Methods Immortalized human lymphocyte cell lines with independent genotypes on four CYP2E1 SNP sites were induced with 0.01% phenol, a metabolite of benzene. CYP2E1 gene function was evaluated by mRNA expression and enzyme activity. DNA damage was measured by Single-Cell Gel Electrophoresis (SCGE). Results Among the four SNPs, cells with rs2070673TT and rs2030920CC showed higher levels of ~YP2E1 transcription and enzymatic activity than the other genotypes in the same SNP site. Cells with higher gene expression genotypes also showed higher comet rates compared with lower gene expression genotypes. Conclusion These results suggest that CYP2E1 rs2070673 and rs2030920 might be the genetic biomarkers of susceptibility to benzene toxicity and that the immortalized human lymphocytes model might be an efficient tool for the detection of genetic biomarkers of susceptibility to chemicals.展开更多

Therefore, it is imperative that a simple and environmentally friendly alternative be developed. The approach that involves preparing p -benzoquinone by the catalytic oxidation of benzene with hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) over copper-modi ed titanium silicalite-1 (Cu/TS-1) has a certain superiority due to its green synthesis and mild reaction condi- tions. In this study, Cu/TS-1 catalyst was prepared by the wet impregnation of TS-1 with an aqueous solution of Cu(NO 3 ) 2 and then characterized by X-ray di raction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, di use re ectance UV Vis spectros- copy, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, X-ray uorescence, and analysis of the N 2 adsorption desorption isotherms. The results reveal that Cu species exist mainly in the form of amorphous CuO that is well dispersed on the surface of catalysts, with no major change in the molecular sieve framework. After optimizing the reaction conditions, a desirable p -benzoquinone selectivity (88.4%) and benzene conversion (18.3%) were obtained when the doping of Cu in Cu/TS-1 is 1.95 wt%. In addition, Cu/TS-1 can be conveniently regenerated, showing a slight decrease in catalytic capability after initial use, which then stabilizes in subsequent circulations. The satisfactory stability and low cost of synthesizing Cu/TS-1 give this method considerable potential for further industrialization.展开更多

Benzene hydrogenation was used as a probe reaction for the study of catalytic activity. The effects of the support on the activity and thermal stability of the supported catalyst were discussed based on various characterizations, including XRD, TEM, ICP, XPS, H2-TPD, and DTA. In comparison with the NiP amorphous alloy, the benzene conversion on NiP/CNT catalyst was lower, but the specific activity of NiP/CNT was higher, which is attributed to the dispersion produced by the support, an electron-donating effect, and the hydrogen-storage ability of CNT. The NiP/CNT thermal stability was improved because of the dispersion and electronic effects and the good heat-conduction ability of the CNT support.展开更多

Chain transfer constant of VBSC was determined to be around 0.3 by fitting the 1H-NMR monitored experimental results with a mathematic model. According to the theoretical analysis, the obtained poIy(VBSC) and its copolymers were substantiated to have a grafting-like main chain with residual pendent sulfonyl chloride groups after consuming most of the vinyl groups. The copolymerization results of VBSC with styrene at varied feed ratios demonstrated that conversion of sulfonyl chloride groups was lower than that of the monomer, which was in agreement with the theoretical results. The glass transition temperature, number average molecular weight and distribution of those obtained polymers were primarily investigated. Comparing with other chain transfer monomers, VBSC has a chain transfer constant much closer to unity therefore a more branched polymer is expected. Additionally, the branched polystyrene with residual sulfonyl chloride groups is hopefully to be further used as ATRP macro- initiators or reactive intermediates to synthesize functional polymers with complex structure.展开更多
