Advances in machine learning-and artificial intelligence-assisted material design of steels

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology and increasing material data,machine learning-and artificial intelligence-assisted design of high-performance steel materials is becoming a mainstream paradigm in materials science.Machine learning methods,based on an interdisciplinary discipline between computer science,statistics and material science,are good at discovering correlations between numerous data points.Compared with the traditional physical modeling method in material science,the main advantage of machine learning is that it overcomes the complex physical mechanisms of the material itself and provides a new perspective for the research and development of novel materials.This review starts with data preprocessing and the introduction of different machine learning models,including algorithm selection and model evaluation.Then,some successful cases of applying machine learning methods in the field of steel research are reviewed based on the main theme of optimizing composition,structure,processing,and performance.The application of machine learning methods to the performance-oriented inverse design of material composition and detection of steel defects is also reviewed.Finally,the applicability and limitations of machine learning in the material field are summarized,and future directions and prospects are discussed.

Paradigm Change of Translation Studies in the Era of Big Data

The advent of the era of big data has caused paradigm changes in translation studies,and the combination of big data technology and thinking with translation studies has further interdisciplinaryized translation studies and presented characteristics such as quantification,expansion of research horizon and scale.Scholars should pay attention to the prospect of translation studies while paying attention to corpus translation studies:the shift of research in text patterns;the spatial turn of and media integration of translation studies.In the process of translatology research in the era of big data,the limitations of digital technology and big data research are also noted.

The Aerosol-Monsoon Climate System of Asia:A New Paradigm

This commentary is based on a series of recent lectures on aerosol-monsoon interactions I gave at the Beijing Normal University in August 2015. A main theme of the lectures is on a new paradigm of ＂An Aerosol-Monsoon-Climate-System＂, which posits that aerosol, like rainfall, cloud, and wind, is an integral component of the monsoon climate system, influencing monsoon weather and climate on M1 timescales. Here, salient issues discussed in my lectures and my personal perspective regarding interactions between atmospheric dynamics and aerosols from both natural and anthropogenic sources are summarized. My hope is that under this new paradigm, we can break down traditional disciplinary barriers, advance a deeper understanding of weather and climate in monsoon regions, as well as entrain a new generation of geoscientists to strive for a sustainable future for one of the most complex and challenging human-natural climate sub-system of the earth.

Discussion on a new paradigm of endogenous security towards 6G networks

The sixth-generation mobile communication(6G)networks will face more complex endogenous security problems,and it is urgent to propose new universal security theories and establish new practice norms to deal with theªunknown unknownºsecurity threats in cyberspace.This paper first expounds the new paradigm of cyberspace endogenous security and introduces the vision of 6G cyberspace security.Then,it analyzes the security problems faced by the 6G core network,wireless access network,and emerging associated technologies in detail,as well as the corresponding security technology development status and the integrated development of endogenous security and traditional security.Furthermore,this paper describes the relevant security theories and technical concepts under the guidance of the new paradigm of endogenous security.

Consumption Tax Reform in Accelerating the Establishment of a New Development Paradigm

Accelerating the establishment of a new development paradigm in which domestic and overseas markets reinforce each other,with the domestic market as the mainstay,has posed new requirements for deepening the consumption tax reform.Therefore,we need to focus on accelerating the establishment of a new development paradigm,combined with the establishment of a modern fiscal and tax system and tax attributes,and make effective institutional arrangements for comprehensively promoting consumption,expanding domestic demand and then forming a strong domestic market.It is meaningful to reduce tax on consumer goods involved in upgrading consumption to meet people’s needs for a better life and to raise tax on high energy-consuming,highly polluting and unhealthy consumer goods to enhance the regulatory role of consumption tax and to promote the overall optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure.The revenue of consumption tax on key tax items(categories)should belong to the central government to facilitate the smooth flow of the economic circulation.

Value Circulation,Economic Structure,and the New Development Paradigm:A Theoretical Framework of Political Economy and International Comparison

This study constructs a theoretical framework for understanding the new development paradigm based on value circulation and the reproduction theory of Marx.According to these theories,the essence of economic circulation is value circulation,the core of which is mutual matching among the structures of technological,distribution,demand,and production.We adopted a three-sector reproduction model with fixed capital to understand different development paradigms under various combinations of the four aforementioned structures.On this basis,we use the 1957-2017 input-output table to construct the three-sector tables and explain the logic of China’s economic structure change and the characteristics of the resulting circulation patterns.We also compared the economic structures and circulation patterns of the United States and Japan with those of China to shed light on China’s choice of future economic circulation patterns and the new development paradigms.

Will Russia become a blueprint for emerging nations’hightech reforms?evidence from a 26-countries dataset

The central question of this study concerns the emergence of the Russian development model over the past decade.It highlights that this development model could be a blueprint for other emerging markets.Russia is one of the leaders of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,having improved its standing in international ratings for quality of life,human development,sustainable development,innovation,and high technology.Russia's experience can be helpful to developing countries.We study and evaluate innovation in a digital business society amid technological turmoil competing with artificial intelligence.We focus on the digital competitiveness index,the density of robots in industry,and unemployment,thereby building a novel comprehensive dataset of the economy's systemic socioeconomic and technological development under the conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.We draw attention to Russia's new business environment that exhibits valuable specifics(e.g.,emerging institutions and imperfect competition as clouds in the business landscape)shaped by its current transitional character.We estimate that technological progress will ensure digitalization,the prevention of extended unemployment,and the achievement of full-scale automation.Russia's innovation policy has substantial advantages for emerging market settings.This study also shows that institutionalizing the new approach provides enduring digital economy advantages for emerging markets,including effectiveness,progressiveness,and sustainability.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface-aided wireless communications: An overview

The reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)is an emerging technology,which will hopefully bring a new revolution in wireless communications.The RIS technology can be deployed in an indoor/outdoor environment to dynamically manipulate the propagation environment.The RIS consists of a large number of independently controllable passive elements,and these elements are involved in realizing high passive beamforming gain.Different from the conventional active phased antenna array,there is no dedicated radio-frequency(RF)chain installed at the RIS to perform complex signal processing operations.Therefore,it does not incur additional noise while retransmitting the incident wave,which is substantially a unique feature from the conventional wireless communication systems.Taking advantage of its working principle,RIS has been deployed in various practical scenarios.In this tutorial,at first we will review the latest advances in RIS,including the application scenarios such as the system and channel model,the information theoretic analysis,the physical realization and design,key signal processing techniques such as precoding and channel estimation,and prototyping.Finally,we discuss interesting future research problems for the RIS-aided communications.
