In this paper the impact factors on the optical fiber LAN network with ring topology are considered. The couple ratio, the self-ring effect, the Multiple-Access Interference (MAI), and the channel noises are the main factors degrading the system performance. We develop a systematic method that employs the smallest p multiplication method to analyze the optimization of the ring network. The results show that choosing an optimal couple ratio and power control will enhance the system performance dramatically. In addition, the “self-ring” interference and MAI can be suppressed by power control to some extent. 展开更多

The bit error probability of the OCDMA system is derived, and the numerical results of the system with and without an ideal optical hard limiter are analyzed respectively. The results show that although the derived expression is different from the one derived by J A Salehi , the numerical results are the same as those analyzed by J A Salehi, and the numerical result can be easily achieved in this expression. 展开更多

A novel architecture of wavelength-division multiplexing/optical code division multiplexing access-passive optical network (WDM/OCDMA-PON) based on superstructure fiber Bragg grating (SSFBG) and wavelength re-modulation technology is proposed. In this scheme, WDM is overlaid on OCDMA channel in a single network by virtue of a kind of SSFBC, and the total capacity of hybrid PON can be extended by regulating the transmission power reasonably. Re, modulation technology is also a good method to save wavelength-specific components at the optical network unit (ONU) and cost of wavelength management on the customer side. In simulation system, 1.25 Gb/s up/downstream data are transported with good performance. In addition the crosstalk penalties from adjacent wavelength channels (with the same OC) are found to be negligible in upstream and downstream transmissions. 展开更多

The application of Golay pulse coding technique in spontaneous Brillouin-based distributed temperature sensor based on self-heterodyne detection of Rayleigh and Brillouin scattering is theoretically and experimentally analyzed. The enhancement of system signal to noise ratio(SNR) and reduction of temperature measurement error provided by coding are characterized. By using 16-bit Golay coding, SNR can be improved by about 2.77 d B, and temperature measurement error of the 100 m heated fiber is reduced from 1.4 °C to 0.5 °C with a spatial resolution of 13 m. The results are believed to be beneficial for the performance improvement of self-heterodyne detection Brillouin optical time domain reflectometer. 展开更多

Compressive sensing(CS) has emerged as a novel sampling framework which enables sparse signal acquisition and reconstruction with fewer measurements below the Nyquist rate.An important issue for CS is the construction of measurement matrix or sensing matrix.A new deterministic sensing matrix,named as OOC-B,is proposed by exploiting optical orthogonal codes(OOCs),Bernoulli matrix and Singer structure,which has the entries of 0,+1 and-1 before normalization.We have proven that the designed deterministic matrix is asymptotically optimal.In addition,the proposed deterministic sensing matrix is applied to direction of arrival(DOA) estimation of narrowband signals by CS arrays(CSA)processing and CS recovery.Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed sensing matrix has good performance for DOA estimation.It is very effective for simplifying hardware structure and decreasing computational complexity in DOA estimation by CSA processing.Besides,lower root mean square error(RMSE) and bias are obtained in DOA estimation by CS recovery. 展开更多

An optical PPM CDMA communication system with an optical hard limiter in front of the correlator of a receiver is proposed in order to reduce multi user interference. The performance of the system is evaluated when the effects of both multi user interference and photo detector shot noise are considered. An upper bound on the bit error rate is derived. The comparison of the performance of the above receiver with that of the optical PPM CDMA system without an optical hard limiter is made. Simulation results show that the performance of the system with an optical hard limiter is superior to that of the conventional one. 展开更多
