The lifetimes of these clusters are calculated according to their Lindemann index δ (t) using the criteria of δ≥0.07. For both the filled and empty clusters, we find the dynamics of bulk water determines the lifetimes of cage-like water clusters, and that the lifetime of 512 62 cage-like cluster is the same as that of 512 cage-like cluster. Although the methane molecule indeed makes the filled cage-like cluster more stable than the empty one, the empty cage-like cluster still has chance to be long-lived compared with the filled clusters. These observations support the labile cluster hypothesis on the formation mechanisms of gas hydrates.展开更多

The Yingshan Formation intraplatform shoal between the main strike-slip faults is superimposed with low-order faults to form a new type of hydrocarbon play. Firstly, hydrocarbons generated from the Lower Cambrian Yuertusi Formation source rocks vertically migrated into the second member of Yingshan Formation through the main strike-slip faults, and then migrated laterally until they were accumulated. A small amount of oil from Well FD1 came from the Yuertusi Formation source rocks in the mature stage, and a large amount of gas originated from oil cracking in the ultra-deep reservoirs. Therefore, the secondary gas condensate reservoir in Well FD1 is characterized by high gas to oil ratio, dry gas (dryness coefficient being 0.970) and hybrid origin. This new type of hydrocarbon play characterized by intraplatform shoal and low-order fault suggests a prospect of continuous hydrocarbon-bearing area in Fuman Oilfield, which will expand the ultrap-deep oil and gas exploration in the oilfield.展开更多

In the present study, a novel liquid film sensor is applied to measure the distributed signals of the liquid film in three-phase flow. Based on the liquid film signals, the liquid film characteristics including the structural characteristics and the nonlinear dynamics characteristics in three-phase flows are investigated for the first time. The structural characteristics including the proportion, the appearance frequency and the thickness of the liquid film are obtained and the influences of the liquid and gas superficial velocities and the oil content on them are investigated. To investigate the nonlinear dynamics characteristics of the liquid film with the changing flow conditions, the entropy analysis is introduced to successfully uncover and quantify the dynamic complexity of the liquid film behavior.展开更多

The Montney Formation resource play is one of Canada’s prime unconventional hydrocarbon reservoir, with reserve estimate in British Columbia (Natural Gas reserve = 271 TCF), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG = 12,647 million barrels), and oil reserve (29 million barrels). Based on sedimentological and ichnological criteria, five lithofacies associations were identified in the study interval: Lithofacies F-1 (organic rich, wavy to parallel laminated, black colored siltstone);Lithofacies F-2 (very fine-grained sandstone interbedded with siltstone);Lithofacies F-3A (bioturbated silty-sandstone attributed to the Skolithos ichnofacies);Lithofacies F-3B (bioturbated siltstone attributed to Cruziana ichnofacies);Lithofacies F-4 (dolomitic, very fine-grained sandstone);and Lithofacies F-5 (massive siltstone). The depositional environments interpreted for the Montney Formation in the study area are lower shoreface through proximal offshore to distal offshore settings. Rock-Eval data (hydrogen Index and Oxygen Index) shows that Montney sediments contains mostly gas prone Type III/IV with subordinate Type II kerogen, TOC ranges from 0.39 - 3.54 wt% with a rare spike of 10.9 wt% TOC along the Montney/Doig boundary. Vitrinite reflectance data and Tmax show that thermal maturity of the Montney Formation is in the realm of “peak gas” generation window. Despite the economic significance of the Montney unconventional “resource-play”, however, the location and predictability of the best reservoir interval remain conjectural in part because the lithologic variability of the optimum reservoir lithologies has not been adequately characterized. This study presents lithofacies and ichnofacies analyses of the Montney Formation coupled with Rock-Eval geochemistry to interpret the sedimentology, ichnology, and reservoir potential of the Montney Formation tight gas reservoir in Fort St. John study area (T86N, R23W and T74N, R13W), northeastern British Columbia, western Canada.展开更多

