A Study on the Inheritance Path of Red Music in Universities Under the Multicultural Background

Red music culture is a cultural form created by the people led by the Communist Party of China(CPC)in the process of revolution,construction,and reform.The inheritance and dissemination of this cultural form in universities,especially in the context of multiculturalism,has important social and cultural value.This study takes the red music culture in Shanghai as the research carrier,and explores the inheritance path of red music in universities through background investigation,theoretical research,specific practice,and achievement display.The research results show that red music culture can be effectively inherited and promoted by strengthening the construction of the red music culture cloud platform in universities,integrating red music culture resources into the campus environment,and promoting it in Chinese,English,and Japanese on social media.In addition,this study also explores the effective role of red music culture in establishing correct ideals and beliefs among college students.

Unity and Diversity——A Study of Australian Multiculturalism

Australia is a country characterized by huge inflows of migrants. In response to the demographic change and its impact on the social, cultural and economic scenes, the Australian government has adopted the policies of Assimilation, Integration, and Multiculturalism to tackle with the relationship between the ethnic groups and the mainstream society. This essay argues that multiculturalism, the principle on which the authorities base their policies in regard to migrant issues, is shifting its focus and trying to locate a sound combination between diversity and unity. Consequently, Multiculturalism is now in the service of building a unified nation and nationalism is its ultimate ideal outcome.

On Canadian's Multiculturalism in the Late 20th Century

In 1971 the government of Canada adopted the policy of multiculturalism. Since then Canada has become the first western country to announce and implement an official policy of multiculturalism. While it is not easy to achieve this policy. The policies seem just to strengthen the racial consciousness in some extent, and the immigrant groups have to tackle the problem of how to fuse into the Canadian culture. On Realities of Canadian Multiculturalism

A preliminary multicultural nursing competence instrument for assessing undergraduate student nurses

Purpose:To develop a multicultural nursing competence instrument for use in assessing undergraduate student nurses(SNs).Methods:This study enrolled 322 student nurses(SNs)employed at five hospitals in Hunan Province.The nurses were identified by the cluster sampling method.The items on the competence instrument were retained or deleted after analyzing their coefficient of variation,coefficient of correlation with the total score,t-test results.Reliability tests and correlation analysis were used to examine internal consistency,while exploratory factor analysis was used to determine construct validity.Results:After analyzing items,the final multicultural nursing competence instrument comprised a total of 49 items that evaluated five dimensions.The instrument showed good overall reliability(0.958),and the internal consistency of the five dimensions ranged from 0.884 to 0.952.Furthermore,the correlations among the five dimensions were statistically significant(P<0.01).An exploratory factor analysis of the five dimensions showed that five items incorporated aspects of cultural cognition(factor loading range,0.824-0.888),five items incorporated aspects of cultural attitude(factor loading range,0.629-0.815),twentytwo items involved cultural knowledge(factor loading range,0.587-0.792),seven items incorporated aspects of cultural skills(factor loading range,0.743-0.860),and 10 items involved cultural encounters(factor loading range,0.522-0.909).Conclusion:The multicultural nursing competence instrument for SNs demonstrated good reliability and validity,and can be utilized in nursing education programs and research.

British Multiculturalism and Its Evolution in a Utilitarian Perspective

David Cameron' s speech in Munich(February 2011) has been seen as a U-turn of the British approach to ethnic minorities and diversity(particularly concerning Muslims and South Asians) and a clear rejection of multiculturalism,in the wake of the European terror attacks(Madrid 2004,London 2005).The heyday of multiculturalism is associated to Tony Blair' s Premiership(1997-2007) and more generally to New Labour rule(1997-2010).After defining multiculturalism this paper will try and put it in a historical and philosophical perspective,that is to say as one of the latest offshoots of Utilitarianism within the general framework of Western liberalism.Revisiting Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill may help understand the notions of tolerance and political freedom that are part and parcel of the multicultural project.

Research on Cross-Cultural Communication from the Perspective of Multiculturalism

Multicultural Practice in Secondary Schools With Multicultural Background

In Sri Lanka,after 30 years of civil war,multicultural education is being seen as important to help change students’attitudes towards different ethnic and religious groups.Therefore,the major aim of this study was to investigate the views of students and staff about the multicultural policies and practices in Sinhala-medium secondary schools with multicultural background.The sample of the study comprised of 321 students,116 teachers and five principals from five Sinhala-medium schools.In addition,four education policy-makers also contributed to the study.The key findings indicated that the majority of Sinhala and Tamil students were engaged in the school activities but Muslim students less so.In addition,all five schools had a variety of extra-curricular activities that were designed for minority ethnic groups.This is a good example for other multicultural schools in Sri Lanka.Research findings show that overall the majority of teachers suggested that they wanted some training about multicultural education.Most students were satisfied that their teachers know some expressions in the language of different students.However,teachers in these multicultural schools wanted language training to build a good intercultural relationship between teachers and students.Counsellors and teachers did not have the knowledge and skills required to provide cross-cultural counselling.Therefore,both teachers and counsellors need proper training.The research makes clear how extra/co-curricular activities are important to promote social cohesion in Sri Lanka.

