The primary standard can only reflect partial conditions of somatic disorder...BACKGROUND: Convalescence is an important stage of stroke treatment. A lot of patients have somatic and mental disorders at various degrees. The primary standard can only reflect partial conditions of somatic disorder; in addition, multiple dimensions of patients at the phase of stroke convalescence are further observed by using a lot of standards, such as signs and symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine, daily activity and psychological status. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the outcome assessments of the cases of stroke convalescence measured with different criteria consisting of various dimensions by a cross-sectional investigation of the condition of stroke convalescent patients. DESIGN: Scale evaluation. SETTING: Departments of Clinical Epidemiology Exploratory Development and Neurology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; National Center for Training of Design, Measurement and Evaluation in Clinical Research,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 194 stroke convalescent patients treated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 26, 2000 to February 28, 2001 were taken as subjects of the study. There were 126 males and 68 females aged from 40 to 89 years, and the illness course ranged from 14 to 181 days. All patients met diagnosis-treatment criteria of stroke (the second version)[DTCS(V2.0)] and various kinds of diagnostic points of cerebrovascular diseases; moreover, all patients provided confirmed consents. METHODS: They were assessed by assessment methods including the following assessment instruments: DTCS(V2.0), self-designed scale of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms (28 symptoms and physical signs were scored as 0, 1, 2 marks from none to severity), modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale (a total of 45 marks, 0 to 15 marks as mild defect, 16 to 30 as moderate defect, 31 to 45 as severe defect), modified Barthel activities of daily life (ADL) index (a total of 100 marks, less than 60 marks as unable self-care), vitality and mental health (subscales derived from Health Survey Questionnaire, SF-36). The collected data from scales and inter-scale correlation were processed by the statistic methods mainly including descriptive analysis, Spearmen correlation analysis, factor analysis, etc. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Average scores of scales and criteria; ② correlation between modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale and other scales. RESULTS: All of the patients completed the assessment, and analyzed in the final analysis. ① The average scores of the scales and criteria: The average scores of DTCS(V2.0), self-designed scale of TCM symptoms, modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale, modified Barthel ADL index, vitality and mental health scales were 6.51±6.29, 13.73±6.97, 7.56±7.35, 63.58±23.68, 52.79±23.32 and 62.83±22.75 respectively. ② Correlation between modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale and other scales: The Spearman correlation coefficients (R ’) of modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale with diagnosis-treatment criteria of stroke, scales of TCM symptoms, modified Barthel ADL index, vitality scale and mental health scale were 20.885, 0.302, -0.824, -0.294 and -0.258 respectively. CONCLUSION: The modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale and DTCS(V2.0) shared the same assessment dimension, so they can be mutually alternated in some clinical practices. Discrepancy in measurements of health status was gained due to the diverse dimensions applied in outcome assessments. It is necessary to build up a multi-dimensional assessment criteria system, such as signs and symptoms, daily activities and psychological status, for assessing the stroke convalescent cases in a more comprehensive scope and reflecting the efficacy of TCM treatment scientifically.展开更多

In this paper, an analytical model is developed and a computational algorithm is formulated to analyze complex seismically isolated superstructures even when undergoing highly-nonlinear phenomena such as uplift. The computational model has the capability of modeling various types of isolation devices with strong nonlinearities, analyzing multiple superstructures (up to five separate superstructures) on multiple bases (up to five bases), and capturing the effects of lateral loads on bearing axial forces, including bearing uplift. The model developed herein has been utilized to form the software platform 3D-BASIS-ME-MB, which provides the practicing engineering community with a versatile tool for analysis and design of complex structures with modem isolation systems.展开更多

To this end, two numerical examples have been analyzed using the computational algorithm incorporated into program 3D-BASIS-ME-MB, developed on the basis of the newly-formulated analytical model. The first example concerns a seven-story model structure that was tested on the earthquake simulator at the University at Buflhlo and was also used as a verification example for program SAP2000. The second example concerns a two-tower, multi-story structure with a split-level seismic-isolation system. For purposes of verification, key results produced by 3D-BASIS-ME-MB are compared to experimental results, or results obtained from other structural/finite element programs. In both examples, the analyzed structure is excited under conditions of bearing uplift, thus yielding a case of much interest in verifying the capabilities of the developed analysis tool.展开更多

By using special pream-bles to assist the decision of a feedback loop and to solve the problem of phase ambiguity,the tracking performance of the algorithm has been improved greatly. Only a few preambles are needed in the al-gorithm since the preambles are not used to estimate the frequency offset but used to provide the variation information of the phase due to the presence of frequency offset. Simulations verify that the algorithm has low SNR bound for tracking as well as high tracking accuracy and the tracking range is expanded to 30% of one subcarrier spacing.展开更多

