Ambient noise tomography of a linear seismic array based on an improved Voronoi tessellation

Ambient noise tomography,when applied to a dense linear seismic array,has the capability to provide detailed insights into the fine velocity structures across diverse tectonic settings.The linear station arrangement naturally generates parallel and concentrated ray paths along the array trend.This unique geometry requires specific optimization of the inversion methodology and model parameterization.The Bayesian-based transdimensional inversion method,characterized by its fully non-linear nature and high degree of freedom in parameter settings,offers a powerful tool for ambient noise inversion.To effectively adapt this method to a linear array layout,we propose a modification to the Voronoi cell tessellation built in the transdimensional method.By introducing spatial priority to the Voronoi kernels,we strategically increased the density of Voronoi cells along the direction of the array.We then applied the modified approach to a linear seismic array in the North China Craton and validated its robustness through phase velocity images and resolution tests.Our improved non-uniform sampling technique in the 2-D model space accelerates convergence while simultaneously enhancing model accuracy.Compared with the conventional damped leastsquares method,the proposed algorithm revealed a shear-wave velocity map with notable low-velocity anomalies situated in the middle and lower crust beneath the borders of the Ordos block and its surrounding orogenic belt.Aligned with the crustal structures revealed by receiver function and electrical imaging,our findings indicated that the western and eastern margins of the Ordos block had experienced intensive crustal wedge deformation and re-melting,respectively. 展开更多

Acoustic mode is crucial for duct propagation but little study about the relation between serration and mode. Thus, taking axial single-turbine test bench NPU-Turb as object, the effect of Stator with Serrated Trailing-edge (Bionic S) and Rotor with Serrated Leading-edge (Bionic R) on duct acoustic modes of turbine turbulence interac-tion noise were studied in detail using DDES/AA hybrid model validated by acoustic experiment of NPU-Turb. Serval conclusions can be made here. First, for broadband noise, the effect of serrations on duct modes (increased or reduced of PWL<sub>mn</sub>) with the increasing frequency is more prominent. Second, the changing trend of ?PWL<sub>mn</sub> is something like Chinese character “人” with circumferential mode m and alternating with radial mode. Such distribution is more obvious at higher frequency. More theoretical and mechanistic research work needs to be carried out in depth in the future. . 展开更多

The study of composition of ambient noise is important for a better understanding of this method. Previous studies confirm that ambient noise in the long period (3 s and longer) mostly consists of surface wave, and 0.25-2.5 s noise consists more of body waves. In this paper, we perform cross correlation processing at much higher frequency (30-70 Hz) using ambient noise recorded by a small aperture array. No surface waves emerge from noise correlation function (NCF), but weak P waves emerge. The absence of surface wave in NCF is not due to high attenuation since surface waves are strong from active source, therefore probably the high ambient noise mostly consists of body wave and lacks surface wave. Origin of such high frequency body waves in ambient noise remains to be studied. 展开更多

广州—佛山地区位于珠三角经济区的核心地带,三条区域性断裂从中交错穿过.广州—佛山地区精细的地壳浅部三维S波速度结构,对于研究区内的城市规划建设、地震灾害评估、强地面运动模拟等具有重要意义.本文利用布设于广州—佛山地区短周... 广州—佛山地区位于珠三角经济区的核心地带,三条区域性断裂从中交错穿过.广州—佛山地区精细的地壳浅部三维S波速度结构,对于研究区内的城市规划建设、地震灾害评估、强地面运动模拟等具有重要意义.本文利用布设于广州—佛山地区短周期密集地震台阵中的1104个台站记录到的连续波形数据,采用背景噪声互相关方法计算了台站对间的互相关函数并进一步提取到周期范围在0.1~5 s内的39488条高质量面波群速度频散曲线,然后通过基于射线追踪的面波直接反演方法计算得到了研究区内0.3~3 km深度的高分辨率三维S波速度结构.结果显示:研究区内地壳浅部S波速度横向差异显著,其中南部的珠江三角洲断陷盆地S波速度结构相对较为复杂,而北部的广花盆地内部S波速度结构则表现相对简单.研究区内的低速异常主要位于断裂附近,且大都位于断裂的下降盘.珠江三角洲内三水盆地东缘表现为马鞍状低速异常,向下最大延伸至2 km,低速体南北两侧边界与控盆断裂位置基本一致.广花盆地内部存在两个平行排列的高速异常,中间夹持一平行构造走向的低速异常,总体速度结构特征符合广花盆地为一复式向斜的地质构造背景.低速异常向下延伸至1.4 km深度处,可能指示了卷入向斜地层的最大埋深.沿广州—从化断裂发育条带状低速异常,与沿断裂形成的沉积地层有关.条带状异常在浅部分为两段,表明广州—从化断裂在历史上可能具有分段活动性.玉带公园周围被高速异常环绕,异常向上延伸至距地表约1.3 km处,结合研究区已有资料推测该高速异常可能为早期岩浆侵入在地壳浅部的反映. 展开更多

