The objectives of this work were to study post-operative complications in the general surgery department of the Cs ref of commune I in Mali, to determine the frequency of post-operative complications, to identify the factors of occurrence, to describe the clinical aspects, diagnostic and therapeutic in order to assess the additional cost linked to post-operative complications. This study was prospective, carried out in the general surgery department on 300 cases of surgical interventions. It covered all patients aged at least 15 years, operated on and hospitalized or not, and who presented complications during the 30 days postoperatively. Patients under the age of 15 were not included (our general surgery department is not a pediatric surgery department). We collected 300 patients among whom 199 (66.33%) were men and 101 (33.66%) women, i.e. a sex ratio = 1.9. The average age was 38 years with extremes of 15 and 87 years. The main initial diagnoses were: acute appendicitis, peritonitis, occlusions, wall hernias, hemorrhoids, uterine prolapse, uterine myomas, ovarian cysts and acute cholecystitis. Emergencies represented 43% (N = 129) of interventions with 6.98% post-operative complications (POC). Postoperative complications were dominated by surgical site infections, 75% of cases (N = 20), wall hemorrhage 5% (N = 1), testicular necrosis 5% (N = 1) and testicular calcification 5% (N = 1), wire rejection 5% (N = 1) and death 5% (N = 1). The management of postoperative complications was surgical in 95% and medical in 100%. Their occurrence extended the hospital stay by 3.65 days and increased the average cost of care by 60541.85 CFA francs. The mortality index lowered by efficient management of complications (IMAGE) calculated in relation to deaths was 95% of cases. Anemia, ASA score ≥ III, Alteimeir II and IV classes, duration of surgery and post-operative hospitalization were factors contributing to post-operative complications.展开更多
To date,little attention has been paid to the effects of organophosphate esters(OPEs)pollution on aquacultural environment and aquatic product safety.Huanghe(Yellow)River delta area is one of the largest aquaculture c...To date,little attention has been paid to the effects of organophosphate esters(OPEs)pollution on aquacultural environment and aquatic product safety.Huanghe(Yellow)River delta area is one of the largest aquaculture centers in China,where ecological security protection is crucial in the national strategy of China.To explore the pollution characteristics,bioaccumulation,and health risks of OPEs in aquaculture farms in the Huanghe River delta and natural water bodies in the adjacent seas,five species of organisms from different farm types nearby the Huanghe River delta,and the corresponding culture water and sediments were sampled in this study.The total concentrations of Σ_(13)OPEs in water,sediments,and organisms were 51.53-272.18 ng/L,52.63-63.17 ng/g dry weight(dw),and 46.82-108.90 ng/g dw,respectively.Among the five types of culture ponds,the water samples from the swimming crab and hairy crab culture ponds exhibited higher OPEs,the concentration of OPEs in the sediments from the few ponds was relatively balanced,and the OPEs in the organism from the holothurian ponds was higher.Tris(1,3-dichloro-2-isopropyl pho sphate)(TDCP)was the main contaminant in water samples and tripropyl phosphate(TPrP)in sediments and organisms.However,trisphenyl phosphate(TPhP)showed the strongest bioaccumulation ability,followed by 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate(EHDPP)and TPrP.The bioaccumulation capacities of the five species were as follows:prawn>holothurian>hairy crab>swimming crab>carp.These five types of organisms,as main seafood in human consumption,were at low risk of negative impacts of pollution.However,the risk from the mixture of organophosphate flame retardants(OPFRs)still requires more attention due to the increasing consumption and production in the world.展开更多
