A new method of estimating the frequency-known signals from the strong background noise was presented first. Then the new method was used in the demodulation of the digital frequency modulation (FSK) signals. The new demodulation method can complete the demodulation of the FSK signals only with the carrier frequency and without any carrier phase information. The simulation results show that the performance of anti-noise of the new method is better than that of the incoherent demodulation method and the fluctuation of the carrier phase has little effect on the new method. So the new demodulation method has a fine prospect in the practical applications. 展开更多

The results show that the mixing micro-channel acts as a low-pass filter, and the biochemical signals are nonlinearly modulated by the pulsatile flows, which depend on the biochemical signal frequency, the flow signal frequency, and the biochemical signal transporting distance. It is concluded that, the transfer characteristics of the dynamic biochemical signals, which are transported in the time-varying flows, should be carefully considered for better loading biochemical signals on the cells cultured on the bottom of the microfluidic channel. 展开更多

Conventional parameter estimation methods for pseudo-random binary code-linear frequency modulation(PRBC-LFM)signals require prior knowledge,are computationally complex,and exhibit poor performance at low signal-to-noise ratios(SNRs).To overcome these problems,a blind parameter estimation method based on a Duffing oscillator array is proposed.A new relationship formula among the state of the Duffing oscillator,the pseudo-random sequence of the PRBC-LFM signal,and the frequency difference between the PRBC-LFM signal and the periodic driving force signal of the Duffing oscillator is derived,providing the theoretical basis for blind parameter estimation.Methods based on amplitude method,short-time Fourier transform method,and power spectrum entropy method are used to binarize the output of the Duffing oscillator array,and their performance is compared.The pseudo-random sequence is estimated using Duffing oscillator array synchronization,and the carrier frequency parameters are obtained by the relational expressions and characteristics of the difference frequency.Simulation results show that this blind estimation method overcomes limitations in prior knowledge and maintains good parameter estimation performance up to an SNR of-35 dB. 展开更多

In view of the complexity of existing linear frequency modulation(LFM)signal parameter estimation methods and the poor antinoise performance and estimation accuracy under a low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),a parameter estimation method for LFM signals with a Duffing oscillator based on frequency periodicity is proposed in this paper.This method utilizes the characteristic that the output signal of the Duffing oscillator excited by the LFM signal changes periodically with frequency,and the modulation period of the LFM signal is estimated by autocorrelation processing of the output signal of the Duffing oscillator.On this basis,the corresponding relationship between the reference frequency of the frequencyaligned Duffing oscillator and the frequency range of the LFM signal is analyzed by the periodic power spectrum method,and the frequency information of the LFM signal is determined.Simulation results show that this method can achieve high-accuracy parameter estimation for LFM signals at an SNR of-25 dB. 展开更多

By adding frequency modulated signals to the intensity equation of gain noise model of the single-mode laser driven by two coloured noises which are correlated, this paper uses the linear approximation method to calculate the power spectrum and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the laser intensity. The results show that the SNR appears typical stochastic resonance with the variation of intensity of the pump noise and quantum noise. As the amplitude of a modulated signal has effects on the SNR, it shows suppression, monotone increasing, stochastic resonance, and multiple stochastic resonance with the variation of the frequency of a carrier signal and modulated signal. 展开更多

In this paper, a novel transform termed as Discrete Sinusoidal Frequency Modulation transform(DSFMT) is proposed. Then, the DSFMT of SNCK signal is deduced and classified into three types, based on which, the time-bandwidth product is estimated by the proposed algorithm. To generate high-frequency radio frequency(RF) vector signals, a vector signal generation method by optical frequency sextupling using a dual-parallel modulator is proposed. The method modulates vector signal on +3 rd order optical sideband and local oscillator(LO) signal on-3 rd order sideband using the intermodulation process in the DPMZM. After suppressing of the optical carrier and other sidebands through proper adjustment for modulator biases and modulation index, a frequency sextupled millimeter-wave vector signal can be generated after photodetection. The frequency sextupling will lower the bandwidth of the modulator, the local oscillator and the driving circuits. In addition, the phase of generated signal is not distorted after detection, and the power fading after fiber transmission can be avoided. In the simulation, a 500-MSym/s QPSK signal at 60 GHz is generated by 10-GHz drive signal. After travelling over fiber with length of 20/30/40-km, receiver power penalty keeps below 2.5 dB. 展开更多

Based on the advantage of phase coded signal and stepped frequency signal,a new hybrid modulation signal is introduced in this paper. It combines phase code modulation during the pulse with stepped frequency modulation between the pulses, which is named as phase-coded stepped-frequency ( PCSF ) signal. By analyzing its waveform and ambiguity function,the comparison between Stepped-Frequency ( SF) signal and PCSF signal is given,which shows that the PCSF signal is better than SF signal. Finally,the signal processing method with two stage compressed processing is presented. The simulation results show that this new hybrid modulation radar signal can get a higher stepped frequency than ordinary SF signal,realize the same equivalent bandwidth with less pulse number,and solve the conflict among the stepped frequency,the number of pulse, and transmit average power. Under the premises of a certain range resolution,this new hybrid modulation radar signal not only raises the data rate of radar system,but also reduces Doppler sensitivity with a good prospect, and the effect of one-dimensional range profile is much better than that of traditional SF signal. Further, noninteger searching method for the signal constellation parameters design is proposed in order to get better codes. Experimental results show that under the different Doppler spread and data transmission rate, the proposed design performs better than the previous design using integer parameters in Multiple Input Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system over frequency-selective fading channels. 展开更多

