Intelligent reflecting surfaces(IRSs)constitute passive devices,which are capable of adjusting the phase shifts of their reflected signals,and hence they are suitable for passive beamforming.In this paper,we conceive ...Intelligent reflecting surfaces(IRSs)constitute passive devices,which are capable of adjusting the phase shifts of their reflected signals,and hence they are suitable for passive beamforming.In this paper,we conceive their design with the active beamforming action of multiple-input multipleoutput(MIMO)systems used at the access points(APs)for improving the beamforming gain,where both the APs and users are equipped with multiple antennas.Firstly,we decouple the optimization problem and design the active beamforming for a given IRS configuration.Then we transform the optimization problem of the IRS-based passive beamforming design into a tractable non-convex quadratically constrained quadratic program(QCQP).For solving the transformed problem,we give an approximate solution based on the technique of widely used semidefinite relaxation(SDR).We also propose a low-complexity iterative solution.We further prove that it can converge to a locally optimal value.Finally,considering the practical scenario of discrete phase shifts at the IRS,we give the quantization design for IRS elements on basis of the two solutions.Our simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed solutions over the relevant benchmarks.展开更多

The proposed method has a graphical explanation which facilitates stability analysis. According to the characteristic of global positioning system(GPS) reflection signals,a GPS delay mapping receiver system scheme is put forward,which not only satisfies the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) guidance loc...According to the characteristic of global positioning system(GPS) reflection signals,a GPS delay mapping receiver system scheme is put forward,which not only satisfies the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) guidance localization but also realizes height measurement.A code delay algorithm is put forward,which processes the direct and land reflected signal and outputs the navigation data and specular point.The GPS terrain reflected echo signal mathematical equation is inferred.The reflecting signal area,when the GPS signal passes the land,is analyzed.The height survey model reflected land surface characteristic is established.A simulation system which carries guidance localization of the UAV and the height measuring control through the GPS direct signal and the land reflected signal is designed,taken the GPS satellite as the illumination source,the receiver is put on the UAV.Then the UAV guidance signal,the GPS reflection signal and receiver's parallel processing are realized.The parallel processing reduces UAV's payload and raises system's operating efficiency.The simulation results confirms the validity of the model and also provides the basis for the UAV's optimization design.展开更多
Coastal defenses such as the breakwaters are important structures to maintain the navigation conditions in a harbor.The estimation of their hydrodynamic characteristics is conventionally done using physical models,sub...Coastal defenses such as the breakwaters are important structures to maintain the navigation conditions in a harbor.The estimation of their hydrodynamic characteristics is conventionally done using physical models,subjecting to higher costs and prolonged procedures.Soft computing methods prove to be useful tools,in cases where the data availability from physical models is limited.The present paper employs adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)and artificial neural network(ANN)models to the data obtained from physical model studies to develop a novel methodology to predict the reflection coefficient(Kr)of seaside perforated semicircular breakwaters under low wave heights,for which no physical model data is available.The prediction was done using the input parameters viz.,incident wave height(Hi),wave period(T),center-to-center spacing of perforations(S),diameter of perforations(D),radius of semicircular caisson(R),water depth(d),and semicircular breakwater structure height(hs).The study shows the prediction below the available data range of wave heights is possible by ANFIS and ANN models.However,the ANFIS performed better with R^2=0.9775 and the error reduced in comparison with the ANN model with R2=0.9751.Study includes conventional data segregation and prediction using ANN and ANFIS.展开更多

[Method] Judging from the characteristics of reflectivity factors, by dint of the new ...[Objective] The aim was to summarize the characteristics of refelectivity factors of Doppler radar of the cold front cloud system. [Method] Judging from the characteristics of reflectivity factors, by dint of the new generation weather radar in Harbin from 2002 to 2007, the features of the reflectivity factors of the cold front cloud system were summarized. [Result] The cloud formed by the cold front was in banded form in general. However, there was void in the cloud and its intensity was uneven. Most fast moving cold front was long and narrow banded echo and basically the radial velocity turned from northwest wind to southwest. With the changes of month, the feature of the reflective rate also changed. In winter, the cold front cloud was in layer form. The feature of the reflectivity factors was weak and in large area. However, the structure was loose and there was space in the echo. Among them, there were several strong echoes. Strong convection cell echo formed in the two sides of the cold front, and it moved with the entire cloud belt. When the dry cold front moved, regional strong convective current formed, mainly by convective cloud and small echo area. Generally, the changes of the wind direction can not be expounded from the radial velocity. However, the intensity of the convection cell was distinct, 'three-body scattering', 'side lobe echo', and 'weak echo', as well as features of super convection cell. [Conclusion] The study provided positive role for the application of Doppler radar in the surveillance of weather in Heilongjiang Province.展开更多
