The...In 2010, Chinese maize yields increased from 961.5 kg ha-1 in 1949 to 5 453.8 kg ha-L This increase is the result of genetic improvements, an increase in nitrogen application, and refinement of planting densities. The objective of this study was to provide a theoretical basis for maize production research by analyzing the maize yield gain characteristics. Six varieties of maize were selected for the study; each selection is representative of a typical or commonly used maize variety from a specific decade, beginning from the 1950s and continuing through each decade into the 2000s. The selections and their corresponding decade were as follows: Baihe, 1950s; Jidan 101, 1960s; Zhongdan 2, 1970s; Yedan 13, 1980s; Zhengdan 958, 1990s; and Xianyu 335, 2000s. Each variety was planted under four different densities (37 500, 52 500, 67 500, and 82 500 plants ha-0 and four different nitrogen applications (0, 150, 225, and 300 kg ha-1 to study the effects on yield gain characteristics. The obtained results demonstrated that there was a maize yield increase of 123.19% between the 1950s variety and the 2000s variety. Modern Chinese maize varieties had a higher yield advantage. They also displayed the additional potential to acquire higher yield under increased planting densities and nitrogen applications. At the present cultivation levels (planting at 67 500 plants ha-~ with 225 kg ha-1 nitrogen application), the contribution types and corresponding yield increase percentages were as follows: genetic improvement, 45.37%; agronomic-management improvement, 30.94%; and genotype× agronomicmanagement interaction, 23.69%. At high-yielding cultivation levels (planting at 82 500 plants ha-1 with 300 kg ha-1 nitrogen application), the contribution types and corresponding yield increase percentages were as follows: genetic improvement, 31.30%; agronomic-management improvement, 36.23%; and genotype × agronomic-management interaction, 32.47%. The contribution of agronomic-management and genotype ×agronomic-management interaction to yield increase would be larger with the corresponding management improvement. To further increase maize grain yield in China, researchers should further examine the adaptation of variety to agronomic-management. effects of agronomic-management on maize yield and the展开更多

This article presents a ...In the dynamics analysis and synthesis of a controlled system, it is important to know for what feedback gains can the controlled system decay to the demanded steady state as fast as possible. This article presents a systematic method for finding the optimal feedback gains by taking the stability of an inverted pendulum system with a delayed proportional-derivative controller as an example. First, the condition for the existence and uniqueness of the stable region in the gain plane is obtained by using the D-subdivision method and the method of stability switch. Then the same procedure is used repeatedly to shrink the stable region by decreasing the real part of the rightmost characteristic root. Finally, the optimal feedback gains within the stable region that minimizes the real part of the rightmost root are expressed by an explicit formula. With the optimal feedback gains, the controlled inverted pendulum decays to its trivial equilibrium at the fastest speed when the initial values around the origin are fixed. The main results are checked by numerical simulation.展开更多

This study determined wheat genetic gains by evaluating 22 winter/facultat...Wheat breeders in Turkey have been developing new varieties since the 1920 s, but few studies have evaluated the rates of genetic improvement. This study determined wheat genetic gains by evaluating 22 winter/facultative varieties released for rainfed conditions between 1931 and2006. The study was conducted at three locations in Turkey during 2008-2012, with a total of 21 test sites. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replicates in2008 and 2009 and three replicates in 2010-2012. Regression analysis was conducted to determine genetic progress over time. Mean yield across all 21 locations was 3.34 t ha^(-1) but varied from 1.11 ha^(-1) to 6.02 t ha^(-1) and was highly affected by moisture stress. Annual genetic gain was 0.50% compared to Ak-702, or 0.30% compared to the first modern landmark varieties. The genetic gains in drought-affected sites were 0.75% compared to Ak-702 and0.66% compared to the landmark varieties. Modem varieties had both improved yield potential and tolerance to moisture stress. Rht genes and rye translocations were largely absent in the varieties studied. The number of spikes per unit area decreased by 10% over the study period,but grains spike^(-1) and 1000-kemel weight increased by 10%. There were no significant increases in harvest index, grain size, or spike fertility, and no significant decrease in quality over time. Future use of Rht genes and rye translocations in breeding programs may increase yield under rainfed conditions.展开更多

