Soft materials, with the sensitivity to various external stimuli, exhibit high flexibility and stretchability.Accurate prediction of their mechanical behaviors requires advanced hyperelastic constitutive models incorporating multiple parameters. However, identifying multiple parameters under complex deformations remains a challenge, especially with limited observed data.In this study,we develop a physics-informed neural network(PINN)framework to identify material parameters and predict mechanical fields, focusing on compressible Neo-Hookean materials and hydrogels. To improve accuracy,we utilize scaling techniques to normalize network outputs and material parameters. This framework effectively solves forward and inverse problems, extrapolating continuous mechanical fields from sparse boundary data and identifying unknown mechanical properties. We explore different approaches for imposing boundary conditions(BCs)to assess their impacts on accuracy. To enhance efficiency and generalization,we propose a transfer learning enhanced PINN(TL-PINN),allowing pre-trained networks to quickly adapt to new scenarios. The TL-PINN significantly reduces computational costs while maintaining accuracy. This work holds promise in addressing practical challenges in soft material science, and provides insights into soft material mechanics with state-of-the-art experimental methods. 展开更多

A hybrid identification model based on multilayer artificial neural networks(ANNs) and particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is developed to improve the simultaneous identification efficiency of thermal conductivity and effective absorption coefficient of semitransparent materials. For the direct model, the spherical harmonic method and the finite volume method are used to solve the coupled conduction-radiation heat transfer problem in an absorbing, emitting, and non-scattering 2D axisymmetric gray medium in the background of laser flash method. For the identification part, firstly, the temperature field and the incident radiation field in different positions are chosen as observables. Then,a traditional identification model based on PSO algorithm is established. Finally, multilayer ANNs are built to fit and replace the direct model in the traditional identification model to speed up the identification process. The results show that compared with the traditional identification model, the time cost of the hybrid identification model is reduced by about 1 000 times.Besides, the hybrid identification model remains a high level of accuracy even with measurement errors. 展开更多

On-site and real-time non-destructive measurement of elastic constants for materials of a component in a in-service structure is a challenge due to structural complexities, such as ambiguous boundary, variable thickness, nonuniform material properties. This work develops for the first time a method that uses ultrasound echo groups and artificial neural network(ANN)for reliable on-site real-time identification of material parameters. The use of echo groups allows the use of lower frequencies, and hence more accommodative to structural complexity. To train the ANNs,a numerical model is established that is capable of computing the waveform of ultrasonic echo groups for any given set of material properties of a given structure. The waveform of an ultrasonic echo groups at an interest location on the surface the structure with material parameters varying in a predefined range are then computed using the numerical model. This results in a set of dataset for training the ANN model.Once the ANN is trained, the material parameters can be identified simultaneously using the actual measured echo waveform as input to the ANN.Intensive tests have been conducted both numerically and experimentally to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of the currently proposed method. The results show that the maximum identification error of numerical example is less than 2%,and the maximum identification error of experimental test is less than 7%.Compared with currently prevailing methods and equipment, the proposefy the density and thickness,in addition to the elastic constants. Moreover, the reliability and accuracy of inverse prediction is significantly improved. Thus,it has broad applications and enables real-time field measurements, which has not been fulfilled by any other available methods or equipment. 展开更多

Recent advancements have established machine learning's utility in predicting nonlinear fluid dynamics, with predictive accuracy being a central motivation for employing neural networks. However, the pattern recognition central to the networks function is equally valuable for enhancing our dynamical insight into the complex fluid dynamics. In this paper,a single-layer convolutional neural network(CNN)was trained to recognize three qualitatively different subsonic buffet flows(periodic,quasi-periodic and chaotic)over a high-incidence airfoil, and a near-perfect accuracy was obtained with only a small training dataset. The convolutional kernels and corresponding feature maps, developed by the model with no temporal information provided, identified large-scale coherent structures in agreement with those known to be associated with buffet flows.Sensitivity to hyperparameters including network architecture and convolutional kernel size was also explored. The coherent structures identified by these models enhance our dynamical understanding of subsonic buffet over high-incidence airfoils over a wide range of Reynolds numbers. 展开更多

The extent of the peril associated with cancer can be perceivedfrom the lack of treatment, ineffective early diagnosis techniques, and mostimportantly its fatality rate. Globally, cancer is the second leading cause ofdeath and among over a hundred types of cancer;lung cancer is the secondmost common type of cancer as well as the leading cause of cancer-relateddeaths. Anyhow, an accurate lung cancer diagnosis in a timely manner canelevate the likelihood of survival by a noticeable margin and medical imagingis a prevalent manner of cancer diagnosis since it is easily accessible to peoplearound the globe. Nonetheless, this is not eminently efficacious consideringhuman inspection of medical images can yield a high false positive rate. Ineffectiveand inefficient diagnosis is a crucial reason for such a high mortalityrate for this malady. However, the conspicuous advancements in deep learningand artificial intelligence have stimulated the development of exceedinglyprecise diagnosis systems. The development and performance of these systemsrely prominently on the data that is used to train these systems. A standardproblem witnessed in publicly available medical image datasets is the severeimbalance of data between different classes. This grave imbalance of data canmake a deep learning model biased towards the dominant class and unableto generalize. This study aims to present an end-to-end convolutional neuralnetwork that can accurately differentiate lung nodules from non-nodules andreduce the false positive rate to a bare minimum. To tackle the problem ofdata imbalance, we oversampled the data by transforming available images inthe minority class. The average false positive rate in the proposed method isa mere 1.5 percent. However, the average false negative rate is 31.76 percent. The proposed neural network has 68.66 percent sensitivity and 98.42 percentspecificity. 展开更多

