Purpose:This research project aims to organize the archival information of traditional Korean performing arts in a semantic web environment.Key requirements,which the archival records manager should consider for publi...Purpose:This research project aims to organize the archival information of traditional Korean performing arts in a semantic web environment.Key requirements,which the archival records manager should consider for publishing and distribution of gugak performing archival information in a semantic web environment,are presented in the perspective of linked data.Design/methodology/approach:This study analyzes the metadata provided by the National Gugak Center’s Gugak Archive,the search and browse menus of Gugak Archive’s website and K-PAAN,the performing arts portal site.Findings:The importance of consistency,continuity,and systematicity—crucial qualities in traditional record management practices—is undiminished in a semantic web environment.However,a semantic web environment also requires new tools such as web identifiers(URIs),data models(RDF),and link information(interlinking).Research limitations:The scope of this study does not include practical implementation strategies for the archival records management system and website services.The suggestions also do not discuss issues related to copyright or policy coordination between related organizations.Practical implications:The findings of this study can assist records managers in converting a traditional performing arts information archive into a semantic web environment-based online archival service and system.This can also be useful for collaboration with record managers who are unfamiliar with relational or triple database system.Originality/value:This study analyzed the metadata of the Gugak Archive and its online services to present practical requirements for managing and disseminating gugak performing arts information in a semantic web environment.In the application of the semantic web services’principles and methods to an Gugak Archive,this study can contribute to the improvement of information organization and services in the field of Korean traditional music.展开更多
Generating compact and effective numerical representations of data is a fundamental step for many machine learning tasks.Traditionally,handcrafted features are used but as deep learning starts to show its potential,us...Generating compact and effective numerical representations of data is a fundamental step for many machine learning tasks.Traditionally,handcrafted features are used but as deep learning starts to show its potential,using deep learning models to extract compact representations becomes a new trend.Among them,adopting vectors from the model’s latent space is the most popular.There are several studies focused on visual analysis of latent space in NLP and computer vision.However,relatively little work has been done for music information retrieval(MIR)especially incorporating visualization.To bridge this gap,we propose a visual analysis system utilizing Autoencoders to facilitate analysis and exploration of traditional Chinese music.Due to the lack of proper traditional Chinese music data,we construct a labeled dataset from a collection of pre-recorded audios and then convert them into spectrograms.Our system takes music features learned from two deep learning models(a fully-connected Autoencoder and a Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)Autoencoder)as input.Through interactive selection,similarity calculation,clustering and listening,we show that the latent representations of the encoded data allow our system to identify essential music elements,which lay the foundation for further analysis and retrieval of Chinese music in the future.展开更多
Traditional music is an important component of cultural heritage.However,studies have scarcely explored the tourism development potential and the obstacle factors of traditional music.This study takes Xiangxi as the r...Traditional music is an important component of cultural heritage.However,studies have scarcely explored the tourism development potential and the obstacle factors of traditional music.This study takes Xiangxi as the research site,constructs an evaluation index system,and utilizes survey and geographical methods.The major research results are as follows:First,the average potential of resource endowment,tourism industry development,and socio-economic conditions are 0.28,0.36,and 0.24,respectively.The potential of resource endowment is higher in the west and lower in the east,that of tourism industry development is higher in the north and south and lower in the center,and that of socio-economic conditions is higher in the south and lower in the north.Second,the comprehensive potential is 0.29,which is higher in the northwest and southwest regions.Coordination in most administrative units is at a medium level,and most regions have obvious advantages in resource endowment.Third,the primary obstacle factor is socio-economic conditions(39.21%),followed by resource endowment(30.73%)and tourism industry development(30.06%).The administrative units can be classified into four groups:socio-economic condition obstacle,resource endowment and tourism industry development obstacles,resource endowment and socio-economic condition obstacles,and tourism industry development and socio-economic condition obstacles.The highest priority goals for Xiangxi involve economic development and the integration of modern technologies to stimulate passenger flow.For reg traditional music items(eastern area of Xiangxi),tourism development should be restrained and other resources with stronger inherent advantages should be exploited.This study explored the quantification of traditional music tourism potential,representing a novel breakthrough in this field of research.The indicator system and research methods used in this study can provide guidance and methodological references for cultural heritage research.The suggestions proposed in this article contribute to the rational development and effective protection of cultural heritage resources and the healthy development of the tourism industry.展开更多
