This research has objective to analyze some tools which are used to support decision maker to make a decision in multi stage and systematic way. And also in making decision, there are a qualitative type and quantitative type. In order to get an optimum decision making, the decision maker needs systematic way. There is the frame work which is based on combination of some existing methods and challenges emerging in organizational activities, including social organizations as well as business organisations. To formulate the framework, this research conducted focus group discussion consisting of some organizational managers as participants. There are five components of proposed frame work: (1) Criteria Identification through Focus Group Discussion (FGD); (2) Criteria Selection; (3) Focus Group for Criteria Verification; (4) Multicriteria Decision Making based Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP); and (5) Impact Analysis. This research resulted in an effective approach of decision making which allows decision maker to have objective and rational reason in each step of its decision-making process. Strength of the proposed framework is to provide rational and objective approach in group decision making. However, it takes longer time to conduct decision making due to more steps and participants involved. As a conclusion, the proposed research has been successful in establishing a multi stage and rational decision-making process. 展开更多

Wind energy is considered one of the most promising alternative energy sources against the conventional fossil fuels. However, the deployment of these structures in deep-water for better power production is considered as a complex task. This also has raised the issue regarding selection of appropriate support structures for various sea conditions by considering environmental impact and carbon footprint. This paper considers a jacket like support structure as a case study for an intermediate water depth(50m).The jacket is considered to be located in North of Dutch Sea,and 100-extreme wave is applied as load condition. Here, the presented methodology provides an insight towards environmental/social impact made by the optimized designs in comparison with reference design. 展开更多

During the last few years we have witnessed impressive developments in the area of stochastic local search techniques for intelligent optimization and Reactive Search Optimization. In order to handle the complexity, in the framework of stochastic local search optimization, learning and optimization has been deeply interconnected through interaction with the decision maker via the visualization approach of the online graphs. Consequently a number of complex optimization problems, in particular multiobjective optimization problems, arising in widely different contexts have been effectively treated within the general framework of RSO. In solving real-life multiobjective optimization problems often most emphasis are spent on finding the complete Pareto-optimal set and less on decision-making. However the com-plete task of multiobjective optimization is considered as a combined task of optimization and decision-making. In this paper, we suggest an interactive procedure which will involve the decision-maker in the optimization process helping to choose a single solution at the end. Our proposed method works on the basis of Reactive Search Optimization (RSO) algorithms and available software architecture packages. The procedure is further compared with the excising novel method of Interactive Multiobjective Optimization and Decision-Making, using Evolutionary method (I-MODE). In order to evaluate the effectiveness of both methods the well-known study case of welded beam design problem is reconsidered. 展开更多

Use of magnesium is the need of the hour due to its low density as well as its high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratio etc. This study focuses on the effectiveness of liquid nitrogen(LN_(2))assisted cryogenic machining on the surface integrity(SI)characteristics of AZ91 magnesium alloy.Face milling using uncoated carbide inserts have been performed under liquid nitrogen(LN_(2))assisted cryogenic condition and compared with conventional(dry)milling.Experiments are performed using machining parameters in terms of cutting speeds of 325,475,625 m/min,feed rates of 0.05,0.1,0.15 mm/teeth and depth of cuts of 0.5,1,1.5 mm respectively. Most significant surface integrity characteristics such as surface roughness, microhardness, microstructure, and residual stresses have been investigated.Behaviour of SI characteristics with respect to milling parameters have been identified using statistical technique such as ANOVA and signal-to-noise(S/N)ratio plots.Additionally, the multi criteria decision making(MCDM)techniques such as additive ratio assessment method(ARAS)and complex proportional assessment(COPRAS)have been utilized to identify the optimal conditions for milling AZ91 magnesium alloy under both dry and cryogenic conditions.Use of LN_(2)during machining, resulted in reduction in machining temperature by upto 29%with a temperature drop from 251.2℃under dry condition to 178.5℃in cryogenic condition. Results showed the advantage of performing cryogenic milling in improving the surface integrity to a significant extent.Cryogenic machining considerably minimized the roughness by upto 28%and maximised the microhardness by upto 23%,when compared to dry machining.Cutting speed has caused significant impact on surface roughness(95.33%-dry,92.92%-cryogenic)and surface microhardness(80.33%-dry,82.15%-cryogenic).Due to the reduction in machining temperature, cryogenic condition resulted in compressive residual stresses(maximumσ║=-113 MPa)on the alloy surface. Results indicate no harm to alloy microstructure in both conditions, with no alterations to grain integrity and minimal reduction in the average grain sizes in the near machined area, when compared to before machined(base material)surface. The MCDM approach namely ARAS and COPRAS resulted in identical results, with the optimal condition being cutting speed of 625 m/min,a feed rate of 0.05 mm/teeth,and a depth of cut of 0.5 mm for both dry and cryogenic environments. 展开更多

The Sultanate of Oman has been dealing with a severe renewable energy issue for the past few decades, and the government has struggled to find a solution. In addition,Oman’s strategy for converting power generation to sources of renewable energy includes a goal of 60 percent of national energy demands being met by renewables by 2040,including solar and wind turbines.Furthermore, the use of small-scale energy from wind devices has been on the rise in recent years. This upward trend is attributed to advancements in wind turbine technology, which have lowered the cost of energy from wind.To calculate the internal and external factors that affect the small-scale energy of wind technologies, the study used a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process technique for order of preference by similarity to an ideal solution. As a result,in the decision model, four criteria, seventeen sub-criteria,and three resources of renewable energy were calculated as options from the viewpoint of the Sultanate of Oman. This research is based on an examination of statistics on energy produced by wind turbines at various locations in the Sultanate of Oman.Further, six distinct miniature wind turbines were investigated for four different locations. The outcomes of this study indicate that the tiny wind turbine has a lot of potential in the Sultanate of Oman for applications such as homes, schools, college campuses, irrigation, greenhouses, communities, and small businesses. The government should also use renewable energy resources to help with the renewable energy issue and make sure that the country has enough renewable energy for its long-term growth. 展开更多
