In order to solve the problem of experimental research on the penetration process of projectile into anchored rock mass, we derived the essential similarity conditions for the physical simulation experi- ment according to the similarity theory, carried out the experiment on the penetration process of a kind of penetrating bomb into the anchored rock mass of type III, and compared the experimental results with the values computed by the professional Young's empirical formula. The test results show that the phys- ical simulation experiment can represent the actual penetration process of projectile into anchored rock mass. The research method proposed in this paper provides technical support for the experimental research on the design and reconstruction of underground protection works. 展开更多

An element-free Galerkin method(EFGM) is used to solve the two-dimensional(2D) ground penetrating radar(GPR)modelling problems, due to its simple pre-processing, the absence of elements and high accuracy. Different from element-based numerical methods, this approach makes nodes free from the elemental restraint and avoids the explicit mesh discretization. First, we derived the boundary value problem for the 2D GPR simulation problems. Second, a penalty function approach and a boundary condition truncated method were used to enforce the essential and the absorbing boundary conditions, respectively. A three-layered GPR model was used to verify our element-free approach. The numerical solutions show that our solutions have an excellent agreement with solutions of a finite element method(FEM). Then, we used the EFGM to simulate one more complex model to show its capability and limitations. Simulation results show that one obvious advantage of EFGM is the absence of element mesh, which makes the method very flexible. Due to the use of MLS fitting, a key feature of EFM, is that both the dependent variable and its gradient are continuous and have high precision. 展开更多

The influence of a vertical jet located at the distributor in a cylindrical fluidized bed on the flow behavior of gas and particles was predicted using a filtered two-fluid model proposed by Sundaresan and coworkers. The distributions of volume fraction and the velocity of particles along the lateral direction were investigated for different jet velocities by analyzing the simulated results. The vertical jet penetration lengths at the different gas jet velocities have been obtained and compared with predictions derived from empirical correlations; the predicted air jet penetration length is discussed. Agreement between the numerical simulations and experimental results has been achieved. 展开更多

The mechanism of the increasing of A-TIG welding penetration is studied by using the activating flux we developed for stainless steel, The effect of fluxon the flow and temperature fields of weld pool is simulated by the PHOENICS software, It shows that without flux, the fluid flow will be outward along the surface of the weld pool and then down, resulting in a flatter weld pool shape. With the flux, the oxygen, which changes the temperature dependence of surface tehsion grads froma negative value toa positive value, can cause significant changes onthe Weld penetration. Fluid flow will be inward along the surface of the weld pool toward the center and then down. This fluid flow pattern efficiently transfers heat to the weld root and produces a relatively deep and narrow weld.This change is the main cause of penetration increase. Moreover, arc construction can cause the weld width to become narrower and the penetration to become deeper, but this is not the main cause of penetration increase. The effects Of flux on fluid flow of the weld pool surface and arc profiles were observed in conventiOnai TIG welding and in A-TIG welding by using high-speed video camera; The fluid flow behavior was visualized in realtime scale by micro focused X-ray transmission video observation system. The result indicated that stronger inward fluid flow patterns leading to weld beads with narrower width and deeper penetration could be apparently identified in the case of A-TIG welding.The flux couldchange the direction of fluid flow i-n welding pool. It has a good agreement with the simulation result. 展开更多

Molecular dynamics simulation of diffusion of nanoparticles in mucus 被引量:1

The rapid diffusion of nanoparticles (NPs) through mucus layer is critical for efficient transportation of NPs-loaded drug delivery system. To understand how the physical and surface properties of NPs affect their diffusion in mucus, we have developed a coarse-grained molecular dynamics model to study the diffusion of NPs in modeled mucus layer. Both steric obstruction and hydrodynamic interaction are included in the model capable of capturing the key characteristics of NPs' diffusion in mucus. The results show that both particle size and surface properties significantly affect the diffusivities of NPs in mucus. Furthermore, we find rodlike NPs can gain a higher diffusivity than spherical NPs with the same hydrodynamic diameter. In addition, the disturbed environment can enhance the diffusivity of NPs. Our findings can be utilized to design mucus penetrating NPs for targeted drug delivery system. 展开更多

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are effective molecular carriers in cytological research, gene therapy, and transgenic applications. Herein, we investigated the internalization behavior of the LDH-DNA biocon- jugates via a microscopic approach and analyzed the internalization pathway by dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulations. We experimentally found that LDH can efficiently carry DNA into the nucleus of cell in BY-2 suspension cells. Furthermore, atomic force microscopy and X-ray diffraction anal- ysis demonstrated that the LDH-DNA bioconjugates mainly exist as a DNA-LDH-DNA sandwich complex, while the LDH-DNA-LDH sandwich complex and DNA-LDH complex cannot be excluded. The DPD simu- lations further indicated that only the DNA-LDH-DNA sandwich structure could penetrate the plasma membrane (PM), while PM is impermeable to the LDH-DNA-LDH sandwich complex and the DNA-LDH complex. This work provides novel perspective for understanding the membrane penetration mechanism of LDH nano-sheets and new insights into the design of novel molecular delivery systems. 展开更多
