of TLP. The critical curved surfaces ( over which indicates the slack) for the increase of mass are obtained.展开更多
The dispersion equation of the Scholte wave was reviewed using the homogeneous elastic half-space covered by a liquid layer,and the range of the Scholte wave propagation velocity was examined using the dispersion equa...The dispersion equation of the Scholte wave was reviewed using the homogeneous elastic half-space covered by a liquid layer,and the range of the Scholte wave propagation velocity was examined using the dispersion equation.The displacement expressions of the Scholte waves in liquid and solid were derived.Additionally,the mode of motion of Scholte waves in liquid and solid and their variation with depth was studied.The following results were obtained:The dispersion equation shows that the propagation velocity of the fundamental Scholte wave was greater than the P-wave in liquid and less than that of the Scholte wave in homogeneous elastic half-space.In contrast,the velocity of higher-order Scholte waves was greater than that of P waves in liquid and S-waves in solid.Only the fundamental Scholte wave has no cutoff frequency.The Scholte wave at the liquid surface moved only vertically,while the particles inside the liquid medium moved elliptically.The amplitude variation with depth in the solid medium caused the particle motion to change from a retrograde ellipse to a prograde ellipse.The above results imply the study of Scholte waves in the ocean and oceanic crust and help estimate ocean depths.展开更多

The numerical results of coupled motions for a frigate and a supply ship have a good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the 3D coupled motions of two ships, a spectral analysis is employed to clearly observe the effect of speed, clearance and wave heading on the significant relative motion amplitude (SRMA) of two ships. The method presented in this paper will be helpful to select suitable clearance, speed and wave heading for underway replenishment at sea(RAS).展开更多
This article presents the newly designed oblique towing test in the horizontal plane for the scaled model of 4 500 m deep sea open-framed Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV),which is being researched and developed by Sh...This article presents the newly designed oblique towing test in the horizontal plane for the scaled model of 4 500 m deep sea open-framed Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV),which is being researched and developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Accurate hydrodynamics coefficients measurement is significant for the maneuverability and control system design.The scaled model of ROV was constructed by 1:1.6.Hydrodynamics tests of large drift angle were conducted through Large Amplitude Horizontal Planar Motion Mechanism (LAHPMM) under low speed.Multiple regression method is adopted to process the test data and obtain the related hydrodynamic coefficients.Simulations were designed for the horizontal plane motion of large drift angle to verify the coefficients calculated.And the results show that the data can satisfy with the design requirements of the ROV developed.展开更多