The shales in the Doushantuo Formation feature considerable thickness (135 m), high gas content (4.83 m^3/t) and high fragile mineral content (up to 75%). Due to the influences of the sedimentary environment, the shale reservoirs here have high dolomitic content (54%) and abruptly changes in vertical lithofacies. Moreover, the characteristics of the shale sweet-spot differ significantly from that in the Wufeng Formation and Longmaxi Formation in southeast Sichuan Basin. A high-resolution sequence stratigraphic correlation was performed on the shales of the Doushantuo Formation at the Eyangye-1 well, Zidi-1 well, Zidi-2 well and some outcrop profiles in Yichang area for the identification of their sedimentary microfacies characteristics. A comprehensive comparative analysis was made by incorporating the elemental geochemistry, wireline and mud logging data of the well to further identify the sweet-spot interval therein. With the analysis of Eyangye-1 well, the sweet-spot interval of the Doushantuo Formation is 3360?3408 m, of which sedimentary microfacies is deepwater reduced environment with many pyrite laminaes, and the TOC is high to 3.42%, the Ro is 3.3%, the organic and matrix pore are well developed and the aperture more than 50 nm, the porosity is 2.7%, the desorption gas content average is 2.16%, and the main mineral is dolomitic (54%) and siliceous quartz (21%). Additionally, these parameters combined with previous studies will shed light on evaluating and characterizing the layers therein, also provide referential geological data for the following exploration and development activities of this shale system.展开更多

文摘Based on the practice of oil and gas exploration in the Huizhou Sag of the Pearl River Mouth Basin, the geochemical indexes of source rocks were measured, the reservoir development morphology was restored, the rocks and minerals were characterized microscopically, the measured trap sealing indexes were compared, the biomarker compounds of crude oil were extracted, the genesis of condensate gas was identified, and the reservoir-forming conditions were examined. On this basis, the Paleogene Enping Formation in the Huizhou 26 subsag was systematically analyzed for the potential of oil and gas resources, the development characteristics of large-scale high-quality conglomerate reservoirs, the trapping effectiveness of faults, the hydrocarbon migration and accumulation model, and the formation conditions and exploration targets of large-and medium-sized glutenite-rich oil and gas fields. The research results were obtained in four aspects.First, the Paleogene Wenchang Formation in the Huizhou 26 subsag develops extensive and thick high-quality source rocks of semi-deep to deep lacustrine subfacies, which have typical hydrocarbon expulsion characteristics of"great oil generation in the early stage and huge gas expulsion in the late stage",providing a sufficient material basis for hydrocarbon accumulation in the Enping Formation.Second, under the joint control of the steep slope zone and transition zone of the fault within the sag,the large-scale near-source glutenite reservoirs are highly heterogeneous, with the development scale dominated hierarchically by three factors(favorable facies zone, particle component, and microfracture). The(subaqueous)distributary channels near the fault system, with equal grains,a low mud content(<5%),and a high content of feldspar composition, are conducive to the development of sweet spot reservoirs.Third, the strike-slip pressurization trap covered by stable lake flooding mudstone is a necessary condition for oil and gas preservation, and the NE and nearly EW faults obliquely to the principal stress have the best control on traps.Fourth, the spatiotemporal configuration of high-quality source rocks, fault transport/sealing,and glutenite reservoirs controls the degree of hydrocarbon enrichment. From top to bottom, three hydrocarbon accumulation units,i.e.low-fill zone, transition zone, and high-fill zone, are recognized. The main area of the channel in the nearly pressurized source-connecting fault zone is favorable for large-scale hydrocarbon enrichment. The research results suggest a new direction for the exploration of large-scale glutenite-rich reservoirs in the Enping Formation of the Pearl River Mouth Basin, and present a major breakthrough in oil and gas exploration.

