Nowadays, it addresses the peculiarities of peoples through their culture in order to produce increasingly easy-to-use software for end users: This is the aim of software localization. Localizing a software consists among other things, in adapting its GUI according to the end user culture. We propose in this paper a generic approach allowing accomplishing this adaptation, even for multi-user applications like gaming applications, collaborative editors, etc. Techniques of functional interpretations of abstracts structures parameterized by algebras, constitute the formal base of our approach.展开更多

The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replications where flowering (days), plant height (cm) and yield (kg) were collected. The analysis of variance showed highly significance among treatments of all traits measured Environment and Genotype by Environment interactions also contributed significantly to the performance of yield components. The highest average grain yield was recorded from hybrids P9511A x ST9007-5-2-1 (4289 kg/ha), NE223A x 90SN1 (3666 kg/ha), NE223A x Sepon 82 (3533 kg/ha) and NE223A x P9405 (3519 kg/ha) across locations. Farmers’ preferences were the panicle size, good seed set, earliness, and seed color. Hence, in a variety selection farmer’s preferences focus more on prioritized yield-related trait. The best varieties ranked by traits of interest were P9511A x ST9007-5-2-1, NE223A x 90SN1, NE223A x P9405 and P9511A x SEPON 82 that performed well under their circumstances. The results showed that farmers’ preferred varieties match with researchers. Therefore, based on objectively measured traits, farmers’ preferences and the agro ecologies of the site, varieties NE223A x 90SN1 and P9511A x ST9007-5-2-1 were found promising for production.展开更多

The varietal selection was determined by grain yield potential, wide adaptation, and good stability. This study was aimed at evaluation of indigenous upland rice germplasm for yield and yield stability in multi-locations. Thirty-six upland rice genotypes collected from six provinces of the North and Northeast Thailand and one check variety (Sewmaejan) were assessed under five locations in the rainy seasons of 2009 and 2010. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The genotype grain yield was highly affected by location (59.90%), followed by genotypes (G)xlocation (L) interaction (12.80%) and genotype (6.79%). The most suitable location for the genotype eval- uation was L3 (Khon Kaen-KKU 10) which associated with stability of grain yield for all genotypes. Furthermore, biplot and regression analysis indicated that genotype numbers 6 (Jaowmong 1), 10 (Neawmong 1), 18 (Neawdum 1), 19 (Leamna), 20 (Prayaleamkang), 32 (Kunwang 2), and 33 (Kunwang 3) showed great yield stability over five locations. The genotypes will be applicant for upland rice production area and parental base in breeding program.展开更多

In order to overcome the premature convergence of ACA (ant colony algorithms), the idea of mute operation is adopted in genetic algorithms and a PACA (parallel ant colony algorithms) is proposed for supply chain optimization. Finally, an illustrative example is given, and a comparison is made with standard BAB (Branch and Bound) and PACA approach. The result shows that the latter is more effective and promising.展开更多

All the Current Kenyan commercial varieties are susceptible to this race. This study was aimed at identifying suitable wheat varieties with resistance to Ug99 and replacing the susceptible commercial varieties through multi-locational testing and variety release. Thirty three lines were identified from a prescreen population of 104 lines and tested in 3 wheat growing regions in Kenya for two seasons in 2006 and 2007. The resulting four superior lines were evaluated under the National Performance Trial (NPT) where two lines which out-performed the best check variety were released as for commercial production. 'Robin' was the best line and out yielded the commercial variety by 27%. "Eaglel0" was the second best and was better significantly than the check variety. These two lines which combined both adult plant resistant gene Sr2 complex and other major genes are expected to have some durable resistance and may be used to replace the current susceptible commercial varieties grown in Kenya.展开更多

With the breakthrough of recent molecule imaging techniques, the usage of 2D bioimages has become increasingly popular in automatically analyzing the protein subcellular location pat- terns. Compared with the widely used protein 1D amino acid sequence data, the images of protein distribution are more intuitive and interpretable, making the images a better choice at many applications for revealing the dynamic char- acteristics of proteins, such as detecting protein translocation and quantification of proteins. In this paper, we systemati- cally reviewed the recent progresses in the field of automated image-based protein subcellular location prediction, and clas- sified them into four categories including growing of bioim- age databases, description of subcellular location distribution patterns, classification methods, and applications of the pre- diction systems. Besides, we also discussed some potential directions in this field.展开更多
