Contactless measurement of wind flow has been utilized in many fields, such as weather forecasting, hurricane tracking, and aeronautic alarm. In this paper, a novel multi-laser beams measuring system (MLBM) for high precision detection of wind field based on optical scintillations and small perturbation theory was proposed and verified. According to the fluctuation intensity of laser backscatter received by two detectors, peak delay technique was adopted to determine the velocity of wind flow. Detailed procedure to deal with backscatter signals was also presented. Then, practical experiments and measurement results showed high precision of the proposed system for wind measurement with a relative error as 3.21%. Consequently, the MLBM system possesses obvious potential application in engineering project. 展开更多

The Ghana Research Reactor-1 (GHARR-1) core was modified with an addition of a 9.0 mm layer of beryllium to the top shim tray to compensate for reactivity loss due to fuel depletion after 19 years of operation. Neutronic and kinetic parameters have been predicted using Monte Carlo N-Particle Code version 5 (MCNP5) to determine whether they were within acceptable operating margins. Excess reactivity, control rod worth, moderator reactivity coefficient, delayed neutron fraction and neutron generation time have been predicted as 3.86, 6.98, −0.1218 mk/°C, 8.17507 × 10−3 Δk/k, and 8.147 × 10−5 s respectively. These parameters compared favorably with those provided in the initial Safety Analysis Report. 展开更多

High-frequency S-wave seismogram envelopes of microearthquakes broaden with increasing travel distance,a phenomenon known as S-wave envelope broadening. Multiple forward scattering and diffraction for the random inhomogeneities along the seismic ray path are the main causes of S-wave envelope broadening,so the phenomenon of S-wave envelope broadening is used to study the inhomogeneity of the medium. The peak delay time of an S-wave,which is defined as the time lag from the direct S-wave onset to the maximum amplitude arrival of its envelope,is accepted to quantify S-wave envelope broadening. 204 small earthquake records in Changbaishan Tianchi volcano were analyzed by the S-wave envelope broadening algorithm. The results show that S-wave envelope broadening in the Changbaishan Tianchi volcano is obvious, and that the peak delay time of S-wave has a positive correlation with the hypocenter distance and frequency of the S-wave. The relationships between the S-wave peak delay time and the hypocenter distance for different frequency bands were obtained using the statistics method. The results are beneficial to the understanding of the S-wave envelope broadening phenomena and the quantitative research on the inhomogeneities of the crust medium in the Changbaishan Tianchi volcano region. 展开更多

The equivalent electrical circuit model of a bundled single-walled carbon nanotube based distributed RLC interconnects is employed for the crosstalk analysis. The accurate time domain analysis and crosstalk effect in the VLSI interconnect has emerged as an essential design criteria. This paper presents a brief description of the numerical method based finite difference time domain (FDTD) technique that is intended for estimation of voltages and currents on coupled transmission lines. For the FDTD implementation, the stability of the proposed model is strictly restricted by the Courant condition. This method is used for the estimation of crosstalk induced propagation delay and peak voltage in lossy RLC interconnects. Both functional and dynamic crosstalk effects are analyzed in the coupled transmission line. The effect of line resistance on crosstalk induced delay, and peak voltage under dynamic and functional crosstalk is also evaluated. The FDTD analysis and the SPICE simulations are carried out at 32 nm technology node for the global interconnects. It is observed that the analytical results obtained using the FDTD technique are in good agreement with the SPICE simulation results. The crosstalk induced delay, propagation delay, and peak voltage obtained using the FDTD technique shows average errors of 4.9%, 3.4% and 0.46%, respectively, in comparison to SPICE. 展开更多