Comparison of ground truth location of earthquake from InSAR and from ambient seismic noise: A case study of the 1998 Zhangbei earthquake 被引量:8

Because ambient seismic noise provides estimated Green’s function (EGF) between two sites with high accuracy, Rayleigh wave propagation along the path connecting the two sites is well resolved. Therefore, earthquakes which are close to one seismic station can be well located with calibration extracting from EGF. We test two algorithms in locating the 1998 Zhangbei earthquake, one algorithm is waveform-based, and the other is traveltime-based. We first compute EGF between station ZHB (a station about 40 km away from the epicenter) and five IC/IRIS stations. With the waveform-based approach, we calculate 1D synthetic single-force Green’s functions between ZHB and other four stations, and obtain traveltime corrections by correlating synthetic Green’s functions with EGFs in period band of 10–30 s. Then we locate the earthquake by minimizing the differential travel times between observed earthquake waveform and the 1D synthetic earthquake waveforms computed with focal mechanism provided by Global CMT after traveltime correction from EGFs. This waveform-based approach yields a location which error is about 13 km away from the location observed with InSAR. With the traveltime-based approach, we begin with measuring group velocity from EGFs as well as group arrival time on observed earthquake waveforms, and then locate the earthquake by minimizing the difference between observed group arrival time and arrival time measured on EGFs. This traveltime-based approach yields accuracy of 3 km, Therefore it is feasible to achieve GT5 (ground truth location with accuracy 5 km) with ambient seismic noises. The less accuracy of the waveform-based approach was mainly caused by uncertainty of focal mechanism. 展开更多

The method of extracting Green's function between stations from cross correlation has proven to be effective theoretically and experimentally. It has been widely applied to surface wave tomography of the crust and upmost mantle. However, there are still controversies about why this method works. Snieder employed stationary phase approximation in evaluating contribution to cross correlation function from scatterers in the whole space, and concluded that it is the constructive interference of waves emitted by the scatterers near the receiver line that leads to the emergence of Green's function. His derivation demonstrates that cross correlation function is just the convolution of noise power spectrum and the Green's function. However, his derivation ignores influence from the two stationary points at infinities, therefore it may fail when attenuation is absent. In order to obtain accurate noise-correlation function due to scatters over the whole space, we compute the total contribution with numerical integration in polar coordinates. Our numerical computation of cross correlation function indicates that the incomplete stationary phase approximation introduces remarkable errors to the cross correlation function, in both amplitude and phase, when the frequency is low with reasonable quality factor Q. Our results argue that the dis- tance between stations has to be beyond several wavelengths in order to reduce the influence of this inaccuracy on the applications of ambient noise method, and only the station pairs whose distances are above several (〉5) wavelengths can be used. 展开更多

Quantum system is inevitably affected by the external environment in the real world.Two controlled quantum dialogue protocols are put forward based on logicalχ-type states under collective noise environment.One is against collectivedephasing noise,while the other is against collective-rotation noise.Compared with existing protocols,there exist several outstanding advantages in our proposed protocols:Firstly,theχ-type state is utilized as quantum channels,it possesses better entanglement properties than GHZ state,W state as well as cluster state,which make it difficult to be destroyed by local operations.Secondly,two kinds of logicalχ-type states are constructed by us in theory,which can be perfectly immune to the effects of collective noise.Thirdly,the controller can be offline after quantum distribution and permission announcement,without waiting for all the participants to complete the information coding.Fourthly,the security analysis illuminates that our protocols can not only be free from the information leakage,but also resist against the interceptand-resend attack,the entanglement-and-measure attack,the modification attack,the conspiring attack,and especially the dishonest controller’s attacks. 展开更多

在我国地震预警和烈度速报系统中,烈度计被广泛使用。烈度计的频谱特征主要是通过检定实验室进行标定,但在破坏性地震中,烈度计响应特点缺少必要的研究分析。该文以2022年四川泸定M_(S)6.8级地震为例,对比分析了烈度计记录和强震仪记录... 在我国地震预警和烈度速报系统中,烈度计被广泛使用。烈度计的频谱特征主要是通过检定实验室进行标定,但在破坏性地震中,烈度计响应特点缺少必要的研究分析。该文以2022年四川泸定M_(S)6.8级地震为例,对比分析了烈度计记录和强震仪记录在噪声水平、信噪比(signal-to-noise ratio,SNR)、高通滤波截止频率(f_(HP))取值以及有效周期范围(T_(max))方面的特点,综合评价了烈度计记录的频谱特征,分析了噪声影响。得到以下结论:在整个频域范围内,烈度计记录的SNR要比强震仪记录平均意义上低一个数量级,可以估计烈度计动态范围较强震仪大致低20 dB;烈度计记录的最佳f_(HP)取值相较于强震仪记录存在更大的不确定性,尤其是在竖直方向上;烈度计记录的最佳f_(HP)取值更大,反应谱T_(max)较传统强震仪记录在水平方向小1~2 s,在竖直方向小3 s左右。该研究结果有助于合理应用烈度计记录,服务地震学和地震工程学相关研究。 展开更多