文摘The Daqing exploration area in the northern Songliao Basin has great potential for unconventional oil and gas resources, among which the total resources of tight oil alone exceed 109 t and is regarded as an important resource base of Daqing oilfield. After years of exploration in the Qijia area,Songliao Basin,NE China, tight oil has been found in the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation. To work out tight oil’s geological characteristics, taking tight oil in Gaotaizi oil layers of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in northern Songliao Basin as an example, this paper systematically analyzed the geological characteristics of unconventional tight oil in Gao3 and Gao4 layers of the Qijia area, based on the data of the geological survey, well drilling journey, well logging, and test.It is that three sets of hydrocarbon source rocks(K2qn1,K2qn2+3,and K2n1)develop in the examined area, and exhibit excellent type I and II kerogens, high organic matter abundance, and moderate maturity. The reservoir is generally composed of thin-bedded mudstone, siltstone, and sandstone, and presents poor porosity(average 8.5 vol.%)and air permeability(average 4 mD).The main reservoir space primarily includes intergranular pores, secondary soluble pores, and intergranular soluble pores.Three types of orifice throats were identified, namely fine throat,extra-fine throat, and micro-fine throat. The siltstone is generally oil-bearing,the reservoirs with slime and calcium become worse oil-bearing,and the mudstone has no obvious oil-bearing characteristics. The brittleness indices of the sandstone in the tight oil reservoir range from 40%to 60%,and those of the mudstone range from 40%to 45%,indicating a better brittleness of the tight oil reservoir.Based on the study of typical core hole data, this paper gives a comprehensive evaluation of the properties of the tight oil and establishes a tight oil single well composite bar chart as well as the initial evaluation system with the core of properties in the tight oil reservoir. This study has theoretical guiding significance and practical application value for tight oil exploration and evaluation in the Qijia area.

文摘Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to observe the evolutions of 512 and 51262 cage-like water clusters filled with or without a methane molecule immersed in bulk liquid water at 250 K and 230 K. These observations support the labile cluster hypothesis on the formation mechanisms of gas hydrates.

文摘The Qiangtang Basin of the Tibetan Plateau, located in the eastern Tethys tectonic domain,is the largest new marine petroliferous region for exploration in China. The scientific drilling project consisting primarily of well QK-1 and its supporting shallow boreholes for geological surveys(also referred to as the Project)completed in recent years contributes to a series of new discoveries and insights into the oil and gas preservation conditions and source rock evaluation of the Qiangtang Basin. These findings differ from previous views that the Qiangtang Basin has poor oil and gas preservation conditions and lacks high-quality source rocks. As revealed by well QK-1 and its supporting shallow boreholes in the Project, the Qiangtang Basin hosts two sets of high-quality regional seals, namely an anhydrite layer in the Quemo Co Formation and the gypsum-bearing mudstones in the Xiali Formation. Moreover, the Qiangtang Basin has favorable oil and gas preservation conditions,as verified by the comprehensive study of the sealing capacity of seals, basin structure, tectonic uplift, magmatic activity, and groundwater motion.Furthermore, the shallow boreholes have also revealed that the Qiangtang Basin has high-quality hydrocarbon source rocks in the Upper Triassic Bagong Formation, which are thick and widely distributed according to the geological and geophysical data.In addition, the petroleum geological conditions, such as the type, abundance, and thermal evolution of organic matter, indicate that the Qiangtang Basin has great hydrocarbon-generating potential.

文摘To understand the reservoir property and hydrocarbon accumulation conditions of the Middle and Upper Ordovician intraplatform shoal between ultra-deep main strike-slip faults in Fuman Oilfield of the Tarim Basin, China, the main strike-slip faults in and around well FD1 in the basin were analyzed in terms of sedimentary facies, sequence stratigraphy, intraplatform shoal reservoir property, and oil and gas origins, based on drilling data. This new type of hydrocarbon play characterized by intraplatform shoal and low-order fault suggests a prospect of continuous hydrocarbon-bearing area in Fuman Oilfield, which will expand the ultrap-deep oil and gas exploration in the oilfield.

