Based on high-tide shoreline data extracted from 87 Landsat satellite images from 1986 to 2019 as well as using the linear regression rate and performing a Mann-Kendall(M–K)trend test,this study analyzes the linear c...Based on high-tide shoreline data extracted from 87 Landsat satellite images from 1986 to 2019 as well as using the linear regression rate and performing a Mann-Kendall(M–K)trend test,this study analyzes the linear characteristics and nonlinear behavior of the medium-to long-term shoreline evolution of Jinghai Bay,eastern Guangdong Province.In particular,shoreline rotation caused by a shore-normal coastal structure is emphasized.The results show that the overall shoreline evolution over the past 30 years is characterized by erosion on the southwest beach,with an average erosion rate of 3.1 m/a,and significant accretion on the northeast beach,with an average accretion rate of 5.6 m/a.Results of the M–K trend test indicate that significant shoreline changes occurred in early 2006,which can be attributed to shore-normal engineering.Prior to that engineering construction,the shorelines are slightly eroded,where the average erosion rate is 0.7 m/a.However,after shore-normal engineering is performed,the shoreline is characterized by significant erosion(3.2 m/a)on the southwest beach and significant accretion(8.5 m/a)on the northeast beach,thus indicating that the shore-normal engineering at the updrift headland contributes to clockwise shoreline rotation.Further analysis shows that the clockwise shoreline rotation is promoted not only by longshore sediment transport processes from southwest to northeast,but also by cross-shore sediment transport processes.These findings are crucial for beach erosion risk management,coastal disaster zoning,regional sediment budget assessments,and further observations and predictions of beach morphodynamics.展开更多

The crystal of the title compound belongs to monoclinic, space group C2/c, with the crystal cell parameters: a=1.3316(3) nm, b=0.94444(19) nm, c=1.3485(3) nm, β=109.66(3)°, V=1.5970(6) nm 3, Z=6. The title compound possesses a supramolecular structure formed through hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions. The third-order non-linear optical(NLO) properties of the title compound were also investigated. The third-order non-linear absorption coefficient α 2 and refractive index n 2 are 0.85×10 -11 m/W -1 and -1.5×10 -19 m 2/W, respectively. Orwell's text The Road to Wigan Pier, henceforth referred to as RWP, is problematic due to the ambiguity of its status as a literary genre. The text is subversive on many levels, namely on the level of form. In order...Orwell's text The Road to Wigan Pier, henceforth referred to as RWP, is problematic due to the ambiguity of its status as a literary genre. The text is subversive on many levels, namely on the level of form. In order to show some aspects of the author's challenge of the conventional norms and methods of literary writing, a comparison between the writer's original diary of the journey to the industrial North of England, the main site of the coal mines, and the present book could be of great import. This reveals the author's genuine intellectual ability to manipulate and rearrange the events and scenes of the story on the discourse level. The author's manipulation and rearrangement of the story (the journey), events and scenes, clearly reveals his potential literary creativity and imagination. Orwell has deployed many strategies to fulfil this purpose. Each strategy is actually a contribution to the author's overall argument and at the same time it constitutes a further aspect of subversion. The first aspect of subversion lies on the level of form itself. The form of the book is effectively very challenging. Contrary to the conventional view of the fictional novel, the study of Orwell's text based on Grrard Genette's model reveals his challenge of the basic novelistic parameters. The novelistic ingredients such as setting, characterisation, and plot development have been treated in a subverting way. Though not totally discarded, they have been manipulated for the purpose of the author's general argument, which is Socialism. For instance, characters in the novel are treated as types, that is, representatives of their class. Besides, the order of scenes and events has been rearranged for the purpose of foregrounding representative scenes like the description of the Brookers' lodging-house. The author's treatment of the material of the text is primarily based on his personal experience as an outside observer during his journey to the North. Therefore, the exploration of the novel from a structuralist perspective based on Genette's model does not merely aim at the pure application of some literary and critical approaches to Orwell's text. This may be misleading since the investigation may fall in superficiality and simplicity. But the strategy deployed is actually a further contribution to the author's general argument and a manifestation of the novel's status as a creative and subversive text.展开更多