青藏高原东南缘三维S波速度和径向各向异性及泸定M_(S)6.8和芦山M_(S)7.0地震孕震环境探讨

利用青藏高原东南缘布设的684个流动地震台和150个固定地震台的连续背景噪声波形数据,提取了周期5~50 s的Rayleigh波和Love波相速度频散,并反演获得了该区域下方0~70 km三维S波速度和径向各向异性结构.结果表明:(1)受川滇地块南部高速... 利用青藏高原东南缘布设的684个流动地震台和150个固定地震台的连续背景噪声波形数据,提取了周期5~50 s的Rayleigh波和Love波相速度频散,并反演获得了该区域下方0~70 km三维S波速度和径向各向异性结构.结果表明:(1)受川滇地块南部高速体的阻挡,东南缘中下地壳内存在两条空间分布独立的低速带.西侧(L1)从川滇地块北部向南延伸至滇西南地块,其中下地壳平均V_(S)小于3.4 km·s^(-1)并表现为正径向各向异性结构,反映了高原中下地壳可能存在部分熔融和韧性变形;东侧低速带(L2)沿着小江断层南北分布,受到红河断层的阻挡,弱物质不太可能进入滇西南地块,该区域下地壳和上地幔顶部均显示较强的正各向异性,推测其更可能是沿小江断层相互驱动的块体在横向挤压过程中引起的地壳部分熔融而导致.(2)芦山M_(S)7.0地震位于龙门山逆冲断层南段,泸定M_(S)6.8地震位于鲜水河走滑断层东南段,两者都发生在地壳浅层高低速异常过渡带上,但其深部孕震环境有所不同.芦山震区西北部中下地壳低速体为负各向异性,推测韧性物质沿着龙门山下方陡倾断层向上运移,上地壳积累应力并通过薄弱区域释放导致了芦山地震的发生;泸定震区为正各向异性的中下地壳韧性变形促进了川滇地块SE向的水平运动,受刚性的四川盆地阻挡,加剧了上地壳发震断层的滑动变形和应力积累,脆性上地壳突然破裂导致了泸定地震的发生. 展开更多

HVSR(Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio)是地震背景噪声水平分量与垂直分量的频谱比,常被用来探测起伏地形较小的浅地表速度结构.然而,高起伏地形下该方法的适用性还需要仔细研究.本文探讨利用HVSR方法探测四川理县西山村滑坡的速度结构.我们首先将ENZ坐标系下三分量地震数据旋转到垂直于地形自由面的LQT坐标系,分别计算了两个坐标系下2 h地震背景噪声数据的HVSR曲线,对比结果发现,LQT坐标系下三分量数据的HVSR峰值频率更能反映地下结构信息.然后,本文反演了29个台站LQT坐标系的HVSR曲线,获得了滑坡体堆积物及基岩的一维S波速度结构.西山村滑坡体堆积物的S波速度范围为50~1000 m·s^(-1),滑坡厚度23~130 m.滑坡体西侧边缘地下40~120 m处存在10~20 m的低速层,表明该位置抗剪强度相对较弱,是潜在的滑动危险区域.对数据进行坐标系转换后,HVSR方法能够利用较短的观测数据获取可靠的滑坡体速度结构,为滑坡体积估算、脆弱位置识别、灾害评估提供重要信息. 展开更多

We use non-equilibrium Green's function method to analyze the shot noise spectrum of artificial single molecular magnets(ASMM) model in the strong spin–orbit coupling limit in sequential tunneling regime, mainly focusing on the effects of local large spin. In the linear response regime, the shot noise shows 2S + 1 peaks and is strongly spin-dependent.In the nonlinear response regime, one can observe 2S + 1 steps in shot noise and Fano factor. In these steps one can see the significant enhancement effect due to the spin-dependent multi-channel process of local large spin, which reduces electron correlations. 展开更多