Plant species recognition is an important research area in image recognition in recent years. However, the existing plant species recognition methods have low recognition accuracy and do not meet professional requirements in terms of recognition accuracy.Therefore,ShuffleNetV2 was improved by combining the current hot concern mechanism, convolution kernel size adjustment, convolution tailoring, and CSP technology to improve the accuracy and reduce the amount of computation in this study.Six convolutional neural network models with sufficient trainable parameters were designed for differentiation learning. The SGD algorithm is used to optimize the training process to avoid overfitting or falling into the local optimum. In this paper,a conventional plant image dataset TJAU10 collected by cell phones in a natural context was constructed, containing 3000 images of 10 plant species on the campus of Tianjin Agricultural University. Finally, the improved model is compared with the baseline version of the model, which achieves better results in terms of improving accuracy and reducing the computational effort. The recognition accuracy tested on the TJAU10 dataset reaches up to 98.3%,and the recognition precision reaches up to 93.6%,which is 5.1%better than the original model and reduces the computational effort by about 31%compared with the original model. In addition, the experimental results were evaluated using metrics such as the confusion matrix, which can meet the requirements of professionals for the accurate identification of plant species. 展开更多

A distributed generation system(DG)has several benefits over a traditional centralized power system. However, the protection area in the case of the distributed generator requires special attention as it encounters stability loss, failure re-closure,fluctuations in voltage, etc. And thereby,it demands immediate attention in identifying the location&type of a fault without delay especially when occurred in a small, distributed generation system,as it would adversely affect the overall system and its operation. In the past, several methods were proposed for classification and localisation of a fault in a distributed generation system. Many of those methods were accurate in identifying location, but the accuracy in identifying the type of fault was not up to the acceptable mark. The proposed work here uses a shallow artificial neural network(sANN)model for identifying a particular type of fault that could happen in a specific distribution network when used in conjunction with distributed generators.Firstly,a distribution network consisting of two similar distributed generators(DG1 and DG2),one grid, and a 100 Km distribution line is modeled.Thereafter, different voltages and currents corresponding to various faults(line to line, line to ground)at different locations are tabulated, resulting in a matrix of 500×18 inputs.Secondly, the sANN is formulated for identifying the types of faults in the system in which the above-obtained data is used to train, validate, and test the neural network. The overall result shows an unprecedented almost zero percent error in identifying the type of the faults. 展开更多

As the scale of the power system continues to expand, the environment for power operations becomes more and more complex.Existing risk management and control methods for power operations can only set the same risk detection standard and conduct the risk detection for any scenario indiscriminately. Therefore, more reliable and accurate security control methods are urgently needed. In order to improve the accuracy and reliability of the operation risk management and control method, this paper proposes a method for identifying the key links in the whole process of electric power operation based on the spatiotemporal hybrid convolutional neural network. To provide early warning and control of targeted risks, first, the video stream is framed adaptively according to the pixel changes in the video stream. Then, the optimized MobileNet is used to extract the feature map of the video stream, which contains both time-series and static spatial scene information. The feature maps are combined and non-linearly mapped to realize the identification of dynamic operating scenes. Finally, training samples and test samples are produced by using the whole process image of a power company in Xinjiang as a case study, and the proposed algorithm is compared with the unimproved MobileNet.The experimental results demonstrated that the method proposed in this paper can accurately identify the type and start and end time of each operation link in the whole process of electric power operation, and has good real-time performance. The average accuracy of the algorithm can reach 87.8%,and the frame rate is 61 frames/s,which is of great significance for improving the reliability and accuracy of security control methods. 展开更多

By combining the distributed Kalman filter (DKF) with the back propagation neural network (BPNN),a novel method is proposed to identify the bias of electrostatic suspended gyroscope (ESG). Firstly, the data sets of multi-measurements of the same ESG in different noise environments are "mapped" into a sensor network, and DKF with embedded consensus filters is then used to preprocess the data sets. After transforming the preprocessed results into the trained input and the desired output of neural network,BPNN with the learning rate and the momentum term is further utilized to identify the ESG bias. As demonstrated in the experiment, the proposed approach is effective for the model identification of the ESG bias. 展开更多

