Effective collection, recognition, and analysis of sports information is the key to intelligent sports, which can help athletes to improve their skills and formulate scientific training plans and competition strategies. At present, wearable electronic devices used for movement monitoring still have some limitations, such as high cost and energy consumption, incompatibility of suitable flexibility and personalized spatial structure, dissatisfactory data analysis methods, etc. In this work,a novel three-dimensionalprinted thermoplastic polyurethane is introduced as the elastic shell and friction layer, and it endows the proposed customizable and flexible triboelectric nanogenerator(CF-TENG)with personalized spatial structure and robust correlation to external pressure. In practical application,it exhibits highly sensitive responses to the joint-bending motion of the finger, wrist,or elbow.Furthermore,a pressure-sensing insole and smart ski pole based on CF-TENG are manufactured to build a comprehensive sports monitoring system to transmit the athletes’motion information from feet and hands through the plantar pressure distribution and ski pole action. To recognize the movement status, the self-developed automatic peak recognition algorithm(P-Find)and machine learning algorithm(subspace K-Nearest Neighbors)were introduced to accurately distinguish the four typical motion behaviors and three primary sub-techniques of cross-country skiing, with accuracy rates of 98.2%and 100%.This work provides a novel strategy to promote the personalized applications of TENGs in intelligent sports. 展开更多

Monitoring results for the period 2009-2014 by ten standard GPS stations allowed to determine the crustal movements of seismically active region in south-eastern Kazakhstan. Maps of movement velocity were made in geocentric coordinate system and in reference system of the Eurasian continent. GPS points displacements reflect the features of modern deformation processes that are notable in the high seismic activity region. The structure of the velocity field divergence qualitatively confirms major deformation in the sublatitudinal direction which is parallel to the main ridge of the northern Tianshan Mountain. The epicenters of earthquakes are in agreement with the border areas of compression -tension, as well as the allocated areas of multidirectional rotary motion. The conclusion is that GPS monitoring of the movements of the Earth's crust can be used to evaluate the territory's stress-strain state for the purpose of seismic zoning and seismic risk assessment. 展开更多

This paper describes the interaction between deep-seated landslides and man-made structures such as dams, penstocks, viaducts, and tunnels. Selected case studies are reported first with the intent to gain insights into the complexities associated with the interaction of these structures with deep-seated landslides(generally referred to as deep-seated gravity slope deformations, DSGSDs). The main features, which characterize these landslides, are mentioned together with the interaction problems encountered in each case. Given the main objective of this paper, the numerical modeling methods adopted are outlined as means for increase in the understanding of the interaction problems being investigated. With the above in mind, the attention moves to an important and unique case history dealing with the interaction of a large-size twin-tunnel excavated with an earth pressure balance(EPB)tunnel boring machine(TBM) and a deep-seated landslide, which was reactivated due to the stress changes induced by tunnel excavation in landslide shear zone. The geological and geotechnical conditions are described together with the available monitoring data on the landslide movements, based on the advanced and conventional monitoring tools used. Numerical modeling is illustrated as an aid to back-analyze the monitored surface and subsurface deformations and to assist in finding the appropriate engineering solution for putting the tunnel into service and as a follow-up means for future understanding and control of the interaction problems. The simulation is based on a novel time-dependent model representing the landslide behavior. 展开更多

Strain sensors for human health monitoring are of paramount importance in wearable medical diagnostics and personal health monitoring.Despite extensive studies, strain sensors with both high durability and stretchability are still desired, particularly with the stability for different environmental conditions. Here,we report a series of strain sensors possessing the graphene network with a high density of intermittent physical interconnections, which produces the relative resistance change by varying the overlap area between the neighboring graphene sheets under stretching and releasing, analogous to the slide rheostat working in electronics. Our in-situ transmission electron microscope observation reveals the full recoverability of the structure from large deformation upon unloading for ensuring the exceptional cycle stability of our material on monitoring full-range body movements. The stable response is also demonstrated over wide temperature range and frequency range, because the peculiar dynamic structure can be maintained through the self-adjustment to the thermal expansion of the bulk material.Based on the working mechanism of graphene“slide rheostat,”the sensing properties of the strain sensor are tailored by tuning the graphene network structure with different mass densities using different concentrations of graphene oxide dispersion, while the stretchability and sensitivity can be separately optimized for different application requirements. 展开更多
