A robust optimization model for demand response management with source-grid-load collaboration to consume wind-power

To accommodate wind power as safely as possible and deal with the uncertainties of the output power of winddriven generators,a min-max-min two-stage robust optimization model is presented,considering the unit commitment,source-network load collaboration,and control of the load demand response.After the constraint functions are linearized,the original problem is decomposed into the main problem and subproblem as a matrix using the strong dual method.The minimum-maximum of the original problem was continuously maximized using the iterative method,and the optimal solution was finally obtained.The constraint conditions expressed by the matrix may reduce the calculation time,and the upper and lower boundaries of the original problem may rapidly converge.The results of the example show that the injected nodes of the wind farms in the power grid should be selected appropriately;otherwise,it is easy to cause excessive accommodation of wind power at some nodes,leading to a surge in reserve costs and the load demand response is continuously optimized to reduce the inverse peak regulation characteristics of wind power.Thus,the most economical optimization scheme for the worst scenario of the output power of the generators is obtained,which proves the economy and reliability of the two-stage robust optimization method. 展开更多

Hybrid Power Bank Deployment Model for Energy Supply Coverage Optimization in Industrial Wireless Sensor Network

Energy supply is one of the most critical challenges of wireless sensor networks(WSNs)and industrial wireless sensor networks(IWSNs).While research on coverage optimization problem(COP)centers on the network’s monitoring coverage,this research focuses on the power banks’energy supply coverage.The study of 2-D and 3-D spaces is typical in IWSN,with the realistic environment being more complex with obstacles(i.e.,machines).A 3-D surface is the field of interest(FOI)in this work with the established hybrid power bank deployment model for the energy supply COP optimization of IWSN.The hybrid power bank deployment model is highly adaptive and flexible for new or existing plants already using the IWSN system.The model improves the power supply to a more considerable extent with the least number of power bank deployments.The main innovation in this work is the utilization of a more practical surface model with obstacles and training while improving the convergence speed and quality of the heuristic algorithm.An overall probabilistic coverage rate analysis of every point on the FOI is provided,not limiting the scope to target points or areas.Bresenham’s algorithm is extended from 2-D to 3-D surface to enhance the probabilistic covering model for coverage measurement.A dynamic search strategy(DSS)is proposed to modify the artificial bee colony(ABC)and balance the exploration and exploitation ability for better convergence toward eliminating NP-hard deployment problems.Further,the cellular automata(CA)is utilized to enhance the convergence speed.The case study based on two typical FOI in the IWSN shows that the CA scheme effectively speeds up the optimization process.Comparative experiments are conducted on four benchmark functions to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the ABC and gbest-guided ABC(GABC)algorithms.The results show that the proposed energy coverage optimization method based on the hybrid power bank deployment model generates more accurate results than the results obtained by similar algorithms(i.e.,ABC,GABC).The proposed model is,therefore,effective and efficient for optimization in the IWSN. 展开更多

The objective and constraint functions related to structural optimization designs are classified into economic and performance indexes in this paper.The influences of their different roles in model construction of structural topology optimization are also discussed.Furthermore,two structural topology optimization models,optimizing a performance index under the limitation of an economic index,represented by the minimum compliance with a volume constraint(MCVC)model,and optimizing an economic index under the limitation of a performance index,represented by the minimum weight with a displacement constraint(MWDC)model,are presented.Based on a comparison of numerical example results,the conclusions can be summarized as follows:(1)under the same external loading and displacement performance conditions,the results of the MWDC model are almost equal to those of the MCVC model;(2)the MWDC model overcomes the difficulties and shortcomings of the MCVC model;this makes the MWDC model more feasible in model construction;(3)constructing a model of minimizing an economic index under the limitations of performance indexes is better at meeting the needs of practical engineering problems and completely satisfies safety and economic requirements in mechanical engineering,which have remained unchanged since the early days of mechanical engineering. 展开更多

