The ability to transmit information and deliver services using telecommunication tools continues to transform the way healthcare is delivered around the world. The aim of this study was to highlight the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic profile of oral and maxillofacial surgery patients consulted using the WhatsApp application. Methodology: This was a three-year descriptive study with a retrospective data collection, from 2021 to 2023, of WhatsApp communications between our team and oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Cameroon. In this study, the type/content of messages received, the epidemiological data of practitioners and patients, the various pathologies diagnosed and the procedures performed were evaluated. Results: 319 communications were received for a total of 146 cases. Written messages associated with images (photographs and/or X-rays) were the most frequently received, at 85.62%. Hospitals in urban areas were the most represented at 93.84%. Oral health professionals in the private sector sent more messages (65.75%). In terms of diagnoses, tumour and cystic pathologies were the most common (28.08%), followed by impacted/retained teeth (22.6%). Patients were referred to our hospital for treatment in 62.33% of cases. Conclusion: The WhatsApp application is an easy-to-use telecommunications tool. It facilitates exchanges between practitioners and improves patient care in oral and maxillofacial surgery.展开更多

Methods:Platinum needles (electrode) were inserted into t he MFH in 405 patients, the locations of which were found with the guidance of B ̄ultrasonography or CT, and the number of needles was decided by the size of the MFH, the distance between needles was about 1.5cm, and the peri ̄lesional health tissues were protected with plastic insulating canulae. The electrodes, i.e. the cathodes and anodes, were linked to the EA apparatus for EA treatment, and the usually applied voltage was 5.0-7.0V, the current 60-80mA and the quanti ty about 100 coulombs/cm of MFH's diameter. B ̄ultrasonography was used for mo nitoring during EA, and the treatment was finished when B ̄ultrasonography sho wed disappearance of blood flow in the MFH. Results: Evaluation ac cording to WHO's standard for therapeutic efficacy evaluation of tumor showed th at, after treatment, 345 patients (85.2%) were completely remitted (CR), 39 (9.6 %) partially remitted (PR), 12 (3.0%) improved pathologically, and 9 (2.2%) show ing no improvement, the effective rate (CR+PR) being 94.8%. Conclusion: EA, as a creative technique for treatment of MFH, has made a breakthrough in clinical practice, showing high efficacy. 文摘Oral and maxillofacial tumors (OMT) constitute a great number in tumors of head and neck as a whole. The incidence of OMT in China is rather low. but. owing to our big population, the absolute number of the patients is high. The diagnosis and treatment of OMT in China with special emphasis on malignancies are briefly introduced below.
文摘The anatomic relationship of oral and maxillofacial region is very com-plex,due to the large number of sinuses, cavities and spaces, and also closely related to the brain. The diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial lesions usually depends on the imaging examination. The conventional imaging methods are common CT and X-ray plain films. In recent years, with the rapid development of medical science and technology, more intuitive and vivid three-dimensional images have been applied in the diagnosis and treatment of oral and maxillofacial diseases. Therefore,CT three-dimensional imaging technology has been widely used in clinical practice. This paper reviews this topic.

文摘Injectable hydrogel is suitable for the repair of lacunar bone deficiency. This study fabricated an injectable,self-adaptive silk fibroin/mesoporous bioglass/sodium alginate(SMS)composite hydrogel system. With controllable and adjustable physical and chemical properties, the SMS hydrogel could be easily optimized adaptively to different clinical applications. The SMS hydrogel effectively showed great injectability and shapeability, allowing defect filling with no gap. Moreover, the SMS hydrogel displayed self-adaptability in mechanical reinforcement and degradation, responsive to the concentration of Ca2+and inflammatory-like pH value in the microenvi-ronment of bone deficiency, respectively. In vitro biological studies indicated that SMS hydrogel could promote osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells by activation of the MAPK signaling pathway. The SMS hydrogel also could improve migration and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.Investigations of the crosstalk between osteoblasts and macrophages confirmed that SMS hydrogel could regulate macrophage polarization from M1 to M2,which could create a specific favorable environment to induce new bone formation and angiogenesis.Meanwhile,SMS hydrogel was proved to be antibacterial, especially for gram-negative bacteria.Furthermore,in vivo study indicated that SMS could be easily applied for maxillary sinus elevation, inducing sufficient new bone formation. Thus,it is convincing that SMS hydrogel could be potent in a simple, minimally invasive and efficient treatment for the repair of lacunar bone deficiency.
