A pronounced damping maximum of binary Pd-B alloys at 220K and measuring frequencies of about 4Hz could not be established at a frequency of 15MH. Ternary Pd-B-H alloys show an additional damping maximum besides the hydrogen Zener effect, which is interpreted in terms of a changed jump frequency of hydrogen in the neighborhood of boron atoms.展开更多

In this paper, drilling parameters provide a new basis for determining the constant mi. An analytical relationship between the drilling parameters and constant miis established in consideration of the contact response between the drilling bit and the cut rock in the crushed zone.New models are developed to predict the triaxial compressive strength(TCS), internal friction angle φand cohesion c of rock. Drilling tests are carried out on 6 rock types to study the correlation between φ and m_(i). A comparison between the predicted values of rock mechanical properties and the measured values from the laboratory is performed to verify the accuracy of the proposed model(yielding an error less than 10%). The TCSs and constant m_(i) values of fifteen rocks are cited to validate the accuracy of the proposed model. The result shows that the proposed model predicts the TCS and constant m_(i) within a maximum error of 20%. The method can be conveniently applied to the rock mechanical properties.展开更多

Large deviations have been found between product testing results and theoretical calculations after years of research and testing. The deviations mainly are caused by internal frictions inside the constant spring support hangers. By reducing or properly using internal frictions, consistent results between testing and theoretical calculation have been achieved. Based on product performance testing results recently, constant force performance of hangers has been improved greatly by adopting new methodology.展开更多

The escape rate constant, k^- , was derived based on the simplified equations of DNMR theory, and the apparent activation energy of escape, Ea^- , was obtained based on the Arrhenius equation through temperature variation experiments. Results show that the orders of magnitude of k^- for 14-s-14 and 12-s-12 are respectively 10 and 103 s-1, Ea^- of 14-s-14 and 12-s-12 are respectively 54.04-73.64 and 33.42-47.09 kJ/rnol. Furthermore, k increases and Ea^- decreases with the spacer length growing. In combination with the rnicro-polarity measurements, it was revealed that molecules of 14-s-14 and 12-s-12 have to experience conformation changes when escaping from the rnicelles. The two-step molecular exchange mechanism for Gemini surfactants was therefore supported.展开更多