New tools for the analysis of the seismic behaviour of plan-asymmetric structures are herein presented and the concepts of "Polar Spectrum" and limit domains are discussed. In particular, the capacity of the structure is described by using the limit domains based on the Non Linear Static Procedures, while the seismic demand is analysed by introducing a new representation of the spectral response. This representation is based on the construction of a spectral surface obtained by the spectral seismic response for different in-plan directions and the in-plan projection of this surface is herein defined "Polar Spectrum". The obtained results for two benchmark structures, verified by means of non-linear incremental dynamic analyses, have pointed out that non-linear static analyses, carried out for different in-plan directions of the incoming seismic action, have allowed us to accurately evaluate the least seismic resistant directions.展开更多

In the crystal lattice, the molecules create a network structure through hydrogen bonds. First, the linear growth rate of the large scale structures in the mixing layers was calculated. Then, using the much improved weakly non-linear theory, combined with the energy method, the non-linear evolution of large scale structures in two special mixing layer configurations is calculated. One of the mixing lavers has equal magnitudes of the upstream velocity vectors, while the angles between the velocity vectors and the trailing edge were pi /2 - phi and pi /2 + phi, respectively. It is fascinating to realize that even while Hollywood continually comes up with incredible special effects in films such as Avatar (2009), the basic structure and development closely "follows" the guidelines for ...It is fascinating to realize that even while Hollywood continually comes up with incredible special effects in films such as Avatar (2009), the basic structure and development closely "follows" the guidelines for drama and storytelling laid out by Aristotle in his The Poetics, written several thousand years ago. We are specifically speaking of three act (beginning, middle, and ending) structure, focusing more on plot than character, and the need for a final resolution (catharsis). But throughout literary and cinematic history, not everyone has followed these rules. Ironically, we take a close look at the award-winning Greek director Theo Angelopoulos' Ulysse's Gaze (1995) staring Harvey Keitel, as an example of a very non-Aristotelian approach to filmmaking and storytelling. Angelopoulos' film is character rather than plot centered on the Harvey Keitel figure and the journey of the narrative can be broken down to between 8-10 acts, depending how you describe them. We discuss many of the standard American "how to write screenplay book" authors such as Syd Field, while bringing a variety of authors such as Lajos Egri (The Art of Dramatic Writing) who criticize both Aristotle's Poetics and the way it has been interpreted for centuries especially in Hollywood. We conclude that there is a middle ground as well, for while Casablanca (1942) has a clear three act structure, it does not give us a happy romantic "Hollywood" ending/resolution as Rick insists that Lisa leave with her husband.展开更多

C12H8N4O5, Mr = 288.22, V = 1192.6(4) 3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.605 g/cm3 , F(000) = 592, (MoK) = 0.129 mm-1, R = 0.0439, wR = 0.1125 and GOF =1.114. In the crystal lattice, the molecules create a network structure through hydrogen bonds. The second order optical non- linearity was performed by quantum chemical method, showing the title compound has higher molecular hyper polarizability value (?= 24.66×10-30 esu).
文摘The title adduct (C18H24N4O12, Mr = 488.41) crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 4.0514(19), b = 25.193(11), c = 10.751(5) ?, β = 95.070(8)o, V = 1093.0(9) ?3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.484 g/cm3, F(000) = 512, μ(MoKα) = 1.26 cm-1, T = 293 K, the final R = 0.0593 and wR = 0.0862 for 956 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The compound is a 1:1 adduct of ethanolamine and 5-nitrosalicylic acid. The nitrogen atom of ethanolamine is protonated. In this crystal there exist a number of hydrogen bonds which link the ethanolamine and 5-nitrosalicylic acid molecules to form a three-dimensional infinite network structure.