The proposed improved PE (IMPE) algorithm can overcome the threshold effect of PE by introducing compression gain (CG) metric, which forces PE suppressor active only at larger jammer-to-signal ratio (JSR) and switch to matched filter (MF) at lower JSR. By using a pump source of a 30-ps, 532-nm laser, the gain coefficie...In this paper, the Raman gain coefficients of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystals are measured. By using a pump source of a 30-ps, 532-nm laser, the gain coefficients of ADP and KDP are 1.22 cm/GW, and 0.91 cm/GW, respectively. While for a 20-ps, 355-nm pump laser, the gain coefficients of these two crystals are similar, which are 1.95 cm/GW for ADP and 1.86 for KDP. The present results indicate that for ultra-violet frequency conversion, the problem of stimulated Raman scattering for ADP crystal will not be more serious than that for KDP crystal. Considering other advantages such the larger nonlinear optical coefficient, higher laser damage threshold, and lower noncritical phase-matching temperature, it can be anticipated that ADP will be a powerful competitor to KDP in large aperture, high energy third-harmonic generation or fourth-harmonic generation applications.展开更多
The replacement of winter wheat varieties has contributed significantly to yield improvement worldwide,with remarkable progress in China.Drawing on two sets of data,production yield from the National Bureau of Statist...The replacement of winter wheat varieties has contributed significantly to yield improvement worldwide,with remarkable progress in China.Drawing on two sets of data,production yield from the National Bureau of Statistics of China and experimental yield from literature,this study aims to(1)illustrate the increasing patterns of production yield among different provinces from 1978 to 2018 in China,(2)explore the genetic gain in yield and yield relevant traits through the variety replacement based on experimental yield from 1937 to 2016 in China,and(3)compare the yield gap between experimental yield and production yield.The results show that both the production and experimental yields significantly increased along with the variety replacement.The national annual yield increase ratio for the production yield was 1.67%from 1978 to 2018,varying from 0.96%in Sichuan Province to 2.78%in Hebei Province;such ratio for the experimental yield was 1.13%from 1937 to 2016.The yield gap between experimental and production yields decreased from the 1970s to the 2010s.This study reveals significant increases in some yield components consequent to variety replacement,including thousand-grain weight,kernel number per spike,and grain number per square meter;however,no change is shown in spike number per square meter.The biomass and harvest index consistently and significantly increased,whereas the plant height decreased significantly.展开更多
Background Rumen bacterial groups can affect growth performance,such as average daily gain(ADG),feed intake,and efficiency.The study aimed to investigate the inter-relationship of rumen bacterial composition,rumen fer...Background Rumen bacterial groups can affect growth performance,such as average daily gain(ADG),feed intake,and efficiency.The study aimed to investigate the inter-relationship of rumen bacterial composition,rumen fermentation indicators,serum indicators,and growth performance of Holstein heifer calves with different ADG.Twelve calves were chosen from a trail with 60 calves and divided into higher ADG(HADG,high pre-and post-weaning ADG,n=6)and lower ADG(LADG,low pre-and post-weaning ADG,n=6)groups to investigate differences in bacterial composition and functions and host phenotype.Results During the preweaning period,the relative abundances of propionate producers,including g_norank_f_Butyricicoccaceae,g_Pyramidobacter,and g_norank_f_norank_o_Clostridia_vadin BB60_group,were higher in HADG calves(LDA>2,P<0.05).Enrichment of these bacteria resulted in increased levels of propionate,a gluconeogenic precursor,in preweaning HADG calves(adjusted P<0.05),which consequently raised serum glucose concentrations(adjusted P<0.05).In contrast,the relative abundances of rumen bacteria in post-weaning HADG calves did not exert this effect.Moreover,no significant differences were observed in rumen fermentation parameters and serum indices between the two groups.Conclusions The findings of this study revealed that the preweaning period is the window of opportunity for rumen bacteria to regulate the ADG of calves.展开更多