Attempt and Practice of Improving Multicultural Literacy of Senior Middle School Students—Taking the K.S.H.S Volunteer Services in Aboriginal Areas as an Example

This study explores ways to cultivate the multicultural literacy of high school students.The high school stage is a critical period for the establishment of personal values,and the school mainly focuses on entrance courses.For the literacy connotation of non-important subjects,such as multiculturalism,it is impossible to provide relevant curriculum changes.Speculation and discussion;also because the scope of activities of high school students is mainly on campus,there is a lack of corresponding field identification and cultivation,the conversion of multicultural literacy differences is insufficient,and there are phenomena,such as discrimination and language bullying.Try to improve its multiculturalism,one is to carry out hometown service activities,and the other is to integrate courses.The research method uses the ethnographic perspective to record the experience of hometown service.Through hometown service,students can discover distinct cultural differences and appreciate the beautiful and profound aspects of aboriginal culture.Reading aboriginal literature in high-level Chinese textbooks can understand the uniqueness of aboriginal culture and sort out the historical context,so that students can understand that the aboriginal test bonus system is derived from complex social structure issues.From the above discussion,it is found that penetrating service,reflection,reading,and corrective actions allow high school students to truly realize cultural differences.Boots can overcome differences and understand social justice and equal opportunities for ethnic groups.

Assessment of Fungi Species Associated with a Multicultural Orchard and Cultivated Land in Bingham University Landscape,Karu Nasarawa State,Nigeria

Assessment of fungal species associated with a multicultural orchard and cultivated land in Bingham University landscape was carried out,with the ultimate aim of identifying the fungi species present in soil under different agricultural practices.A total of 30 soil samples were collected and the composite from each land use pattern was analyzed in the labora­tory using standard methods.Soil type,percentage Soil Moisture(SM),percentage Organic Carbon(OC)and percentage Organic Matter(OM)were measured using standard methods;fungi species were isolated and identified on the basis of mycelia and spore characteristics,after staining with lactophenol-in-cotton blue.The results showed that,four types of soil exist in the sites including sandy,clayey,silt and loamy.SM ranges be­tween 3.6%-5.7%,and OC in the sandy soil was the highest 1.01%in the orange plantation(Op5)followed closely by loamy soil on cultivated site C with 0.97%OM and 0.56%OC and least in clay soil with 0.72%OM and 0.42%OC.The results of colony forming unit per gram(cfu/g)in relation to land use type,Cultivated Site C(CC1-CC5)had the highest(262 cfu/g)and mango plantation(Mp1-Mp5)had the least with 156 cfu/g.Pictorial representation of isolated fungal species are indicative of suspected presence of Aspergillus Spp,Mucor Spp,Cladosporium Spp,Fusarium Spp,Aspergillus Spp etc.This qualitative study concluded that fungal species population in the soil depends on the management practice in place and the moisture content of the soil.

This case study focuses on intercultural and multicultural education for children.Several studies show cultural identity and cultural conflicts have both positive and negative influence on the education for children.Based on the interview,this research ex-plores the differences between Chinese and Canadian way of education and how intercultural and multicultural education influences the family and how the family members integrate into the Canadian way of life.From the 5 aspects of cultural identity,cultural con-flicts,stereotype,intercultural education for children,and multicultural education for children,there follows the 2 case studies for the exploration of further discussion and improvement.

An Analysis of American Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism has received fierce controversy and discussion upon its proposal for its complexity in definition and in practice.This research discusses the definition of multiculturalism focusing on the comparison between the term“cultural pluralism”and“multiculturalism”,its influence on American society and its distinct characteristics,which is the claims of equality and identification between different cultures.It is argued that multiculturalism is not only a cultural ideology and a cultural war between the WASP-based mainstream culture and the cultures of the disadvantaged groups,but also a political and economic movement.The research also analyzes the practice of multiculturalism in the fields of political participation,education,race,media and the practice of multiculturalism that targets the disabled people and women.Moreover,the problems arise during the proposal and practice of multiculturalism are presented in the research.It is argued that the relationship between multiculturalism and homogeneous culture is not contradictory but united.A mature,sustainable and energetic national culture needs to seek common ground while recognizing and reserving the differences.

Multicultural care in nursing—From the theoretical paradigm to the subjective experiences in clinical settings

Last decade, the geography of immigration in Portugal experienced intense transformations with an increasing inflow of new and diversified migratory groups. An open questionnaire was developed and applied to 22 Portuguese nurses, aiming to analyse personal experiences and significant situations of nursing care in multicultural contexts. The understanding of hospital routines, difficulties in managing physical space due to different cultural standards, body exposure, and body handling in nursing clinical care, emerged as more significant issues in reports of critical incidents focusing on multicultural contexts.

Relations Between School and Immigrant Families in Albertan Francophone School: Perspectives of Settlement Workers in Schools - A Secondary Publication

In recent years,Francophone schools in Alberta,a province in western Canada,have seen significant ethnocultural diversification of their school population,thus reflecting recent migratory changes in Canada.The population of a Francophone school board located in an agglomeration of Alberta reflects these new migratory trends.A partial ethnodemographic portrait carried out in 2003 in six of its schools indicates that 50%of the pupils come from an immigrant background and come from 23 different countries;mostly from sub-Saharan African countries.This demographic reality,confirmed more than a decade later,represents a major structural change for Francophone schools.In Alberta,as in other Canadian provinces,inclusion is at the heart of discourse and educational practices.With a transformative aim,it intends to promote ethnocultural diversity in the classroom and equal opportunities through school equity practices.This article focuses on the settlement workers in schools responsible for bridging family,community,and school cultures.The analysis of the interviews of the four workers sheds light on and questions both the institutional practices and the personal strategies put in place to face the challenges encountered in this tripartite collaboration.

Teachers’Multicultural Awareness and the Ethnic Identity of Minority Students:An Individual Case Study of a Hani Student

This study considers the role of teachers’multicultural awareness in promoting minority students’ethnic identity by considering the situation in one particular middle school.A case study of a Hani student is presented to show how teachers’multicultural awareness affects ethnic identity and the academic achievement of minority students.This case study enables the authors to assess the significance and value of teachers’multicultural awareness as an educational concept.Through the study,the authors point to a need to strengthen multicultural awareness in teachers’education to meet requirements of cultural diversity.The authors also emphasize that such awareness should be an objective of teacher training.