文摘In this paper, several mathematical models for the large scale structures in some special kinds of mixing layers, which might be practically useful for enhancing the mixing, are proposed. First, the linear growth rate of the large scale structures in the mixing layers was calculated. Then, using the much improved weakly non-linear theory, combined with the energy method, the non-linear evolution of large scale structures in two special mixing layer configurations is calculated. One of the mixing lavers has equal magnitudes of the upstream velocity vectors, while the angles between the velocity vectors and the trailing edge were pi /2 - phi and pi /2 + phi, respectively. The other mixing layer was generated by a splitter-plate with a 45-degree-sweep trailing edge.
文摘The crystal structure of the deuterium(hydrogen) L-arginine phosphate monohydrate D(H)LAP has been determined by neutron diffraction technique.[( D2N)2CND (CH2)3CH (ND3)CO2]+·[D2PO4]1-·D2O,Mr=302.3,monoclinic space group P21,Z=2,α=10.843(3),b=7.913(2),c=7.321(2),β=97.99(3)°,V=622.0(3),Dc=1.602 g/cm3.All atoms were located by block diagonal matrix least-squares technique.A final Rf value of 0.048 was obtained for 1040 observed independent reflections.The crystal structure consists of alternate layers of phosphate groups and arginine molecules stacked along the axis a and held together by hydrogen bonds.

文摘It is fascinating to realize that even while Hollywood continually comes up with incredible special effects in films such as Avatar (2009), the basic structure and development closely "follows" the guidelines for drama and storytelling laid out by Aristotle in his The Poetics, written several thousand years ago. We are specifically speaking of three act (beginning, middle, and ending) structure, focusing more on plot than character, and the need for a final resolution (catharsis). But throughout literary and cinematic history, not everyone has followed these rules. Ironically, we take a close look at the award-winning Greek director Theo Angelopoulos' Ulysse's Gaze (1995) staring Harvey Keitel, as an example of a very non-Aristotelian approach to filmmaking and storytelling. Angelopoulos' film is character rather than plot centered on the Harvey Keitel figure and the journey of the narrative can be broken down to between 8-10 acts, depending how you describe them. We discuss many of the standard American "how to write screenplay book" authors such as Syd Field, while bringing a variety of authors such as Lajos Egri (The Art of Dramatic Writing) who criticize both Aristotle's Poetics and the way it has been interpreted for centuries especially in Hollywood. We conclude that there is a middle ground as well, for while Casablanca (1942) has a clear three act structure, it does not give us a happy romantic "Hollywood" ending/resolution as Rick insists that Lisa leave with her husband.

文摘We use a root finder procedure to obtain and an inflaton value due to use of a scale factor if we furthermore use as the variation of the time component of the metric tensor in Pre-Planckian Space-time up to the Planckian space-time initial values. In doing so, we obtain, due to the very restricted values for which are of the order of less than Planck time, results leading to an enormous value for the initial Cosmological constant.
文摘The standard shooting and fitting algorithm for non-linear two-point boundary value problems derives from conventional coordinate perturbation theory. We generalize the algorithm using the renormalized perturbation theory of strained coordinates. This allows for the introduction of an arbitrary function, which may be chosen to improve numerical convergence. An application to a problem in stellar structure exemplifies the algorithm and shows that, when used in conjunction with the standard procedure, it has superior convergence compared to the standard one alone.

文摘Wind energy is considered one of the most promising alternative energy sources against the conventional fossil fuels.However,the deployment of these structures in deep-water for better power production is considered as a complex task.This also has raised the issue regarding selection of appropriate support structures for various sea conditions by considering environmental impact and carbon footprint.This paper considers a jacket like support structure as a case study for an intermediate water depth(50m).The jacket is considered to be located in North of Dutch Sea,and 100-extreme wave is applied as load condition.Here,the presented methodology provides an insight towards environmental/social impact made by the optimized designs in comparison with reference design.
文摘The paper illustrates the postmodern narrative techniques in Jeanette Winterson's Lighthousekeeping mainly from the non-linear structure,meta-narrative strategy and unreliable narration.Non-linear narrative mode is a use of the disorder of the plot and time,which can achieve certain effects conceived by the author;the meta-narrative oversets the traditional novel models and norms,challenges the reliability and authenticity of the story,and demonstrates the illusory nature of the novel;unreliable narration,which performs a function of irony,can provoke thoughts on the content or the themes of the novel.
