Three patterns cou...Large scale of sexual cell fusion was carried out in order to observe the fusion pattern during in vitro fertilization with special interest in the influence of cell volume on the membrane behavior. Three patterns could be recognized in sexual cell fusion, which was supported by fluorescent microscopy with the aid of video enhanced system and cooled CCD. It was found that the fusion pattern and cell membrane behavior were related to the cell volume ratio of two fusing cells. The results reported here might be useful for interpreting and evaluating data from in vitro fertilization experiments and for explaining male cytoplasm exclusion during fertilization.展开更多

The model,represented by a back-propagation netal network, was trained with a 12 set of published data for divalent rare earth halides and then was used to predict the unknown ones. Also the criterion equations were ptesented to determine the enthalpies of fuSion for divalent rare earth halides using pattern recognition in mis work. A hierarchical particle filter(HPF) framework based on multi-feature fusion is proposed.The proposed HPF effectively uses different feature information to avoid the tracking failure based on the single feature in a ...A hierarchical particle filter(HPF) framework based on multi-feature fusion is proposed.The proposed HPF effectively uses different feature information to avoid the tracking failure based on the single feature in a complicated environment.In this approach,the Harris algorithm is introduced to detect the corner points of the object,and the corner matching algorithm based on singular value decomposition is used to compute the firstorder weights and make particles centralize in the high likelihood area.Then the local binary pattern(LBP) operator is used to build the observation model of the target based on the color and texture features,by which the second-order weights of particles and the accurate location of the target can be obtained.Moreover,a backstepping controller is proposed to complete the whole tracking system.Simulations and experiments are carried out,and the results show that the HPF algorithm with the backstepping controller achieves stable and accurate tracking with good robustness in complex environments.展开更多

To remedy the defects of recognizer based on electromyogram(EMG), we deve...Based on the regularity nature of lower-limb motion,an intent pattern recognition approach for above-knee prosthesis is proposed in this paper. To remedy the defects of recognizer based on electromyogram(EMG), we develop a pure mechanical sensor architecture for intent pattern recognition of lower-limb motion. The sensor system is composed of an accelerometer, a gyroscope mounted on the prosthetic socket, and two pressure sensors mounted under the sole. To compensate the delay in the control of prosthesis, the signals in the stance phase are used to predict the terrain and speed in the swing phase. Specifically, the intent pattern recognizer utilizes intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC) according to the Cartesian product of walking speed and terrain. Moreover, the sensor data are fused via DempsterShafer's theory. And hidden Markov model(HMM) is used to recognize the realtime motion state with the reference of the prior step. The proposed method can infer the prosthesis user's intent of walking on different terrain, which includes level ground,stair ascent, stair descent, up and down ramp. The experiments demonstrate that the intent pattern recognizer is capable of identifying five typical terrain-modes with the rate of 95.8%. The outcome of this investigation is expected to substantially improve the control performance of powered above-knee prosthesis.展开更多

In this paper, we propose a novel method called distributed compressed sensing for image using block measurements data fusion. Firstly, original image is divided into small blocks and each block is sampled independently using the same measurement operator, to obtain the smaller encoded sparser coefficients and stored measurements matrix and its vectors.? Secondly, original image is reconstructed using the block measurements fusion and recovery transform. Finally, several numerical experiments demonstrate that our method has a much lower data storage and calculation cost as well as high quality of reconstruction when compared with other existing schemes. We believe it is of great practical potentials in the network communication as well as pattern recognition domain.展开更多

This paper tackles the problem of video segment obtaining in complex movie videos. Firstly, intermediate descriptor is proposed to depict the variation of both abrupt and gradual change in shot boundaries, which is formed by distance vector on Local Binary Pattern(LBP), GIST(GIST) or their fusion. Instead of just using the adjacent frames distance, intermediate descriptor keeps the distances between current frame and consecutive frames. It comprehensively characterizes local temporal structure, which is especially important for gradual change. For the excellent ability for feature fusion in random forests, it is adopted here to verify the fusion effect of intermediate descriptor on LBP and GIST. The whole experiments are designed on the subset of TRECVid 2013 INS(INstance Search) task to verify the effectiveness of proposed intermediate descriptor and the fusion ability for random forest. Compared with static and adaptive thresholds approaches, the best performance can be achieved by post-fusion of intermediate descriptor on LBP and GIST.展开更多

In this paper, an electrical resistance tomography(ERT) imaging method is used as a classifier, and then the Dempster-Shafer's evidence theory with fuzzy clustering is integrated to improve the ERT image quality. ...In this paper, an electrical resistance tomography(ERT) imaging method is used as a classifier, and then the Dempster-Shafer's evidence theory with fuzzy clustering is integrated to improve the ERT image quality. The fuzzy clustering is applied to determining the key mass function, and dealing with the uncertain, incomplete and inconsistent measured imaging data in ERT. The proposed method was applied to images with the same investigated object under eight typical current drive patterns. Experiments were performed on a group of simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics tool and measurements with a piece of porcine lung and a pair of porcine kidneys as test materials. Compared with any single drive pattern, the proposed method can provide images with a spatial resolution of about 10% higher, while the time resolution was almost the same.展开更多

In some categories, classification precision of the latest techniques, in the product images classification system, is still low. In this paper, we propose a local texture descriptor termed fan refined local binary pattern, which captures more detailed information by integrating the spatial distribution into the local binary pattern feature. We compare our approach with different methods on a subset of product images on Amazon/e Bay and parts of PI100 and experimental results have demonstrated that our proposed approach is superior to the current existing methods. The highest classification precision is increased by 21% and the average classification time is reduced by 2/3.展开更多