AIM:To investigate the effect of diazoxide administration on liver ischemia/reperfusion injury.METHODS:Wistar male rats underwent partial liver ischemia performed by clamping the pedicle from the medium and left anter...AIM:To investigate the effect of diazoxide administration on liver ischemia/reperfusion injury.METHODS:Wistar male rats underwent partial liver ischemia performed by clamping the pedicle from the medium and left anterior lateral segments for 1 h under mechanical ventilation.They were divided into 3 groups:Control Group,rats submitted to liver manipulation,Saline Group,rats received saline,and Diazoxide Group,rats received intravenous injection diazoxide(3.5 mg/kg) 15 min before liver reperfusion.4 h and 24 h after reperfusion,blood was collected for determination of aspartate transaminase(AST),alanine transaminase(ALT),tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-10(IL-10),nitrite/nitrate,creatinine and tumor growth factor-β1(TGF-β1).Liver tissues were assembled for mitochondrial oxidation and phosphorylation,malondialdehyde(MDA) content,and histologic analysis.Pulmonary vascular permeability and myeloperoxidase(MPO) were also determined.RESULTS:Four hours after reperfusion the diazoxide group presented with significant reduction of AST(2009 ± 257 U/L vs 3523 ± 424 U/L,P = 0.005); ALT(1794 ± 295 U/L vs 3316 ± 413 U/L,P = 0.005); TNF-α(17 ± 9 pg/mL vs 152 ± 43 pg/mL,P = 0.013; IL-6(62 ± 18 pg/mL vs 281 ± 92 pg/mL); IL-10(40 ± 9 pg/mL vs 78 ± 10 pg/mL P = 0.03),and nitrite/nitrate(3.8 ± 0.9 μmol/L vs 10.2 ± 2.4 μmol/L,P = 0.025) when compared to the saline group.A significant reduction in liver mitochondrial dysfunction was observed in the diazoxide group compared to the saline group(P < 0.05).No differences in liver MDA content,serum creatinine,pulmonary vascular permeability and MPO activity were observed between groups.Twenty four hours after reperfusion the diazoxide group showed a reduction of AST(495 ± 78 U/L vs 978 ± 192 U/L,P = 0.032); ALT(335 ± 59 U/L vs 742 ± 182 U/L,P = 0.048),and TGF-β1(11 ± 1 ng/mL vs 17 ± 0.5 ng/mL,P = 0.004) serum levels when compared to the saline group.The control group did not present alterations when compared to the diazoxide and saline groups.CONCLUSION:Diazoxide maintains liver mitochondrial function,increases liver tolerance to ischemia/reperfusion injury,and reduces the systemic inflammatory response.These effects require further evaluation for using in a clinical setting.展开更多
To our knowledge,no single study has systemically compared cryopreservation efficiencies of bovine blastocysts derived from in vitro fertilization （IVF）,intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） and somatic cell nuc...To our knowledge,no single study has systemically compared cryopreservation efficiencies of bovine blastocysts derived from in vitro fertilization （IVF）,intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） and somatic cell nuclear transfer （SCNT） by controlled freezing and vitrification.This experiment,therefore,was designed to compare the cryopreservation of these blastocysts with controlled freezing and OPS vitrification.Adenosine-5’-triphosphate （ATP） content and reactive oxygen species （ROS） level in blastocysts were also analyzed.Firstly,for each type of blastocyst （IVF,ICSI or SCNT）,significant differences were observed between the survival rates of the controlled freezing （（81.56±2.33）,（68.18±4.72） or （47.89±5.83）%） and OPS vitrification groups （（92.24±4.54）,（82.40±3.76） or （78.71±5.91）%;P〈0.05）.Secondly,for each type of blastocyst （IVF,ICSI or SCNT）,ATP content was significantly decreased after controlled freezing or vitrification,and the ATP content in the controlled freezing group （0.43±0.06）,（0.35±0.05） or （0.21±0.02） pmol） was significantly lower than that found in the OPS vitrification group （0.62±0.04）,（0.46±0.03） or （0.30±0.01） pmol;P〈0.05）.Thirdly,ROS level in fresh IVF （（47.33±3.56） c.p.s （counted photons per second）,ICSI （（36.51±2.58） c.p.s） or SCNT blastocysts （（26.44±1.49） c.p.s） was significantly lower than that found in the OPS vitrification group （（72.14±4.31）,（58.89±3.89） or （40.11±5.73） c.p.s;P〈0.05）,but higher than that of the controlled freezing group （34.41±3.32）,（23.13±1.26） or （15.46±2.45） c.p.s;P〈0.05）.The present study indicated that vitrification is more efficient in the cryopreservation of bovine blastocysts derived from IVF,ICSI or SCNT than controlled freezing.Furthermore,both vitrification and controlled freezing significantly altered the ATP content and ROS level in those blastocysts.展开更多
