The forewing of a termite from Early Miocene lake sediments in Otago, southern New Zealand is figured and described. It exhibits the generic characters of the damp-wood termite Stolotermes Hagen, but differs from forewings of the known species in size and venation pattern and is described as Stolotermes kupe sp. nov. S. kupe represents the first confident record of fossil Stolotermitidae and extends the fossil record of the family back to the Early Miocene. It also is the first direct evidence of fossil Isoptera from New Zealand, though silicified termite faecal pellets, referable to Kalotermes brauni, have been previously described. S. kupe indicates that Stolotermitidae has been present in the Australasian region since at least the Early Miocene. 展开更多

This paper describes new fossils of Equus huanghoensis from an Early Pleistocene bed in Nihewan, Hebei Province, which confirms the classification of E. huanghoensis by Chinese researchers. The new fossils include a relatively complete male skull and mandible with all upper and lower dentition, a broken female skull with fragment of mandible and a broken Mc III of Equus sp. The fossils were collected from the Yangshuizhan site of Nihewan. The age of the formation is about 1.6 Ma. The new materials verify some classification characteristics based on teeth published in previous descriptions. These characteristics include large teeth size, short protocone, and tilted protoloph and metaloph. We have added to these characteristics of large skull size, a developed protuberantia supramagna, pentagonal nuchal side, weak Pli cabaline, simple enamel plications; a series of new characteristics strikingly different from the other Equus horses. The broken Mc III is similar to Equus qingyangensis from Qingyang, Gansu. 展开更多

The species Karatavocoris asiatica Becker-Migdisova, 1963, which was considered to be a member of the family Coreidae is transferred to the Pachymeridiidae. Two well-preserved fossil dragonflies from the Late Mesozoic Yixian Formation, Liaoning Province, China are described and assigned to a new genus, Sopholibellula gen. nov. in Araripelibellulidae Bechly, 1996, closely related to the type genus Araripelibellula. This new genus differs from AraripelibeUula in the following characters: origins of RP and MA distinctly separated at arculus in both pairs of wings; anal loop wider and shorter, with Y-shaped veins inside; MA and IR2 not zigzag; several small intercalary veins present in the postdiscoidal area of hindwing; cells smaller and much more dense, especially in the apex and hind margin; bigger in size. Abstract Jurassonurus amoenus, a new genus and species of Siphlonuridae s. I. is described from the Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation of the Daohugou Village, Shantou Township, Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia, China. The new species is estab- lished by more than 20 imago and subimago specimens in relatively good condition. Detailed description and illustration of the specimens along with a review of fossil Siphlonuridae s. I. are given. Comparing with two known dominant nymph species Fuyous gregarious Zhang and Kluge, 2007 and Shantous lacustri Zhang and Kluge, 2007 from the same locality, we could not find any relationship among them. One new genus and three new species of the weevil family Eccoptarthridae (Curculionoidea), Leptocar polychaetus gen. et sp. nov., Abrocar macilentus sp. nov., Cretonanophyes punctatus sp. nov., are described and illustrated. They pertain to the Upper Jurassic or Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of western Liaoning Province, China. The host plants to the living eccoptarthrids and the floras in Yixian Formation indicate that those archaic eccoptarthrids possibly lived on conifers with a phylogenetic closeness to Cupressaceae. Besides, the early diversification of eccoptarthrids is discussed: origi- nated in Central or East Asia in the Late Jurassic, spread into Western Europe and South America during the Early Cretaceous, underwent a dramatic decline after the Early Cretaceous which likely was caused by competitive pressure and the displacement of their host plants. 展开更多

For studying new and renewable energy as a substitute for fossil energy in primary energy consumption and its impact on carbon emissions to cope with economic uncertainties, a multi-sector DSGE model was employed to simulate the dynamic impact on carbon emissions and macroeconomic development. The structural adjustment of energy consumption and the carbon emissions mitigation policy were considered in the model. The simulation results showed that using new and renewable energy instead of fossil energy is an optimal choice for the firms to comply with the regulations of carbon emission mitigation policy. Structural adjustment of energy consumption is the best route to achieve the dual goal of economic development and carbon emission reduction. Unexpected sharp fall in free carbon quota has a negative impact on the economy. 展开更多

The larger size of the new specimen, the lower number of CuA1 branches, and the occurrence of two rows of cells between MP and CuA in forewings justify the erection of a new species, J. grandis sp. nov.. Gondvanoaphis estephani new subfamily, new genus and species of the recent aphids family Thelaxidae is described. The characters of the new genus in respect to other genera placed in Thelaxidae are reviewed. With the new species added herein, the number of species of this subgenus totals four. 古脊椎动物多样性数据资源是研究地球历史以及深时生命演化的重要信息来源,古脊椎动物物种名录是研究古脊椎动物多样性的重要基础,及时了解古脊椎动物分类单元数据的更新,可以实时掌握古脊椎动物多样性的研究热点,把握学科发展脉络。基... 古脊椎动物多样性数据资源是研究地球历史以及深时生命演化的重要信息来源,古脊椎动物物种名录是研究古脊椎动物多样性的重要基础,及时了解古脊椎动物分类单元数据的更新,可以实时掌握古脊椎动物多样性的研究热点,把握学科发展脉络。基于“深骨”数据库,文章利用文献计量学方法对近5年古脊椎动物不同类群新分类单元的年变化特征、分布地、发表期刊以及主要贡献的机构进行了梳理。分析结果显示,近5年全球新增古脊椎动物分类单元2662个,涉及文献1946篇,在2019年底新冠疫情爆发后,古脊椎动物新分类单元和文章数量均呈下降趋势。近5年全球古脊椎动物新分类单元模式标本主要分布在古脊椎动物化石资源丰富、经济和科研实力较强的国家,主要有美国、中国、新西兰、阿根廷和德国。Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology、Cretaceous Research、Historical Biology、PeerJ和Journal of Systematic Palaeontology等刊物是新分类单元发表的主要载刊,而贡献度最高的机构分别为中国科学院、俄罗斯科学院、阿根廷国家科学与技术研究理事会和美国自然历史博物馆等单位,且各机构的研究合作十分密切。中国古脊椎动物分类学的研究已处于世界领先水平,未来还应该继续加强古脊椎动物多样性基础数据积累,为探讨生物多样性的起源和演化提供支撑。 展开更多