The designed fusion algorithm is suitable to have dynamically adjustable fusion weights, and the fusion structure was analyzed. Simulations and experiments without any knowledge of mobile robots and uncalibrated visual sensors show that the method has higher adaptability than the traditional instant switch control method. A combination of a voice coil actuator...Multiple reference optical coherence tomography(MR-OCT) is a recently developed, low-cost and compact time-domain OCT solution for primary care and consumer level applications. A combination of a voice coil actuator and a partial mirror(PM) extends the scan range for imaging depths of approximately 1 mm in biological samples. Our previous research on MR-OCT is based only on intensity information obtained from the depth-resolved interference signal. In this Letter, we extract the phase information from the MR-OCT signal and, hence, provide an additional contrast modality. The phase sensitivity of the system is measured to be approximately 0.2 and 1.5 rad for the first and twelfth orders of reflection when using a mirror as the sample.This Letter describes first results of phase-sensitive data measured on a phantom obtained with MR-OCT. Data from a chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane(CAM) is used to demonstrate the feasibility of MR-OCT for in vivo phase-sensitive imaging.展开更多

SDMA optical bealnforming is a technique which separates light-emitting diode light spa- tially and focuses each part on different target devices simultaneously. We show the experimental results of the VLC signal amplitudes, the optical power densities, and the bit-error rate performance as a function of transmission distance before and after the SDMA optical beamforming. The results show that the VLC signal amplitudes and optical power densities are improved by 8-2 and 3.8- 5 dB, respectively, with the help of SDMA optical beamforming.展开更多

The multiple PDFAs, whose spatial periods correspond to object's depths with the elemental image array (EIA), can generate a set of spatially filtered EIAs for multiple object depths compared with the conventional method for the depth of a single object. We analyze a controllable spatial filtering effect by the proposed method. In this paper,we present a phase multiplication algorithm(PMA)to obtain scalable fringe precision in laser self-mixing interferometer under a weak feedback regime.Merely by applying the double angle formula on the sel...In this paper,we present a phase multiplication algorithm(PMA)to obtain scalable fringe precision in laser self-mixing interferometer under a weak feedback regime.Merely by applying the double angle formula on the self-mixing signal multiple times,the continuously improved fringe precision will be obtained.Theoretical analysis shows that the precision of the fringe could be improved toλ/2^(n+1).The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by means of simulated SMI signals and confirmed by experiments under different amplitudes.A fringe precision ofλ/128 at a sampling rate of 500 k S/s has been achieved after doing 6 th the PMA.Finally,an amplitude of 50 nm has been proved to be measurable and the absolute error is 3.07 nm,which is within the theoretical error range.The proposed method for vibration measurement has the advantage of high accuracy and reliable without adding any additional optical elements in the optical path,thus it will play an important role in nanoscale measurement field.展开更多

The results show that the VLC signal amplitudes and optical power densities are improved by 8-2 and 3.8- 5 dB, respectively, with the help of SDMA optical beamforming.

文摘We propose a novel method of slice image reconstruction with controllable spatial filtering by using the correlation of periodic delta-function arrays (PDFAs) with elemental images in computational integral imaging. The multiple PDFAs, whose spatial periods correspond to object's depths with the elemental image array (EIA), can generate a set of spatially filtered EIAs for multiple object depths compared with the conventional method for the depth of a single object. We analyze a controllable spatial filtering effect by the proposed method. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, we carry out preliminary experiments for multiple objects and present the results.
文摘Optics is a potential candidate in information, data, and image processing. In all-optical data and information processing, optics has been used as information carrying signal because of its inherent advantages of parallelism. Several optical methods are proposed in support of the above processing. In many algebraic, arithmetic, and image processing schemes fundamental logic and memory operations are conducted exploring all-optical devices. In this communication we report an all-optical matrix multiplication operation with non-linear material based switching circuit.

文摘In this paper,we present a phase multiplication algorithm(PMA)to obtain scalable fringe precision in laser self-mixing interferometer under a weak feedback regime.Merely by applying the double angle formula on the self-mixing signal multiple times,the continuously improved fringe precision will be obtained.Theoretical analysis shows that the precision of the fringe could be improved toλ/2^(n+1).The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by means of simulated SMI signals and confirmed by experiments under different amplitudes.A fringe precision ofλ/128 at a sampling rate of 500 k S/s has been achieved after doing 6 th the PMA.Finally,an amplitude of 50 nm has been proved to be measurable and the absolute error is 3.07 nm,which is within the theoretical error range.The proposed method for vibration measurement has the advantage of high accuracy and reliable without adding any additional optical elements in the optical path,thus it will play an important role in nanoscale measurement field.
