Electrical Metrology Applications of LabVIEW Software

Automation in measurement has wide range of electrical metrology applications and construction of powerful calibration software is one of the highly accurate metrological laboratories’ priorities. Thus, two automatic systems for controlling and calibrating the electrical reference standards have been established at National Institute for Standards (NIS), Egypt. The first system has been built to calibrate the zener diode reference standards while the second one has been built to calibrate the electrical sourcing and measuring instruments. These two systems act as the comprehensive and reliable structure that, from the national electrical standards, disseminates the traceability to all the electrical units under calibration. The software of the two systems has been built using the Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) graphical language. The standard development procedures have been followed in the building of both systems software. The software requirement specifications as well as functional specifications are taken into consideration. Design, implementation and testing of the software have been performed. Furthermore, software validation for measurements’ uncertainty as well as results’ compatibility in both automatic and manual modes has been achieved.

Assessment and Prediction of Software Reliability in Mobile Applications

Software reliability is an important quality attribute, and software reliability models are frequently used to measure and predict software maturity. The nature of mobile environments differs from that of PC and server environments due to many factors, such as the network, energy, battery, and compatibility. Evaluating and predicting mobile application reliability are real challenges because of the diversity of the mobile environments in which the applications are used, and the lack of publicly available defect data. In addition, bug reports are optionally submitted by end-users. In this paper, we propose assessing and predicting the reliability of a mobile application using known software reliability growth models (SRGMs). Four software reliability models are used to evaluate the reliability of an open-source mobile application through analyzing bug reports. Our experiment proves it is possible to use SRGMs with defect data acquired from bug reports to assess and predict the software reliability in mobile applications. The results of our work enable software developers and testers to assess and predict the reliability of mobile software applications.

Improving Information Technology Infrastructure Library Service Delivery Using an Integrated Lean Six Sigma Framework: A Case Study in a Software Application Support Scenario

Increasing competition in service businesses (eg: Information Technology, Healthcare, Education, Logistics, Distribution, Hospitality Financial and other services) is compelling corporates to adopt business improvement philosophies and methodologies for addressing customer demands for better quality service and organizational demands for improving the profit margins through cost reduction. Many companies around the world have already implemented Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as a way to manage and control their Information Technology (IT) Departments more effectively. These companies are now willing to improve their ITIL processes in order to become even more efficient. Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that has been suggested as a means to resolve these problems, reducing costs and improving quality. Its application in the IT Services area is becoming increasingly popular among researchers and academicians and can be used to conduct these improvements. Despite the application of lean six sigma approaches to different contexts in the service sector, the application of Lean Six Sigma approaches in service delivery specific to Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) remains largely untested. The purpose of this paper is to implement Integrated Lean Six Sigma for Software application support services and evaluate the benefits of continual service improvement over ITIL.

Teaching Reform Conception of Software Engineering Core Courses for Cloud Application

In the 10 years after the concept of cloud computing was put forward,compared with traditional technologies and methods,great changes have taken place in the development methods,technical architecture,deployment methods and operation and maintenance modes of software systems.At present,software projects for cloud applications occupy the mainstream in the market.However,the undergraduate training programs for software engineering or computer science majors in many universities in China are still relatively traditional,lagging behind the development of cloud computing technology for freshmen.In view of this situation,this paper tries to select 3 core courses of“Requirements Analysis and System Design,Web Development Technology,Cloud Native Technology”in the undergraduate training program of software engineering major of Harbin Institute of Technology 2020 as the baseline,and puts forward the idea of breaking the barriers between courses and carrying out penetrating teaching reform.It aims to train students to have the ability to analysis,design and implementation of cloud-based application systems to meet the new needs of the market.

Discussion on the Application of Complex Power Network to Software Engineering

Along with the further development of science and technology, computer hardware and the Intemet are in a rapid development, and information technology has been widely used in all fields so that complex problems are simply solved. Application Server Aging Model and Multi-Level Rejuvenation Strategy Using Semi-Markov Process

Aiming at the characteristic of the dependency between the application components and the application server platform, a rejuvenation strategy with two different levels of rejuvenation granularities is put forward in this paper including the application component reiuvenation and the application server system rejuvenation. The availability and maintenance cost functions are obtained by means of establishing the application server aging model and the boundary condition of the optimal rejuvenation time is analyzed. Theory analysis indicates that the two-level rejuvenation strategy is superior to the traditional single level one. Finally, evaluation experiments are carried out and numerical result shows that compared with the traditional rejuvenation policy, the rejuvenation strategy proposed in this paper can further increase availability of the application server and reduce maintenance cost.