China has set carbon emission goals for 2030 and 2060.Renewable energy sources,primarily wind and photovoltaic power,are being considered as the future of power generation.The major limitation to the development of new energies is the limited flexibility of regulations on power system resources,resulting in insufficient consumption capacity.Thus,the flexible resource costs for peak shaving as well as the reasonable coordinated development and operation optimization of regional renewable energy need to be considered.In this study,a renewable energy development layout configuration analysis method was established by considering the composite cost of a power system,comprehensively analyzing the potential of various flexibility regulation resources for the power system and its composite peak shaving cost,and combining renewable energy output characteristics,load forecasting,grid development,and other factors.For the optimization of various flexible resource utilization methods,a peak shaving cost estimation method from the perspective of the entire power system was established by combining the on-grid electricity prices and operating costs of different power sources.A collaborative optimization model of power system operation that aims at the lowest peak shaving cost and satisfies the constraints of operation,safety,and environmental protection was proposed.Finally,a certain area of Gansu Province was used as an example to perform detailed analysis and calculation,which demonstrated that the model has an optimal effect.This model can provide an analysis method for regional renewable energy development layout configurations and system optimization operations. 展开更多

Then, it is applied to solve the layout optimization problems against the background of an international commercial communication satellite (INTELSAT-Ⅲ) module. Three improvements are developed, including multi-population search based on pyramid model, adaptive collision avoidance among particles, and mutation of degraded particles. In the numerical examples of the layout design of this simplified satellite module, the performance of PPSO is compared to global version PSO and local version PSO (ring and Neumann PSO). Finding the right balance between timber production and the management of forest-dependent wildlife species,present a difficult challenge for forest resource managers and policy makers in Okinawa,Japan.A possible explanation of this can be found in the unique nature of the forest management area which is populated with various kinds of rare and endangered species.This issue has been brought to light as a result of the nomination of northern Okinawa Island in 2018 as a candidate for World Natural Heritage site.The nomination has raised public awareness to the possibility of conflicting management objectives between timber extraction and the conservation of habitat for forest-dependent wildlife species.Managing exclusively for one objective over the other may fail to meet the demand for both forest products and wildlife habitat,ultimately jeopardizing the stability of human and wildlife communities.It is therefore important to achieve a better balance between the objective of timber production and conservation of wildlife habitat.Despite the significance of this subject area,current ongoing discussions on how to effectively manage for forest resources,often lack scientific basis to make sound judgement or evaluate tradeoffs between conflicting objectives.Quantifying the effect of these forest management activities on wildlife habitat provides useful and important information needed to make forest management and policy decisions.In this study we develop a spatial timber harvest scheduling model that incorporates habitat suitability index(HSI)models for the Okinawa Rail(Gallirallus okinawae),an endangered avian species found on Okinawa,Japan.To illustrate how the proposed coupling model assembles spatial information,which ultimately aids the study of forest management effects on wildlife habitat,we apply these models to a forest area in Okinawa and conduct a simple simulation analysis. 展开更多

As we know,the preheating furnace is a dissipation system to obey conservation of energy law,that is to say that input energy always equals to output energy,in the meantime,the whole energy consuming is not reversible.Therefore increasing the efficiency of using energy is uppermost.In this paper,heating transfer efficiency is analysed and mathematical expression is given based on conservation of energy law.Typical optimal methods to improve preheating furnace transfer efficiency coming from foreign factories are presented.According to these methods,every furnace zone temperatures as control variable,target discharging temperature and temperature difference in slab thickness and the temperature between neighbouring zones as well as zone temporary temperature as restrictions,minimal energy consuming as optimizing target.Baosteel preheating furnace model structure and the complicated mapping relation of control parameter set and state set and aim set are presented.Important basic models in the preheating furnace model system are analysed including temperature tracking model and temperature forecasting model and discharging pacing model and slab heating curve.First slab temperature model structure and its peripheric parameter are introduced;second two pacing models are given including timing pacing mode using fixed discharging interval and mill pacing control mode using mill rolling pacing while Baosteel pacing forecasting model using long term and short term forecasting mode) is given;third a heating curve mathematical model considering heating quality and rolling pace and energy consuming is presented;in the end summary is done and the future way is lighted.Baosteel heating model including slab and billet and steel ingot have been developed,the actual applications show a good effect.The future woks include working procedure saving energy and system saving energy considering " Oder and rule" to achieve system harmony and rhythmization.Baosteel Blooming furnaces scheduling system is very useful for smooth production and saving energy. 展开更多

