A gamma distribution is used to model the material degradation. The degrading decrement after the imperfect maintenance action is assumed as a random variable normal distribution. This model aims to ob- tain the optimal maintenance policy and spare ordering point with the expected cost rate within system lifecycle as the optimization objective. The rationality and feasibility of the model are proved through a numerical example.展开更多

By using thisprogram, the aerodynamic force is calculated and the sails are designed for an aircraftwith rectangular wing of 8.6 aspect ratio. The calculation results show that thosewing-tip sails, whose total area is 3. 1 percent of the aircraft’s basic wing area, will haveremarkable effect on reducing induced drag, and the lift-dependent drag factor can bereduced by about 18.5 to 21 .5 percent. Wind tunnel tests are conducted in NH-2 windtunnel of Nanjing Aeronautical and Astronautical University, and the results demon-strate the correctness of the above calculation results. The influences of sail parameterson performance and handling qualities of aircraft are also analyzed.展开更多

It is also a challenging problem to find an appropriate trade-off among resource utilization, energy consumption and Quality of Service(QoS) requirements under the changing environment and diverse tasks. Considering both processing time and transmission time, a PSO-based Adaptive Multi-objective Task Scheduling(AMTS) Strategy is proposed in this paper. First, the task scheduling problem is formulated. Then, a task scheduling policy is advanced to get the optimal resource utilization, task completion time, average cost and average energy consumption. In order to maintain the particle diversity, the adaptive acceleration coefficient is adopted. Experimental results show that the improved PSO algorithm can obtain quasi-optimal solutions for the cloud task scheduling problem.展开更多

This method employs a simultaneous model and includes two design steps. In the first step, the water allocation network (WAN), which could achieve the targets of saving water and energy, is obtained by taking account the temperature factor into the design procedure. The optimized targets of both freshwater and energy are reached at this step which ensures this approach is a simultaneous one. In the second step, based on the obtained WAN, the whole water allocation and heat exchange network (WAHEN) is combined with the non-isothermal mixing to reduce the number of heat exchangers. The thus obtained WAHEN can achieve three optimization targets (minimization of water, energy and the number of heat exchangers). Furthermore, the effectivity of our method has been demonstrated by solving two literature examples.展开更多

However, the growing concern for environmental protection, economic efficiency, and sus- tainability of urban wastewater systems requires an integrated modeling of subsystems and a synthetic evaluation of multiple objectives. In this study, a multi- objective optimization model of an integrated urban wastewater system was developed. The model encom- passes subsystems, such as a sewer system, stormwater management, municipal wastewater treatment, and a wastewater reclamation system. The non-dominated sort- ing genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) was used to generate a range of system design possibilities to optimize conflicting environmental and economic objectives. Information from a knowledge base, which included rules for generating treatment trains as well as the performance characteristics of commonly used water pollution control measures, was utilized. The trade-off relationships between the objec- tives, total water pollution loads to the environment, and life cycle costs (which consist of investment as well as operation and maintenance costs), can be illustrated using Pareto charts. The developed model can be used to assist decision makers in the preliminary planning of system structure. A benchmark city was constructed to illustrate the methods of multi-objective controls, highlight cost- effective water pollution control measures, and identify the main pressures on urban water environment.展开更多