An important challenge is the need of voltage control to maintain the terminal voltage of a wind plant to make it a PV bus like conventional generators with excitation control. In the previous work for controlling wind plant, especially the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) system, the proportional-integral (PI) controllers are popularly applied. These approaches usually need to tune the PI controllers to obtain control gains as a tradeoff or compromise among various operating conditions. In this paper, a new voltage control approach based on a different philosophy is presented. In the proposed approach, the PI control gains for the DFIG system are dynamically adjusted based on the dynamic, continuous sensitivity which essentially indicates the dynamic relationship between the change of control gains and the desired output voltage. Hence, this control approach does not require any good estimation of fixed control gains because it has the self-learning mechanism via the dynamic sensitivity. This also gives the plug-and-play feature of DFIG controllers to make it promising in utility practices. Simulation results verify that the proposed approach performs as expected under various operating conditions.展开更多

We call this filter velocity measured α-β (VM-α-β) filter. We first derive the stability condition and steady-state predicted errors as fundamental properties of the VM-α-β filter. The optimal gains for representative motion models are then derived from the Kalman filter equations. Theoretical and numerical analyses verify that VM-α-β filters with these optimal gains realize more accurate tracking than conventional α-β filters when the filter gains are relatively large. Our study reveals the conditions under which the predicted errors of the VM-α-β filters are less than those of conventional α-β filters. Moreover, numerical simulations clarify that the variance of the tracking error of the VM-α-β filters is approximately 3/4 of that of the conventional α-β filters in realistic situations, even when the accuracy of the position/velocity measurements is the same.展开更多

In this study,it is proposed that the diffusion least mean square(LMS)algorithm can be improved by applying the fractional order signal processing methodologies.Application of Caputo’s fractional derivatives are cons...In this study,it is proposed that the diffusion least mean square(LMS)algorithm can be improved by applying the fractional order signal processing methodologies.Application of Caputo’s fractional derivatives are considered in the optimization of cost function.It is suggested to derive a fractional order variant of the diffusion LMS algorithm.The applicability is tested for the estimation of channel parameters in a distributed environment consisting of randomly distributed sensors communicating through wireless medium.The topology of the network is selected such that a smaller number of nodes are informed.In the network,a random sleep strategy is followed to conserve the transmission power at the nodes.The proposed fractional ordermodified diffusionLMS algorithms are applied in the two configurations of combine-then-adapt and adapt-then-combine.The average squared error performance of the proposed algorithms along with its traditional counterparts are evaluated for the estimation of the Rayleigh channel parameters.Amathematical proof of convergence is provided showing that the addition of the nonlinear term resulting from fractional derivatives helps adjusts the autocorrelation matrix in such a way that the spread of its eigenvalues decreases.This increases the convergence as well as the steady state response even for the larger step sizes.Experimental results are shown for different number of nodes and fractional orders.The simulation results establish that the accuracy of the proposed scheme is far better than its classical counterparts,therefore,helps better solves the channel gains estimation problem in a distributed wireless environment.The algorithm has the potential to be applied in other applications related to learning and adaptation.展开更多

With the expanding enrollments in higher education,the quality of col-lege education and the learning gains of students have attracted much attention.It is important to study the influencing factors and mechanisms of ...With the expanding enrollments in higher education,the quality of col-lege education and the learning gains of students have attracted much attention.It is important to study the influencing factors and mechanisms of individual stu-dents’acquisition of learning gains to improve the quality of talent cultivation in colleges.However,in the context of information security,the original data of learning situation surveys in various universities involve the security of educa-tional evaluation data and daily privacy of teachers and students.To protect the original data,data feature mining and correlation analyses were performed at the model level.This study selected 12,181 pieces of data from X University,which participated in the Chinese College Student Survey(CCSS)from 2018 to 2021.A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted and a structural equation modeling was conducted using AMOS 24.0.Through hypothesis testing,this study explored the mechanisms that influence learning gains from the per-spectives of student involvement,teacher involvement,and school support.The results indicated that the quality of student involvement has an important mediat-ing effect on learning gains and that a supportive campus environment has the greatest influence on learning gains.Establishing positive emotional communica-tions between teachers and students is a more direct and effective method than improving the teaching level to improve the quality of student involvement.This study discusses the implications of these results on the research and practice of connotative development in higher education.展开更多