A theoretical analysis leading to the operating conditions to achieve frequency 16-tupling is developed. Different modulation indices (MIs) can be implemented to achieve the frequency multiplication by adjusting the delay of tunable optical delay line (TODL). It is confirmed by simulation that the proposed scheme is effective, and the radio frequency spurious suppression ratio (RFSSR) of the generated frequency 16-tupling signal can be as high as 40 dB when the sub-MZMs have extinction ratios of 30 dB. Influencing factors such as extinction ratio, DC bias drift, phase shift deviation and RF voltage deviation on the performance of optical sideband suppression ratio (OSSR) and RFSSR are also investigated. </div> 展开更多

The Radon-ambiguity transform (RAT), although efficient for detecting the linear frequency modulated signals (LFMs), is troubled by the energy accumulation of noise in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A secondorder difference (SOD) method is proposed to treat with this problem. In the SOD method, the optimal search step and difference step are derived from the LFM rate resolution formula. The sharpness of the peaks of RAT is measured by curvature, and the sharpness, but not the magnitude of the peaks, is used to detect the LFMs. The SOD method removes the noise energy accumulation and reserves the drastically changing components integrally; thus, it improves the detection probability of LFMs in low SNR. The expected performance of the new method is verified by 100 Monte Carlo simulations. 展开更多

The instantaneous frequency (IF) estimation of the linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals with time-varying amplitude using the peak of the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) is studied. Theoretical analysis shows that the estimation on LFM signals with time-varying amplitude is unbiased, only if WVD of time-varying amplitude reaches its maximum at frequency zero no matter in which time. The statistical performance in the case of additive white Guassian noise is evaluated and an analytical expression for the variance is provided. The simulations using LFM signals with Gaussian envelope testify that IF can be estimated accurately using the peak of WVD for four models of amplitude variation. Furthermore the statistical result of estimation on the signals with amplitude descending before rising is better than that of the signals with constant amplitude when the amplitude variation rate is moderate. 展开更多

Broadband optical frequency comb(OFC)generation based on a single electro-absorption modulator(EAM)is proposed.The EAM is driven by a radio frequency(RF)multi-frequency signal generated by a multiplication coupler composed of an electrical power splitter and an arithmetic circuit.Thus the number of comb-lines of the generated OFC can be increased.A complete theoretical model of OFC generation by an EAM driven by nth power of the RF source is established,and the performance of the OFC is analyzed by using OptiSystem software.The results show that,the number of comb-lines of the OFC is positively correlated with the number of multiplication of the RF source signal.The frequency spacing of the comb-lines is twice the frequency of the RF source signal and is tunable by adjusting the frequency of the RF source signal.Increasing chirp factor and modulation index of EAM could increase the number of comb-lines of the generated OFC.The amplitude of the RF source signal had little impact on the fatness of the OFC and the average OFC power.The scheme developed is not only simple and low-cost,but also can produce a large number of comb-lines. 展开更多

In this paper,parameter estimation of linear frequency modulation(LFM)signals containing additive white Gaussian noise is studied.Because the center frequency estimation of an LFM signal is affected by the error propagation effect,resulting in a higher signal to noise ratio(SNR)threshold,a parameter estimation method for LFM signals based on time reversal is proposed.The proposed method avoids SNR loss in the process of estimating the frequency,thus reducing the SNR threshold.The simulation results show that the threshold is reduced by 5 dB compared with the discrete polynomial transform(DPT)method,and the root-mean-square error(RMSE)of the proposed estimator is close to the Cramer-Rao lower bound(CRLB). 展开更多

Radio frequency fingerprinting(RFF)is a technology that identifies the specific emitter of a received electromagnetic signal by external measurement of the minuscule hardware-level,device-specific imperfections.The RFF-related information is mainly in the form of unintentional modulation(UIM),which is subtle enough to be effectively imperceptible and is submerged in the intentional modulation(IM).It is necessary to minimize the influence of the IM and expand the slight differences between emitters for successful RFF.This paper proposes a UIM microstructure enlargement(UMME)method based on feature-level adaptive signal decomposition(ASD),accompanied by autocorrelation and cross-correlation analysis.The common IM part is evaluated by analyzing a newly-defined benchmark feature.Three different indexes are used to quantify the similarity,distance,and dependency of the RFF features from different devices.Experiments are conducted based on the real-world signals transmitted from 20 of the same type of radar in the same working mode.The visual image qualitatively shows the magnification of feature differences;different indicators quantitatively describe the changes in features.Compared with the original RFF feature,recognition results based on the Gaussian mixture model(GMM)classifier further validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

This paper investigates the generalized Parseval’s theorem of fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) for concentrated data. Also, in the framework of multiple FRFT domains, Parseval’s theorem reduces to an inequality with lower and upper bounds associated with FRFT parameters, named as generalized Parseval’s theorem by us. These results theoretically provide potential valuable applications in filtering, and examples of filtering for LFM signals in FRFT domains are demonstrated to support the derived conclusions. 展开更多