A novel adaptive support vector regression neural network (SVR-NN) is proposed, which combines respectively merits of support vector machines and a neural network. First, a support vector regression approach is applied to determine the initial structure and initial weights of the SVR-NN so that the network architecture is easily determined and the hidden nodes can adaptively be constructed based on support vectors. Furthermore, an annealing robust learning algorithm is presented to adjust these hidden node parameters as well as the weights of the SVR-NN. To test the validity of the proposed method, it is demonstrated that the adaptive SVR-NN can be used effectively for the identification of nonlinear dynamic systems. Simulation results show that the identification schemes based on the SVR-NN give considerably better performance and show faster learning in comparison to the previous neural network method. 展开更多

The widespread availability of digital multimedia data has led to a new challenge in digital forensics.Traditional source camera identification algorithms usually rely on various traces in the capturing process. However, these traces have become increasingly difficult to extract due to wide availability of various image processing algorithms.Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)-based algorithms have demonstrated good discriminative capabilities for different brands and even different models of camera devices. However, their performances is not ideal in case of distinguishing between individual devices of the same model, because cameras of the same model typically use the same optical lens, image sensor, and image processing algorithms, that result in minimal overall differences. In this paper,we propose a camera forensics algorithm based on multi-scale feature fusion to address these issues. The proposed algorithm extracts different local features from feature maps of different scales and then fuses them to obtain a comprehensive feature representation. This representation is then fed into a subsequent camera fingerprint classification network.Building upon the Swin-T network,we utilize Transformer Blocks and Graph Convolutional Network(GCN)modules to fuse multi-scale features from different stages of the backbone network.Furthermore,we conduct experiments on established datasets to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

Marine oil spill emulsions are difficult to recover, and the damage to the environment is not easy to eliminate. The use of remote sensing to accurately identify oil spill emulsions is highly important for the protection of marine environments. However, the spectrum of oil emulsions changes due to different water content.Hyperspectral remote sensing and deep learning can use spectral and spatial information to identify different types of oil emulsions.Nonetheless, hyperspectral data can also cause information redundancy, reducing classification accuracy and efficiency, and even overfitting in machine learning models. To address these problems,an oil emulsion deep-learning identification model with spatial-spectral feature fusion is established, and feature bands that can distinguish between crude oil,seawater,water-in-oil emulsion(WO),and oil-in-water emulsion(OW)are filtered based on a standard deviation threshold–mutual information method.Using oil spill airborne hyperspectral data,we conducted identification experiments on oil emulsions in different background waters and under different spatial and temporal conditions, analyzed the transferability of the model, and explored the effects of feature band selection and spectral resolution on the identification of oil emulsions. The results show the following.(1)The standard deviation–mutual information feature selection method is able to effectively extract feature bands that can distinguish between WO,OW,oil slick, and seawater. The number of bands was reduced from 224 to 134 after feature selection on the Airborne Visible Infrared Imaging Spectrometer(AVIRIS)data and from 126 to 100 on the S185 data.(2)With feature selection, the overall accuracy and Kappa of the identification results for the training area are 91.80%and 0.86,respectively,improved by 2.62%and 0.04,and the overall accuracy and Kappa of the identification results for the migration area are 86.53%and 0.80,respectively,improved by 3.45%and 0.05.(3)The oil emulsion identification model has a certain degree of transferability and can effectively identify oil spill emulsions for AVIRIS data at different times and locations, with an overall accuracy of more than 80%,Kappa coefficient of more than 0.7,and F1 score of 0.75 or more for each category.(4)As the spectral resolution decreasing, the model yields different degrees of misclassification for areas with a mixed distribution of oil slick and seawater or mixed distribution of WO and OW.Based on the above experimental results,we demonstrate that the oil emulsion identification model with spatial–spectral feature fusion achieves a high accuracy rate in identifying oil emulsion using airborne hyperspectral data, and can be applied to images under different spatial and temporal conditions.Furthermore,we also elucidate the impact of factors such as spectral resolution and background water bodies on the identification process. These findings provide new reference for future endeavors in automated marine oil spill detection. 展开更多

Deep learning, especially through convolutional neural networks (CNN) such as the U-Net 3D model, has revolutionized fault identification from seismic data, representing a significant leap over traditional methods. Our review traces the evolution of CNN, emphasizing the adaptation and capabilities of the U-Net 3D model in automating seismic fault delineation with unprecedented accuracy. We find: 1) The transition from basic neural networks to sophisticated CNN has enabled remarkable advancements in image recognition, which are directly applicable to analyzing seismic data. The U-Net 3D model, with its innovative architecture, exemplifies this progress by providing a method for detailed and accurate fault detection with reduced manual interpretation bias. 2) The U-Net 3D model has demonstrated its superiority over traditional fault identification methods in several key areas: it has enhanced interpretation accuracy, increased operational efficiency, and reduced the subjectivity of manual methods. 3) Despite these achievements, challenges such as the need for effective data preprocessing, acquisition of high-quality annotated datasets, and achieving model generalization across different geological conditions remain. Future research should therefore focus on developing more complex network architectures and innovative training strategies to refine fault identification performance further. Our findings confirm the transformative potential of deep learning, particularly CNN like the U-Net 3D model, in geosciences, advocating for its broader integration to revolutionize geological exploration and seismic analysis. 展开更多