Three hundred and sixty lsa Brown hens in five replicat...The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of high digestible essential amino acids (DEAA) on weight gains and carcass compositions of laying hens. Three hundred and sixty lsa Brown hens in five replications per treatment (12 birds/replicate) were used. Six experimental diets which contained of treatment 1 (negative control) as the conventional layer diet are recommended by NRC (1994) while another dietary treatments; treatments 2 (positive control), 3, 4, 5 and 6 were formulated to meet 100%, 110%, 120%, 130% and 140% of Standard Ileal Digestible Lysine Levels (SIDLL) without crude protein minimum, while methionine (Met), threonine (Thre) and tryptophan (Tryp) as related by Ideal Protein Concept (IPC) which suggested by NRC (1994) and INRA (2004). However, metabolizable energy (ME), calcium and available phosphorus (Avai P) levels of all experimental diets were meet requirement as recommended by NRC (1994). The experiment was assigned in CRD and laying hens fed dietary treatments from 28 to 44 weeks of age and cage was the experimental unit (3 hens/cage). The result shown that percentages of thigh (TP), feet (FP), drumstick (DP), heart (HP), liver (LP) and gizzard (GP) were not affected by dietary treatment. However, weight gains (WG) and percentage of dressed weight (DWP), eviscerate weight (EWP) and breast (BP) were increased (P 〈 0.05) and abdominal fat was reduced (P 〈 0.05) when birds fad diets containing 130% of SIDLL as compared with control group and another dietary treatments, when increasing the DEAA levels upper to 130% of SIDLL. The result indicated that diets formulated without crude protein minimum and increased DEAA resulted in increasing the efficiency of converting metabolizable energy (ME) to net energy (NE) for increasing weight gain and improved meat products while fat deposition in carcass composition was reduced.展开更多

The present results indicate that for ultra-violet frequency conversion, the problem of stimulated Raman scattering for ADP crystal will not be more serious than that for KDP crystal. Considering other advantages such the larger nonlinear optical coefficient, higher laser damage threshold, and lower noncritical phase-matching temperature, it can be anticipated that ADP will be a powerful competitor to KDP in large aperture, high energy third-harmonic generation or fourth-harmonic generation applications.

文摘The replacement of winter wheat varieties has contributed significantly to yield improvement worldwide,with remarkable progress in China.Drawing on two sets of data,production yield from the National Bureau of Statistics of China and experimental yield from literature,this study aims to(1)illustrate the increasing patterns of production yield among different provinces from 1978 to 2018 in China,(2)explore the genetic gain in yield and yield relevant traits through the variety replacement based on experimental yield from 1937 to 2016 in China,and(3)compare the yield gap between experimental yield and production yield.The results show that both the production and experimental yields significantly increased along with the variety replacement.The national annual yield increase ratio for the production yield was 1.67%from 1978 to 2018,varying from 0.96%in Sichuan Province to 2.78%in Hebei Province;such ratio for the experimental yield was 1.13%from 1937 to 2016.The yield gap between experimental and production yields decreased from the 1970s to the 2010s.This study reveals significant increases in some yield components consequent to variety replacement,including thousand-grain weight,kernel number per spike,and grain number per square meter;however,no change is shown in spike number per square meter.The biomass and harvest index consistently and significantly increased,whereas the plant height decreased significantly.