Systematic Review of Web Application Security Vulnerabilities Detection Methods

In recent years, web security has been viewed in the context of securing the web application layer from attacks by unauthorized users. The vulnerabilities existing in the web application layer have been attributed either to using an inappropriate software development model to guide the development process, or the use of a software development model that does not consider security as a key factor. Therefore, this systematic literature review is conducted to investigate the various security vulnerabilities used to secure the web application layer, the security approaches or techniques used in the process, the stages in the software development in which the approaches or techniques are emphasized, and the tools and mechanisms used to detect vulnerabilities. The study extracted 519 publications from respectable scientific sources, i.e. the IEEE Computer Society, ACM Digital Library, Science Direct, Springer Link. After detailed review process, only 56 key primary studies were considered for this review based on defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. From the review, it appears that no one software is referred to as a standard or preferred software product for web application development. In our SLR, we have performed a deep analysis on web application security vulnerabilities detection methods which help us to identify the scope of SLR for comprehensively investigation in the future research. Further in this SLR considering OWASP Top 10 web application vulnerabilities discovered in 2012, we will attempt to categories the accessible vulnerabilities. OWASP is major source to construct and validate web security processes and standards.

Application-aware routing with QoS support in SDN networks

Software defined networking( SDN) offers programmable interface to effectively control their networks by decoupling control and data plane. The network operators utilize a centralized controller to deploy advanced network management strategies. An architecture for application-aware routing which can support dynamic quality of service( Qo S) in SDN networks is proposed. The applicationaware routing as a multi-constrained optimal path( MCOP) problem is proposed,where applications are treated as Qo S flow and best-effort flows. With the SDN controller applications,it is able to dynamically lead routing decisions based on application characteristics and requirements,leading to a better overall user experience and higher utilization of network resources. The simulation results show that the improvement of application-aware routing framework on discovering appropriate routes,which can provide Qo S guarantees for a specific application in SDN networks.

P2P Business Applications: Future and Directions

Since the launch of Napster in June 1999, peer-to-peer technology (P2P) has become synonymous with file sharing applications that are the bane of the recording industry due to copyright infringements and consequent revenue losses. P2P promised a revolution in business computing which has not arrived. It has become synonymous with illegal file sharing and copyright violations. Meanwhile the information systems industry has undergone a paradigm change, and we are supposedly living in a world of cloud computing and mobile devices. It is pertinent to examine if P2P, as a revolutionary technology, is still relevant and important today and will be in future. One has to examine this question in the context of the fact that P2P technologies have matured but have however had limited adoption outside file sharing in the consumer space. This paper provides a detailed analysis of P2P computing and offers some propositions to answer the question of the relevancy of P2P. It is proposed that P2P is still a relevant technology but may be reshaped in the coming years in a different form as compared to what exists today.

Research on Test Methods for AI Industrial Application Capabilities of Smart Mobile Terminals

A test method and system for AI industrial application capabilities of smart terminals. The method includes the following steps: According to the temperature change values of different AI industrial applications executed by standard smart terminal equipment under different equipment parameters, the equipment parameters and temperature changes of standard smart terminal equipment are constructed. Correlation model;obtain the device parameters of the smart terminal device to be tested, and obtain the predicted value of the temperature change of the smart terminal device to be tested based on the correlation model between the device parameters of the standard smart terminal device and the temperature change;Measure the actual value of the temperature change of the intelligent terminal device executing different AI industrial applications;obtain the test result of the intelligent terminal device to be tested according to the predicted value of the temperature change and the actual value of the temperature change.

Support for development and test of web application:A tree-oriented model

Building an abstract model of the web application is the chief task of software test based on model, which is an efficient way for testing the web application. One problem with current web application test technologies is the lack of tools for modeling the whole web software, especially the lack of support for describing web application from the view of action and function. This paper is concerned with providing the support for development and test of the web application. The presented novel model, named component-based and tree-oriented web application development model （CBTOWADM）, abstracts the web application as a tree based on its system function and business process. CBTOWADM not only simplifies the design and development of the web application, but also acts as the model middleware for software test. The basic model definition, the system framework and the application in software test of CBTOWADM is described.

Research on the Component-based Software Architecture

Computer software has been becoming more and more c om plex with the development of hardware. Thus, how to efficiently develop extensib le, maintainable and adaptable software occurs to be an urgent problem. The comp onent-based software development technique is a better method to solve the prob lem. In this paper, we first discuss the concept, description method and some fa miliar styles of software architecture, and then analyze the merits of using the software architecture to guide the software development. We also present a gene ral design method for component. Its applications are finally provided.