Seismic ambient noise of surface wave tomography was applied to estimate Rayleigh wave empirical Green's functions (EGFs) and then to study crust and uppermost mantle structure beneath the Makran region in south-east 1mn. 12 months of continuous data from January 2009 through January 2010, recorded at broadband seismic stations, were analyzed. Group velocities of the fundamental mode Rayleigh wave dispersion curves were obtained from the empirical Green's functions. Multiple- filter analysis was used to plot group velocity variations at periods from 10 to 50 s. Using group velocity dispersion curves, 1-D Vs velocity models were calculated between several station pairs. The final results demonstrate signifi- cant agreement to known geological and tectonic features. Our tomography maps display low-velocity anomaly with SW-NE trend, comparable with volcanic arc settings of the Makran region which may be attributable to the geometry of Arabian Plate subducting beneath the overriding the Lut block. The northward subducting Arabian Plate is deter- mined by high-velocity anomaly along the Straits of Hor- muz. At short periods (〈20 s), there is a sharp transition boundary between low- and high-velocity transition zone with the NW trending at the western edge of Makran which is attributable to the Minab fault system. 展开更多

The work presented in this paper aims at investigating the ability of acoustic noise correlation technique for railway infrastructure health monitoring. The principle of this technique is based on impulse responses reconstruction by correlation of random noise propagated in the medium. Since wheel-rail interaction constitutes a source of such noise, correlation technique could be convenient for detection of rail defects using only passive sensors. Experiments have been carried out on a 2 m-long rail sample. Acoustic noise is generated in the sample at several positions. Direct comparison between an active emission-reception response and the estimated noise correlation function has confirmed the validity of the equivalence relation between them. The quality of the reconstruction is shown to be strongly related to the spatial distribution of the noise sources. High sensitivity of the noise-correlation functions to a local defect on the rail is also demonstrated. However, interpretation of the defect signature is more ambiguous than when using classical active responses. Application of a spatiotemporal Fourier transform on data recorded with variable sensor-defect distances has allowed overcoming this ambiguity. 展开更多

为获取厦门岛浅层三维速度结构,本文使用福建省地震局于2019年布设的50个流动地震台站组成的密集台阵所记录到的垂向分量波形数据,计算背景噪声互相关,利用频率-贝塞尔变换(F-J)法提取子台阵的瑞利波相速度频散曲线进行反演,获取子台阵... 为获取厦门岛浅层三维速度结构,本文使用福建省地震局于2019年布设的50个流动地震台站组成的密集台阵所记录到的垂向分量波形数据,计算背景噪声互相关,利用频率-贝塞尔变换(F-J)法提取子台阵的瑞利波相速度频散曲线进行反演,获取子台阵下方一维S波速度结构,并通过插值得到厦门岛4 km以内的三维S波速度模型.结果表明,整体上厦门岛S波速度随深度增加呈现递增趋势,在近地表处的横向不均匀性显著.0~1 km深度的S波速度大体上呈现“北高南低”的特征,与岩性分布有较好的对应关系.随着深度的递增,高低速特征分布逐渐呈现为连续性较好,近北东向展布的条带状.结合前人研究结果,本文推测这一现象与厦门岛岩层在不同时期受到挤压和拉张作用形成的褶皱和断裂相关,反映了厦门岛所经历的多次构造变动和岩浆侵入事件.垂向剖面的速度差明显区与研究区断裂带位置具有一定的对应关系.研究结果可为厦门岛的构造演化研究和地质灾害评估提供新的科学依据. 展开更多

In this paper,the dispersion curves of the Rayleigh wave and Love wave were extracted from the seismic noise records of 25 broadband stations of the Fujian Seismic Network, and inverted for the lithosphere velocity structure. Furthermore,the velocity model was verified by the seismic explosion observations. Our results indicate that the resolution of the lithosphere velocity structure obtained by this method is good in the shallow part,but in the deep part,inversion accuracy for the wave velocity structure is low,which is caused mainly by the small inter-station distance chosen in the paper. Thus the wave dispersion curves have high accuracy in the short-period part,but the warp of the wave dispersion curve in long-period part is large. Considering the results from both the noise inversion and the traditional inversion,we finally present a new velocity model,and the theoretical travel time calculated with the new model matches the explosion travel time very well. 展开更多

We perform Rayleigh wave tomography in east Guangdong and its surrounding regions by applying the ambient noise method to broadband data recorded at 26 stations from Guangdong,Fujian and Jiangxi Digital Seismic Networks.Cross-correlations of verticalcomponent ambient noise data are computed in one-day segments and stacked over seven months from March to September,2011.Then Rayleigh wave group dispersion curves are measured using the frequency-time analysis method.Group velocity maps at periods from5s to 15s are inverted.The resulting group velocity maps generally show good correlation with tectonic features,reflecting the velocity variations in the shallow crust.The basin areas are clearly resolved with lower group velocities at the short periods due to thick sedimentary layers,and the mountain areas with higher group velocities due to thin sedimentary layers.The variations of group velocity on the map can draw out the distribution of basins and mountains in study areas.The geothermal field can change the group velocity obviously,and lower group velocities are always found in high geothermal areas.The velocity maps indicate that a low-velocity layer may be found in the study areas. 展开更多