文摘Background Rumen bacterial groups can affect growth performance,such as average daily gain(ADG),feed intake,and efficiency.The study aimed to investigate the inter-relationship of rumen bacterial composition,rumen fermentation indicators,serum indicators,and growth performance of Holstein heifer calves with different ADG.Twelve calves were chosen from a trail with 60 calves and divided into higher ADG(HADG,high pre-and post-weaning ADG,n=6)and lower ADG(LADG,low pre-and post-weaning ADG,n=6)groups to investigate differences in bacterial composition and functions and host phenotype.Results During the preweaning period,the relative abundances of propionate producers,including g_norank_f_Butyricicoccaceae,g_Pyramidobacter,and g_norank_f_norank_o_Clostridia_vadin BB60_group,were higher in HADG calves(LDA>2,P<0.05).Enrichment of these bacteria resulted in increased levels of propionate,a gluconeogenic precursor,in preweaning HADG calves(adjusted P<0.05),which consequently raised serum glucose concentrations(adjusted P<0.05).In contrast,the relative abundances of rumen bacteria in post-weaning HADG calves did not exert this effect.Moreover,no significant differences were observed in rumen fermentation parameters and serum indices between the two groups.Conclusions The findings of this study revealed that the preweaning period is the window of opportunity for rumen bacteria to regulate the ADG of calves.
文摘The increasing penetration of wind power presents many technical challenges to power system operations. An important challenge is the need of voltage control to maintain the terminal voltage of a wind plant to make it a PV bus like conventional generators with excitation control. In the previous work for controlling wind plant, especially the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) system, the proportional-integral (PI) controllers are popularly applied. These approaches usually need to tune the PI controllers to obtain control gains as a tradeoff or compromise among various operating conditions. In this paper, a new voltage control approach based on a different philosophy is presented. In the proposed approach, the PI control gains for the DFIG system are dynamically adjusted based on the dynamic, continuous sensitivity which essentially indicates the dynamic relationship between the change of control gains and the desired output voltage. Hence, this control approach does not require any good estimation of fixed control gains because it has the self-learning mechanism via the dynamic sensitivity. This also gives the plug-and-play feature of DFIG controllers to make it promising in utility practices. Simulation results verify that the proposed approach performs as expected under various operating conditions.

文摘The four electrodes in the stripline beam position monitor(BPM) for Hefei Light Source(HLS II) storage ring are of axially symmetric type. We have derived a new calibration method of electrode gains for this type stripline BPM. The gain fit error of different data grids was analyzed, and the ±5 mm by ±5 mm grid is the best.The electrode gains of two stripline BPMs(HLS II SR-BD-STLB1 and HLS II SR-BD-STLB2) were obtained based on offline calibrated data. The results show that data after fitting gains are improved, with the electrode gains being between 0.94 and 1.15.
文摘This paper clarifies the steady-state properties and performance of an α-β filter for moving target tracking using both position and velocity measurements. We call this filter velocity measured α-β (VM-α-β) filter. We first derive the stability condition and steady-state predicted errors as fundamental properties of the VM-α-β filter. The optimal gains for representative motion models are then derived from the Kalman filter equations. Theoretical and numerical analyses verify that VM-α-β filters with these optimal gains realize more accurate tracking than conventional α-β filters when the filter gains are relatively large. Our study reveals the conditions under which the predicted errors of the VM-α-β filters are less than those of conventional α-β filters. Moreover, numerical simulations clarify that the variance of the tracking error of the VM-α-β filters is approximately 3/4 of that of the conventional α-β filters in realistic situations, even when the accuracy of the position/velocity measurements is the same.

文摘Under global production network,export cannot represent a country's gains from trade,and territory-based gains from trade refer to the remainder of export after deducting the input of intermediate goods and re-export after value-added return.Ownership-based gains from trade refer to the remainder of territory-based gains from trade after further deducting the trade in value added(TVA) realized through the inflow of foreign factors.By creating a multicountry input and output model,this paper calculates the territory-based gains from trade,ownership-based gains from trade,and territory-based gains from trade for foreign countries realized through China's export,as well as valueadded return and territory-based gains from trade for foreign countries realized through China's import.This paper has arrived at the following conclusions:behind China's status as the largest goods exporting country in the world,most of Chinese exports contribute to the gains of foreign countries;value addition for foreign countries realized through China's export and value-added return realized through China's import mostly come from Taiwan region,Japan and South Korea in East Asia;a considerable part of gains from trade for the United States realized through China-US trade is achieved through indirect trade.