In power plants,flue gases can cause severe corrosion damage in metallic parts such as flue ducts,heat exchangers,and boilers.Coating is an effective technique to prevent this damage.A robust fuzzy model of the surface roughness(Ra and Rz)of flue gas ducts coated by protective composite coating from epoxy and nanoparticles was constructed based on the experimental dataset.The proposed model consists of four nanoparticles(ZnO,ZrO2,SiO2,and NiO)with 2%,4%,6%,and 8%,respectively.Response surface methodology(RSM)was used to optimize the process parameters and identify the optimal conditions for minimum surface roughness of this coated duct.To prove the superiority of the proposed fuzzy model,the model results were compared with those obtained by ANOVA,with the coefficient of determination and the root-mean-square error(RMSE)used as metrics.For Ra,for the first output response,using ANOVA,the coefficient-of-determination values were 0.9137 and 0.4037,respectively,for training and prediction.Similarly,for Rz,the second output response,the coefficient-of-determination results were 0.9695 and 0.4037,respectively,for training and prediction.In the fuzzy modeling of Ra,for the first output response,the RMSE values were 0.0 and 0.1455,respectively,for training and testing.The values for the coefficient of determination were 1.00 and 0.9807,respectively,for training and testing.The results prove the superiority of fuzzy modeling.For modeling the second output response Rz,the RMSE values were 0.0 and 0.0421,respectively,for training and testing,and the coefficient-of-determination values were 1.00 and 0.9959,respectively,for training and testing. 展开更多

In this paper, t he various scheduling problems in ground support operation of an aircraft mainte nance service company are addressed. The authors developed a set of vehicle rout ings to cover each schedule flights; the objectives pursued are the maximization of vehicle and manpower utilization and minimization of operation time. To obta in the goals, an integer-programming model with genetic algorithm is formulated . It is found that the company can produce an effective and efficient schedules to deploy the manpower and equipment resources. Simulation is used to verify the method and a MATLAB program is used to code the genetic algorithm. This model i s further illustrated by a case study in Hong Kong and the benefit elaborated. Taking the rubber torsion bushing of a certain type of all-terrain tracked vehicle as the research object,a theoretical model of torsional stiffness was proposed according to the non-linear characteristics of rubber components and structural feature of the suspension. Simulations were carried out under different working conditions to obtain root mean square of vertical weighted acceleration as the evaluation index for ride performance of the all-terrain tracked vehicle,with a dynamics model of the whole vehicle based on the theoretical model of the torsional stiffness and standard road roughness as excitation input. Response surface method was used to establish the parametric optimization model of the torsional stiffness. The evaluation index showed that ride performance of the vehicle with optimized torsional stiffness model of suspension was improved compared with previous model fromexperiment. The torsional stiffness model of rubber bushing provided a theoretical basis for the design of the rubber torsion bushing in light tracked vehicles. 展开更多