文摘Unconventional oil and gas resources require petrophysical logs to answer the question of how best to optimize geological and engineering‘sweet spots'.Therefore, the establishment of a key well with comprehensive descriptions of lithology, reservoir properties,hydrocarbon-bearing properties, electronic well log responses, source rock properties, brittleness, and in situ stress magnitude and direction is important for the effective exploration and production of unconventional hydrocarbon resources.Cores, thin sections, scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and comprehensive well log suites are used to build a key well for the Permian Lucaogou Formation,Jimusar Sag of the Junggar Basin. The results show that there are three main types of lithologies, including siltstone, mudstone and dolostone.Lithologies can be predicted using the combination of conventional well and image logs. The pore spaces consist of interparticle pores, intragranular dissolution pores and micropores.Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR)T_(2)components longer than 1.7 ms are superposed as effective porosity.Permeability is calculated using the Coates model from NMR T_(2)spectra.The ratio of T_(2)components>7.0 ms to T_(2)components>0.3 ms is used to calculate oil saturation.TOC is calculated using theΔlog R method.Brittleness index is calculated using Poisson-Young's method, ranging from 13.42%-70.53%.In situ stress direction is determined, and in situ stress magnitudes(maximum horizontal stress SH_(max),minimum horizontal stress Sh_(min),vertical stress S_(v))are calculated using density and sonic logs. The strike-slip stress type(SH_(max)>S_(v)>Sh_(min))is encountered. The key well which comprehensively includes the above seven properties is established.Geological and engineering(geomechanical)‘sweet spots'are then optimized from the key well by fully analyzing lithology, reservoir property, oilbearing potential,in situ stress magnitude and brittleness. It is hoped that the results support engineers'and geologists'decisions for the future exploitation of unconventional hydrocarbon resources.

文摘The study of liquid film characteristics in multiphase flow is a very important research topic, however, the characteristics of the liquid film around Taylor bubble structure in gas, oil and water three-phase flow are not clear. To investigate the nonlinear dynamics characteristics of the liquid film with the changing flow conditions, the entropy analysis is introduced to successfully uncover and quantify the dynamic complexity of the liquid film behavior.

文摘The mechanical properties of Portland cement differ from the weakly consolidated shallow formation in deep water. This results in undesired abrupt changes in the compressive strength and elastic modulus at the cement–formation interface. In this study,a water-borne epoxy resin was applied as a strengthening material to reinforce the weakly consolidated shallow formation and protect the cement sheath from potential failure. The mechanical properties of the unconsolidated clay were tested, including their changes with increases in the temperature and curing time.In addition, the effects of the seawater, cement slurry alkaline filtrate, and saltwater drilling fluid were evaluated. As confirmed by the results, the strengthening fluid was excellent at reinforcing the unconsolidated clay, with a compressive strength of 2.49 MPa(after curing for 7 days),even at a dosage of 5%.A cement slurry filtrate with a high pH was suitable to produce the required strengthening of the formation, especially its early age strength. It should also be pointed out that the used fluid exhibited good compatibility with the saltwater drilling fluid and seawater behaved well as a diluent for the strengthening fluid.

文摘In 2022,the risk exploration well Chongtan1(CT1)in the Sichuan Basin revealed commercial oil and gas flow during test in a new zone–the marl of the second submember of the third member of Leikoupo Formation(Lei-32)of Middle Triassic, recording a significant discovery. However, the hydrocarbon accumulation in marl remains unclear, which restricts the selection and deployment of exploration area.Focusing on Well CT1,the hydrocarbon accumulation characteristics of Lei-32 marl are analyzed to clarify the potential zones for exploration. The following findings are obtained.First, according to the geochemical analysis of petroleum and source rocks, oil and gas in the Lei-32 marl of Well CT1 are originated from the same marl. The marl acts as both source rock and reservoir rock.Second, the Lei-32 marl in central Sichuan Basin is of lagoonal facies, with a thickness of 40–130 m,an area of about 40000 km^(2),a hydrocarbon generation intensity of(4–12)×10^(8) m^(3)/km^(2),and an estimated quantity of generated hydrocarbons of 25×10^(12) m^(3).Third,the lagoonal marl reservoirs are widely distributed in central Sichuan Basin.Typically,in Xichong–Yilong,Ziyang–Jianyang and Moxi South, the reservoirs are 20–60 m thick and cover an area of 7500 km^(2).Fourth,hydrocarbons in the lagoonal marl are generated and stored in the Lei-32 marl, which means that marl serves as both source rock and reservoir rock. They represent a new type of unconventional resource, which is worthy of exploring.Fifth, based on the interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data from central Sichuan Basin,Xichong and Suining are defined as favorable prospects with estimated resources of(2000–3000)×10^(8) m^(3).

