Genetic analysis indicated that the phenotype was caus...A thermo-insensitive pale green leaf mutant (pgl2) was isolated from T-DNA inserted transgenic lines of rice (Oryza sativa L. subsp, japonica cv. Nipponbare). Genetic analysis indicated that the phenotype was caused by a recessive mutation in a single nuclear-encoded gene. To map the PGL2gene, an F2 population was constructed by crossing the mutant with Longtefu (Oryza sativa L. subsp, indica). The PGL2 locus was roughly linked to SSR marker RM331 on chromosome 8. To finely map the gene, 14 new InDel markers were developed around the marker, and PGL2 was further mapped to a 2.37 Mb centromeric region. Analysis on chlorophyll contents of leaves showed that there was no obvious difference between the mutant and the wild type in total chlorophyll (Chl) content, while the ratio of Chl a / Chl b in the mutant was only about 1, which was distinctly lower than that in the wild type, suggesting that the PGL2 gene was related to the conversion between Chl a and Chl b. Moreover, the method of primer design around the centromeric region was discussed, which would provide insight into fine mapping of the functional genes in plant centromeres.展开更多

We conducted sedimentological and strati...Paleogene sedimentary basins exposed across much of the central and eastern Tibetan Plateau may record the early history of plateau uplift related to the Indo\|Asian collision. We conducted sedimentological and stratigraphic investigations in the northeastern Qiangtang terrane, eastern Tibetan Plateau. Our results indicate development of several nonmarine basins during Paleogene(?) time, probably synchronous with northeast\|southwest contractional deformation. The Nangqian and Xialaxiu basins (96°~97°E, 32°~33°N) are composed of 500~ 20000m thick successions of primarily clastic sediment indicative of lacustrine and alluvial\|fan depositional processes. Paleocurrent measurements and sediment compositional data indicate local sediment source areas composed of Carboniferous\|Triassic carbonate and sandstone and minor Tertiary volcanic rocks. The large variability of provenance and facies types suggest that each basin evolved independently, as opposed to regional development of a single integrated basin which was partitioned by later deformation.展开更多

The private practice I am working for has six branches in the middle east. I tried to investigate if there were any vascular occlusion incidences through the last three years. Four cases without sufficient details were found. A protocol was adopted from a scientific reference to deal with similar cases properly. It has a w...The present study aimed to estimate the occurrence of Iron Deficiency anemia (IDA) in school and college going students (aged 11 - 18 years). Anemia is the most public health problem in school age children. It has a wide range of adverse results involving, poor cognitive performance, poor development of infants, preschool and school-aged children. Anemia also causes the impairment of physical capacity, work performance of adolescents and adults, reduction in immune competence and increased morbidity from infections in all age groups. Our study based on 1686 volunteers was randomly selected from different Government High schools and colleges. A Questionnaire was utilized for data collection. BMI was also calculated by dividing weight in kg by the square of height in meters. Hemoglobin (Hb), Hematocrite (Hct), Mean Corpuscular volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), white blood cell (WBC) and red blood cell was examined using Sysmex kx-21N hemoglobin auto analyzer (Hedwin, 2008). The total percentage of anaemic students (43.1%) and non-anaemic (56.9%) were observed in district Shaheed Benazirabad. The mean Hb level of anaemic students (11.1 ± 4.94) was observed. In males (12.7%) and females (30.4%) anemic was observed. The prevalence of anemia high (16.2%) was observed in the age of 14 - 16 years. The majority of anemic patients (30.2%) belonged to low income group. Area wise prevalence, in rural areas 27.8% and urban areas 15.3% volunteers anaemic was observed. Taluka wise occurrence of anaemia in taluka Sakrand was (14.6%), in taluka Kazi Ahmed (15.0%), in taluka Daur (8.0%) and in taluka Nawabshah was (5.5%). Clinically signs and symptoms showed, pale skin 57.7% and weakness 42.3% were observed in school children.展开更多