To reduce the comprehensive costs of the construction and operation of microgrids and to minimize the power fluctuations caused by randomness and intermittency in distributed generation,a double-layer optimizing configuration method of hybrid energy storage microgrid based on improved grey wolf optimization(IGWO)is proposed.Firstly,building a microgrid system containing a wind-solar power station and electric-hydrogen coupling hybrid energy storage system.Secondly,the minimum comprehensive cost of the construction and operation of the microgrid is taken as the outer objective function,and the minimum peak-to-valley of the microgrid’s daily output is taken as the inner objective function.By iterating through the outer and inner layers,the system improves operational stability while achieving economic configuration.Then,using the energy-self-smoothness of the microgrid as the evaluation index,a double-layer optimizing configuration method of the microgrid is constructed.Finally,to improve the disadvantages of grey wolf optimization(GWO),such as slow convergence in the later period and easy falling into local optima,by introducing the convergence factor nonlinear adjustment strategy and Cauchy mutation operator,an IGWO with excellent global performance is proposed.After testing with the typical test functions,the superiority of IGWO is verified.Next,using IGWO to solve the double-layer model.The case analysis shows that compared to GWO and particle swarm optimization(PSO),the IGWO reduced the comprehensive cost by 15.6%and 18.8%,respectively.Therefore,the proposed double-layer optimizationmethod of capacity configuration ofmicrogrid with wind-solar-hybrid energy storage based on IGWO could effectively improve the independence and stability of the microgrid and significantly reduce the comprehensive cost. 展开更多

In order to ensure the effective analysis and reconstruction of forests,it is key to ensure the quantitative description of their spatial structure.In this paper,a distance model for the optimal stand spatial structure based on weighted Voronoi diagrams is proposed.In particular,we provide a novel methodological model for the comprehensive evaluation of the spatial structure of forest stands in natural mixed conifer-broadleaved forests and the formulation of management decision plans.The applicability of the rank evaluation and the optimal solution distance model are compared and assessed for different standard sample plots of natural mixed conifer-broadleaved forests.The effect of crown width on the spatial structure unit of the trees is observed to be higher than that of the diameter at breast height.Moreover,the influence of crown length is greater than that of tree height.There are nine possible spatial structure units determined by the weighted Voronoi diagram for the number of neighboring trees in the central tree,with an average intersection of neighboring crowns reaching 80%.The rank rating of natural forest sample plots is correlated with the optimal solution distance model,and their results are generally consistent for natural forests.However,the rank rating is not able to provide a quantitative assessment.The optimal solution distance model is observed to be more comprehensive than traditional methods for the evaluation of the spatial structure of forest stands.It can effectively reflect the trends in realistic stand spatial structure factors close to or far from the ideal structure point,and accurately assesses the forest spatial structure.The proposed optimal solution distance model improves the integrated evaluation of the spatial structure of forest stands and provides solid theoretical and technical support for sustainable forest management. 展开更多

The combination of the Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)and digital twin(DT)technology makes it possible for the DT model to realize the dynamic perception of equipment status and performance.However,conventional digital modeling is weak in the fusion and adjustment ability between virtual and real information.The performance prediction based on experience greatly reduces the inclusiveness and accuracy of the model.In this paper,a DT-IIoT optimization model is proposed to improve the real-time representation and prediction ability of the key equipment state.Firstly,a global real-time feedback and the dynamic adjustment mechanism is established by combining DT-IIoT with algorithm optimization.Secondly,a strong screening dual-model optimization(SSDO)prediction method based on Stacking integration and fusion is proposed in the dynamic regulation mechanism.Lightweight screening and multi-round optimization are used to improve the prediction accuracy of the evolution model.Finally,tak-ing the boiler performance of a power plant in Shanxi as an example,the accurate representation and evolution prediction of boiler steam quantity is realized.The results show that the real-time state representation and life cycle performance prediction of large key equipment is optimized through these methods.The self-lifting ability of the Stacking integration and fusion-based SSDO prediction method is 15.85%on average,and the optimal self-lifting ability is 18.16%.The optimization model reduces the MSE loss from the initial 0.318 to the optimal 0.1074,and increases R2 from the initial 0.731 to the optimal 0.9092.The adaptability and reliability of the model are comprehensively improved,and better prediction and analysis results are achieved.This ensures the stable operation of core equipment,and is of great significance to comprehensively understanding the equipment status and performance. 展开更多