文摘In order to evaluate the geological characteristics and gas-bearing factors of Niutitang Formation within the Lower Cambrian of northern Guizhou, the Huangping area located at the southern edge of the ancient uplift belt of Xuefeng Mountain was selected as the target area, and Well Huangdi 1 was drilled for the geological survey of shale gas.Through geological background analysis and well logging and laboratory analysis such as organic geochemical test, gas content analysis, isothermal adsorption, and specific surface area experiments on Well Huangdi 1,the results show that the Niutitang Formation is a deep-water shelf,trough-like folds and thrust fault. The thickness of black shale is 119.95 m,of which carbonaceous shale is 89.6 m.The average value of organic carbon content is 3.55%,kerogen vitrinite reflectance value is 2.37% and kerogen type is sapropel-type.The brittle mineral content is 51%(quartz 38%),clay mineral content is 38.3%.The value of porosity and permeability are 0.5%and 0.0014 mD,which the reservoir of the Niutitang Formation belongs to low permeability with characteristics of ultra-low porosity. The gas content is 0.09‒1.31 m^3/t with a high-value area and a second high-value area.By comparing with the geological parameters of adjacent wells in the adjacent area, the accumulation model of“sediment control zone,Ro control zone, structure controlling reservoir”in the study area is proposed.Therefore,deep-water shelf-slope facies,Ro is between high maturity-early stage of overmaturity and well-preserved zones in the Niutitang Formation in this area are favorable direction for the next step of shale gas exploration.

文摘Based on analysis of pore features and pore skeleton composition of shale,a“rigid elastic chimeric”pore skeleton model of shale gas reservoir was built.Pore deformation mechanisms leading to increase of shale porosity due to the pore skeleton deformation under overpressure were sorted out through analysis of stress on the shale pore and skeleton. After reviewing the difficulties and defects of existent porosity measurement methods,a dynamic deformed porosity measurement method was worked out and used to measure the porosity of overpressure Silurian Longmaxi Formation shale under real formation conditions in southern Sichuan Basin. The results show:(1)The shale reservoir is a mixture of inorganic rock particles and organic matter, which contains inorganic pores supported by rigid skeleton particles and organic pores supported by elastic-plastic particles, and thus has a special“rigid elastic chimeric”pore structure.(2)Under the action of formation overpressure, the inorganic pores have tiny changes that can be assumed that they don’t change in porosity, while the organic pores may have large deformation due to skeleton compression, leading to the increase of radius, connectivity and ultimately porosity of these pores.(3)The“dynamic”deformation porosity measurement method combining high injection pressure helium porosity measurement and kerosene porosity measurement method under ultra-high variable pressure can accurately measure porosity of unconnected micro-pores under normal pressure conditions, and also the porosity increment caused by plastic skeleton compression deformation.(4)The pore deformation mechanism of shale may result in the"abnormal"phenomenon that the shale under formation conditions has higher porosity than that under normal pressure,so the overpressure shale reservoir is not necessarily“ultra-low in porosity”,and can have porosity over 10%.Application of this method in Well L210 in southern Sichuan has confirmed its practicality and reliability.

