With the rapid development in cloud data centers and cloud service customers,the demand for high quality cloud service has been grown rapidly.To face this reality,this paper focuses on service optimization issues in c...With the rapid development in cloud data centers and cloud service customers,the demand for high quality cloud service has been grown rapidly.To face this reality,this paper focuses on service optimization issues in cloud computing environment.First,a service-oriented architecture is proposed and programmable network facilities are utilized in it to optimize specific cloud services.Then various cloud services are categorized into two subcategories;static services and dynamic services.Furthermore,the concepts of cloud service quality and cloud resource idle rate are defined,and the aforementioned concepts have also been taken into consideration as parameters in the service optimization algorithm to improve the cloud service quality and optimize system workload simultaneously.Numerical simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in balancing the workload of all servers.展开更多

There are so many challenges for implementing a smart home system in which the most important ones are the cost and simplicity of the implementation method. It is clear that the major share of the total cost is referred to the internal controlling system network; although there are too many methods proposed but still there is not any satisfying method at the consumers' point of view. In this paper, a novel solution for this demand is proposed, which not only minimizes the implementation cost, but also provides a high level of reliability and simplicity of operation; feasibility, extendibility, and flexibility are other leading properties of the design.展开更多
Cloud providers(e.g.,Google,Alibaba,Amazon)own large-scale datacenter networks that comprise thousands of switches and links.A loadbalancing mechanism is supposed to effectively utilize the bisection bandwidth.Both Eq...Cloud providers(e.g.,Google,Alibaba,Amazon)own large-scale datacenter networks that comprise thousands of switches and links.A loadbalancing mechanism is supposed to effectively utilize the bisection bandwidth.Both Equal-Cost Multi-Path(ECMP),the canonical solution in practice,and alternatives come with performance limitations or significant deployment challenges.In this work,we propose Closer,a scalable load balancing mechanism for cloud datacenters.Closer complies with the evaluation of technology including the deployment of Clos-based topologies,overlays for network virtualization,and virtual machine(VM)clusters.We decouple the system into centralized route calculation and distributed route decision to guarantee its flexibility and stability in large-scale networks.Leveraging In-band Network Telemetry(INT)to obtain precise link state information,a simple but efficient algorithm implements a weighted ECMP at the edge of fabric,which enables Closer to proactively map the flows to the appropriate path and avoid the excessive congestion of a single link.Closer achieves 2 to 7 times better flow completion time(FCT)at 70%network load than existing schemes that work with same hardware environment.展开更多

Network monitoring is receiving more attention than ever with the need for a self-driving network to tackle increasingly severe network management challenges. Advanced management applications rely on traffic data anal...Network monitoring is receiving more attention than ever with the need for a self-driving network to tackle increasingly severe network management challenges. Advanced management applications rely on traffic data analyses, which require network monitoring to flexibly provide comprehensive traffic characteristics. Moreover, in virtualized environments, software network monitoring is constrained by available resources and requirements of cloud operators. In this paper, Trident, a policy-based network monitoring system at the host, is proposed. Trident is a novel monitoring approach, off-path configurable streaming, which offers remote analyzers a fine-grained holistic view of the network traffic. A novel fast path packet classification algorithm and a corresponding cached flow form are also proposed to improve monitoring efficiency. Evaluated in a practical deployment, Trident demonstrates negligible interference with forwarding and requires no additional software dependencies. Trident has been deployed in production networks of several Tier-IV datacenters.展开更多
