The global trends of increasing oil and gas costs have compelled coal possessing countries to start long term underground coal gasification (UCG) projects. These enhance national energy security and are among the cleanest, ecologically safest coal utilization technologies. This paper delineates the major characteristics of such technologies and analyzes technical solutions. Highlighting the desire to develop large scale industrial UCG plants, pilot level projects are presented using a new UCG method developed in Russia by Joint Stock Company Gazprom Promgaz. This method is distinct for its high controllability, stability, and energy efficiency. New, efficient technical solutions have been developed over the last 10-15 years and are patented in Russia. They guarantee controllability and stability of UCG gas produc- tion. Over one hundred iniection and gas production wells have been operated simultaneously. 展开更多

This paper is based on the splitting and merging of 7_1 coal and 7_2 coal in Huaibei Mining(Group) Co., Ltd., and analyzes properties of the roof andcoal in the 7_2 coal of the lower coal seam of bifurcation area, and calculates the damage depth of the floor in the process of 7_1 coal mining. The multi-point displacement meter installation is often challenged by hole collapse, stuck pole and broken installation rod in 7_2 coal of the soft coal seam of bifurcation area, as a result, the base points can't be installed in the specified location. In view of this, this paper adopts a new anchor cable mounting rod which can install the whole base points to the specified location without stuck pole or broken mounting stem. All the basic displacement data can be obtained, and the law of mine pressure appearance in stope and tunnel can be accurately controlled, which can be used to maintain the stability of roadway and the safety of stope. 展开更多

However, a greater emphasis is paid to the given issue in Russia-The development of the federal program for highlevel processing of coal into synthetic motor fuels was initiated. This article describes options of underground coal gasification (UCG) use for the generation of hydrocarbons from UCG gas in the process of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS). The technical and economic analysis of the integrated UCG-FTS powerchemical factories has detected their investment attractiveness and practicability of experimental-industrial testing at coal deposits of the Russian Federation. 展开更多

From the meaning of the coalfield geology, this paper introduces the research progress and status of coalfield geology, including the research on coal basin, stratigraphy of coal-bearing stratigraphic sequences, coal-forming process, structural geology of coalfields, and exploration and development status of coal resources. The paper specially focuses on coal-forming process, including coal formation in terrestrial facies and transgressive / regression events, and introduces new technology which has been applied to research progress in structural geology of coalfield. This paper puts forward a new comprehensive exploration system for coal exploration and reviews regional coal geological exploration results in recent years, such as coal-poor regions of seven provinces in southern China and the coal resources area in northwest China, which will be an important coal-producing area in the future . 展开更多

A large amount of energy is consumed in a coal and gas outburst since a mass of coal is pulverized and ejected, accompanying a great quantity of gas emitted, resulting in a major mining hazard in underground coal mining around the world. Understanding how potential energy stored in gassy coal seams dissipates in the process of outbursting may possibly be a key to clarify the mechanisms responsible for coal and gas outburst. The present study was aimed to evaluate energy for crushing coal to various size fractions in coal and gas outbursts through theoretical and experimental investigation into the shape of fine coal particles and their equivalent diameter. Theoretical analysis indicates that the shape of a particle has a significant impact both on its equivalent diameter and hence on its outer surface area.Microscopic observations demonstrate the particle fraction with diameters less than 0.075 mm, produced from crushing coal samples, mostly takes on a spherical or ellipsoidal shape, and experimental data also show this part of particles consists of 30%–50% surface area newly generated from crushing operation,though these fine coal accounts for only less than ten percentages by weight. Further, analysis of experimental data indicates that the total surface area of this particle size fraction varies exponentially with input crushing energy, and the specific area energy is not a constant but probably in association with physical properties and textures of material. 展开更多