文摘In this study,it is proposed that the diffusion least mean square(LMS)algorithm can be improved by applying the fractional order signal processing methodologies.Application of Caputo’s fractional derivatives are considered in the optimization of cost function.It is suggested to derive a fractional order variant of the diffusion LMS algorithm.The applicability is tested for the estimation of channel parameters in a distributed environment consisting of randomly distributed sensors communicating through wireless medium.The topology of the network is selected such that a smaller number of nodes are informed.In the network,a random sleep strategy is followed to conserve the transmission power at the nodes.The proposed fractional ordermodified diffusionLMS algorithms are applied in the two configurations of combine-then-adapt and adapt-then-combine.The average squared error performance of the proposed algorithms along with its traditional counterparts are evaluated for the estimation of the Rayleigh channel parameters.Amathematical proof of convergence is provided showing that the addition of the nonlinear term resulting from fractional derivatives helps adjusts the autocorrelation matrix in such a way that the spread of its eigenvalues decreases.This increases the convergence as well as the steady state response even for the larger step sizes.Experimental results are shown for different number of nodes and fractional orders.The simulation results establish that the accuracy of the proposed scheme is far better than its classical counterparts,therefore,helps better solves the channel gains estimation problem in a distributed wireless environment.The algorithm has the potential to be applied in other applications related to learning and adaptation.

文摘With the expanding enrollments in higher education,the quality of col-lege education and the learning gains of students have attracted much attention.It is important to study the influencing factors and mechanisms of individual stu-dents’acquisition of learning gains to improve the quality of talent cultivation in colleges.However,in the context of information security,the original data of learning situation surveys in various universities involve the security of educa-tional evaluation data and daily privacy of teachers and students.To protect the original data,data feature mining and correlation analyses were performed at the model level.This study selected 12,181 pieces of data from X University,which participated in the Chinese College Student Survey(CCSS)from 2018 to 2021.A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted and a structural equation modeling was conducted using AMOS 24.0.Through hypothesis testing,this study explored the mechanisms that influence learning gains from the per-spectives of student involvement,teacher involvement,and school support.The results indicated that the quality of student involvement has an important mediat-ing effect on learning gains and that a supportive campus environment has the greatest influence on learning gains.Establishing positive emotional communica-tions between teachers and students is a more direct and effective method than improving the teaching level to improve the quality of student involvement.This study discusses the implications of these results on the research and practice of connotative development in higher education.
文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of high digestible essential amino acids (DEAA) on weight gains and carcass compositions of laying hens. Three hundred and sixty lsa Brown hens in five replications per treatment (12 birds/replicate) were used. Six experimental diets which contained of treatment 1 (negative control) as the conventional layer diet are recommended by NRC (1994) while another dietary treatments; treatments 2 (positive control), 3, 4, 5 and 6 were formulated to meet 100%, 110%, 120%, 130% and 140% of Standard Ileal Digestible Lysine Levels (SIDLL) without crude protein minimum, while methionine (Met), threonine (Thre) and tryptophan (Tryp) as related by Ideal Protein Concept (IPC) which suggested by NRC (1994) and INRA (2004). However, metabolizable energy (ME), calcium and available phosphorus (Avai P) levels of all experimental diets were meet requirement as recommended by NRC (1994). The experiment was assigned in CRD and laying hens fed dietary treatments from 28 to 44 weeks of age and cage was the experimental unit (3 hens/cage). The result shown that percentages of thigh (TP), feet (FP), drumstick (DP), heart (HP), liver (LP) and gizzard (GP) were not affected by dietary treatment. However, weight gains (WG) and percentage of dressed weight (DWP), eviscerate weight (EWP) and breast (BP) were increased (P 〈 0.05) and abdominal fat was reduced (P 〈 0.05) when birds fad diets containing 130% of SIDLL as compared with control group and another dietary treatments, when increasing the DEAA levels upper to 130% of SIDLL. The result indicated that diets formulated without crude protein minimum and increased DEAA resulted in increasing the efficiency of converting metabolizable energy (ME) to net energy (NE) for increasing weight gain and improved meat products while fat deposition in carcass composition was reduced.
