It is known to all, the spilling of pipeline may cause serious problems, especially when the pipe conveying petroleum, natural gas or other toxic substance. There are countless accidents during past century. Once the spilling occurs, the vibration of the pipe would aggravate spill situation and even result in crack of the pipe. The consequence will be more severe when the fluid inside is compressible. To prevent the detriment of the spilling model is developed by assuming the leakages as orifices or nozzles and a 2-D vertical simply supported pipe is selected to analyze the phenomena of the oscillation. Combining these two models, the oscillation model for the pipe with leakage is set up and the spilling effect is analyzed by numerical method. The amplitude of the pipe oscillation and the normal stress enlarge as the internal velocity increased, while the shear stress changes very little. 展开更多

This study explores the fluid mechanics and force generation capabilities of an inverted heaving airfoil placed close to a moving ground using a URANS solver with the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. By varying the mean ground clearance and motion frequency of the airfoil, it was possible to construct a frequency-height diagram of the various forces acting on the airfoil. The ground was found to enhance the downforce and reduce the drag with respect to freestream. The unsteady motion induces hysteresis in the forces’ behaviour. At moderate ground clearance, the hysteresis increases with frequency and the airfoil loses energy to the flow, resulting in a stabilizing motion. By analogy with a pitching motion, the airfoil stalls in close proximity to the ground. At low frequencies, the motion is unstable and could lead to stall flutter. A stall flutter analysis was undertaken. At higher frequencies, inviscid effects overcome the large separation and the motion becomes stable. Forced trailing edge vortex shedding appears at high frequencies. The shedding mechanism seems to be independent of ground proximity. However, the wake is altered at low heights as a result of an interaction between the vortices and the ground. 展开更多

This paper studies the unsteady heat and mass natural convection in a highly porous medium bounded by an infinite vertical porous wall. The unsteady source of the problem arises from the transverse oscillations in suction velocity of fluids, The analytical results for the problem are obtained based on the method of small parameter, and show that the natural circulation in the porous medium is affected by this kind of oscillation. 展开更多

In recent years, with the development of simulations about supernova explosion,we have a better understanding about the density profiles and the shock waves in supernovae than before. There might be a reverse shock wave, another sudden change of density except the forward shock wave,or even no shock wave, emerging in the supernova.Instead of using the expression of the crossing probability at the high resonance,PH,we have studied the matter effects on neutrino oscillations in different supernova models. In detail,we have calculated the survival probability of νe(P_s)and the conversion probability of ν_x(P_c) in the Schrodinger equation within a simplified two-flavor framework for a certain case,in which the neutrino transfers through the supernova matter from an initial flavor eigenstate located at the core of the supernova. Our calculations was based on the data of density in three different supernova models obtained from simulations. In our work,we do not steepen the density gradient around the border of the shock wave, which differs to what was done in most of the other simulations. It is found that the mass and the density distribution of the supernova do make a difference on the behavior of P_s and P_c.With the results of P_s and P_c,we can estimate the number of νe(and ν_x) remained in the beam after they go through the matter in the supernova. 展开更多

In this paper oscillatory 2-D natural convection from a vertical isothermal wall embedded in a po- rous medium, and originating from the oscillation of longitudinal fluid flow, has been investigated both analytically and numerically. Two asymptotic solutions, valid for large and small values of dimensionless frequency γ respectively, are obtained in the closed form. In the range where the asymptotic solutions break down, numerical results to the governing equations are obtained by local similarity meth- od. Both numerical and analytical results show that pulsatory components of the flow and heat transfer depend only on the parameter γ, and the effect of longitudinal oscillation is to decrease the magnitude or' pulsatory Nusselt number with a phase lag between 0 and 90 deg. A correlation for pulsatory heat trans- fer rates is proposed in the whole range of γ within 3% accuracy compared with the numerical results. 展开更多

A generalized scheme for the construction of coherent states in the context of position-dependent effective mass systems has been presented. This formalism is based on the ladder operators and associated algebra of the system which are obtained using the concepts of supersymmetric quantum mechanics and the property of shape invariance. In order to exemplify the general results and to analyze the properties of the coherent states, several examples have been considered. 展开更多

In this paper, analysis of DC and analog/RF performance on cylindrical gate-all-around tunnel fieldeffect transistor(TFET) has been made using distinct device geometry. Firstly, performance parameters of GAATFET are analyzed in terms of drain current, gate capacitances, transconductance, source-drain conductance at different radii and channel length. Furthermore, we also produce the geometrical analysis towards the optimized investigation of radio frequency parameters like cut-off frequency, maximum oscillation frequency and gain bandwidth product using a 3D technology computer-aided design ATLAS. Due to band-to-band tunneling based current mechanism unlike MOSFET, gate-bias dependence values as primary parameters of TFET differ. We also analyze that the maximum current occurs when radii of Si is around 8 nm due to high gate controllability over channel with reduced fringing effects and also there is no change in the current of TFET on varying its length from 100 to 40 nm.However current starts to increase when channel length is further reduced for 40 to 30 nm. Both of these trades-offs affect the RF performance of the device. 展开更多

By utilizing the first order behavior of the device,an equation for the frequency of operation of the submicron CMOS ring oscillator is presented.A 5-stage ring oscillator is utilized as the initial design, with different Beta ratios, for the computation of the operating frequency.Later on,the circuit simulation is performed from 5-stage till 23-stage,with the range of oscillating frequency being 3.0817 and 0.6705 GHz respectively. It is noted that the output frequency is inversely proportional to the square of the device length, and when the value of Beta ratio is used as 2.3,a difference of 3.64%is observed on an average,in between the computed and the simulated values of frequency. As an outcome, the derived equation can be utilized, with the inclusion of an empirical constant in general, for arriving at the ring oscillator circuit’s output frequency. 展开更多