文摘The relationships between permeability and dynamics in hydrocarbon accumulation determine oilbearing potential(the potential oil charge) of low permeability reservoirs. The evolution of porosity and permeability of low permeability turbidite reservoirs of the middle part of the third member of the Shahejie Formation in the Dongying Sag has been investigated by detailed core descriptions, thin section analyses, fluid inclusion analyses, carbon and oxygen isotope analyses, mercury injection, porosity and permeability testing, and basin modeling. The cutoff values for the permeability of the reservoirs in the accumulation period were calculated after detailing the accumulation dynamics and reservoir pore structures, then the distribution pattern of the oil-bearing potential of reservoirs controlled by the matching relationship between dynamics and permeability during the accumulation period were summarized. On the basis of the observed diagenetic features and with regard to the paragenetic sequences, the reservoirs can be subdivided into four types of diagenetic fades. The reservoirs experienced two periods of hydrocarbon accumulation. In the early accumulation period, the reservoirs except for diagenetic fades A had middle to high permeability ranging from 10 × 10^(-3) μm^2 to4207 × 10^(-3) μm^2.In the later accumulation period, the reservoirs except for diagenetic fades C had low permeability ranging from 0.015 × 10^(-3)~ μm^2 to 62 × 10^(-3) μm^2.In the early accumulation period, the fluid pressure increased by the hydrocarbon generation was 1.4-11.3 MPa with an average value of 5.1 MPa.and a surplus pressure of1.8-12.6 MPa with an average value of 6.3 MPa.In the later accumulation period, the fluid pressure increased by the hydrocarbon generation process was 0.7-12.7 MPa with an average value of 5.36 MPa and a surplus pressure of1.3-16.2 MPa with an average value of 6.5 MPa.Even though different types of reservoirs exist, all can form hydrocarbon accumulations in the early accumulation period.Such types of reservoirs can form hydrocarbon accumulation with high accumulation dynamics:however, reservoirs with diagenetic facies A and diagenetic fades B do not develop accumulation conditions with low accumulation dynamics in the late accumulation period for very low permeability. At more than 3000 m burial depth,a larger proportion of turbidite reservoirs are oil charged due to the proximity to the source rock. Also at these depths, lenticular sand bodies can accumulate hydrocarbons. At shallower depths, only the reservoirs with oil-source fault development can accumulate hydrocarbons. For flat surfaces, hydrocarbons have always been accumulated in the reservoirs around the oil-source faults and areas near the center of subsags with high accumulation dynamics.
文摘Several decades of conventional oil and gas production in Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) have resulted in maturity of the basin, and attention is shifting to alternative hydrocarbon reservoir system, such as tight gas reservoir of the Montney Formation, which consists of siltstone with subordinate interlaminated very fine-grained sandstone. John study area (T86N, R23W and T74N, R13W), northeastern British Columbia, western Canada.

文摘In this work, the authors monitored the formation and dissociation process of methane hydrate in four different rock core samples through nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)relaxation time(T_(2))and 2D imaging measurement. The result shows that the intensity of T_(2) spectra and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)signals gradually decreases in the hydrate formation process, and at the same time, the T_(2) spectra move toward the left domain as the growth of hydrate in the pores of the sample accelerates the decay rate. The hydrate grows and dissociates preferentially in the purer sandstone samples with larger pore size and higher porosity.Significantly, for the sample with lower porosity and higher argillaceous content, the intensity of the T_(2) spectra also shows a trend of a great decrease in the hydrate formation process, which means that high-saturation gas hydrate can also be formed in the sample with higher argillaceous content. The changes in MRI of the sample in the process show that the formation and dissociation of methane hydrate can reshape the distribution of water in the pores.
文摘The Sinian Doushantuo Formation is the oldest shale gas reservoir discovered in the world, which contains good shale gas shows as the Eyangye-1 and Zidi-1 wells in the Yichang Region of western Hubei province, China. Additionally, these parameters combined with previous studies will shed light on evaluating and characterizing the layers therein, also provide referential geological data for the following exploration and development activities of this shale system.
文摘The overseas oil and gas investment evaluation is one of the core tasks in overseas investment of oil and gas companies, among which risk evaluation and benefit evaluation are the most important. This paper sets forth transmission paths of risk factors to the investment benefit by identifying 14 overseas oil and gas investment risks in four categories. On the basis of the concept of risk compensation, different compensation mechanisms specific to each risk are designed. The risk and benefit are integrated objectively to develop a comprehensive evaluation model by correcting the recoverable reserve, adjusting benefit evaluation parameters such as investments on exploration and development, and compensating for the changes in risk factors with time through dynamic discount rate. Moreover, two cases studies, namely the evaluations of Project A in Sudan and comparison among Blocks A–G,are used to describe usage method and applicable scope of such evaluation model, respectively.According to the results, oil price is a key influencing factor for enterprise internal risk and industrial risk.Risk compensation reduces comprehensive benefit of overseas oil and gas investment and undermines the investment feasibility and priority of blocks. The research findings of this paper are free from the effects of some subject factors and avoid multi-objective decision making, and also avoid the undesired repeated calculation of risk factors.
