A User-Friendly SSVEP-Based BCI Using Imperceptible Phase-Coded Flickers at 60Hz 被引量:1

A brain-computer interface(BCI)system based on steady-state visual evoked potentials(SSVEP)was developed by four-class phase-coded stimuli.SSVEPs elicited by flickers at 60Hz,which is higher than the critical fusion frequency(CFF),were compared with those at 15Hz and 30Hz.SSVEP components in electroencephalogram(EEG)were detected using task related component analysis(TRCA)method.Offline analysis with 17 subjects indicated that the highest information transfer rate(ITR)was 29.80±4.65bpm with 0.5s data length for 60Hz and the classification accuracy was 70.07±4.15%.The online BCI system reached an averaged classification accuracy of 87.75±3.50%at 60Hz with 4s,resulting in an ITR of 16.73±1.63bpm.In particular,the maximum ITR for a subject was 80bpm with 0.5s at 60Hz.Although the BCI performance of 60Hz was lower than that of 15Hz and 30Hz,the results of the behavioral test indicated that,with no perception of flicker,the BCI system with 60Hz was more comfortable to use than 15Hz and 30Hz.Correlation analysis revealed that SSVEP with higher signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)corresponded to better classification performance and the improvement in comfortableness was accompanied by a decrease in performance.This study demonstrates the feasibility and potential of a user-friendly SSVEP-based BCI using imperceptible flickers. 展开更多

The radar signal processor mainly consists of five functional modules: radar system timer, binary phase coded pulse compression(PC), moving target detection (MTD), constant false alarm rate (CFAR) and target dots processing. Preliminary target dots information is obtained in PC, MTD, and CFAR modules and Nios I! CPU is used for target dots combination and false sidelobe target removing. Sys- tem on programmable chip (SOPC) technique is adopted in the system in which SDRAM is used to cache data. Diffractive lenses(DLs)can realize high-resolution imaging with light weight and compact size.Conventional DLs suffer large chromatic and off-axis aberrations,which significantly limits their practical applications.Although many achromatic methods have been proposed,most of them are used for designing small aperture DLs,which have low diffraction efficiencies.In the designing of diffractive achromatic lenses,increasing the aperture and improving the diffraction efficiency have become two of the most important design issues.Here,a novel phase-coded diffractive lens(PCDL)for achromatic imaging with a large aperture and high efficiency is proposed and demonstrated experimentally,and it also possesses wide field-of-view(FOV)imaging at the same time.The phase distribution of the conventional phase-type diffractive lens(DL)is coded with a cubic function to expand both the working bandwidth and the FOV of conventional DL.The proposed phase-type DL is fabricated by using the laser direct writing of grey-scale patterns for a PCDL of a diameter of 10 mm,a focal length of 100 mm,and a cubic phase coding parameter of 30π.Experimental results show that the working bandwidth and the FOV of the PCDL respectively reach 50 nm and 16°with over 8%focusing efficiency,which are in significant contrast to the counterparts of conventional DL and in good agreement with the theoretical predictions.This work provides a novel way for implementing the achromatic,wide FOV,and high-efficiency imaging with large aperture DL. 展开更多

This paper describes the techniques developed in the last few years in microwave photonics that might revolutionize the way to design multifunction radar systems,with an emphasis on the recent advances in optoelectronic oscillators( OEOs),arbitrary waveform generation,photonic mixing,phase coding,filtering,beamforming,analog-to-digital conversion,and stable radio-frequency signal transfer. This paper proposes a model of neural networks consisting of populations of perceptive neurons, inter-neurons, and motor neurons according to the theory of stochastic phase resetting dynamics. According to this model, the dynamical characteristics of neural networks are studied in three coupling cases, namely, series and parallel coupling, series coupling, and unilateral coupling. The results show that the indentified structure of neural networks enables the basic characteristics of neural information processing to be described in terms of the actions of both the optional motor and the reflected motor. The excitation of local neural networks is caused by the action of the optional motor. In particular, the excitation of the neural population caused by the action of the optional motor in the motor cortex is larger than that caused by the action of the reflected motor. This phenomenon indicates that there are more neurons participating in the neural information processing and the excited synchronization motion under the action of the optional motor. 展开更多

This paper investigates the problem of almanac affecting the signal acquisition time with two constraints: different age of data and multi-sets of almanac. The contributions made in this paper include: 1) the exploiting of signal acquisition concept to extend well-known almanac function of predicting visible satellite and initializing signal acquisition to minimizing the signal acquisition time; 2) a model based on code phase and Doppler frequency to reflect the impact of multi-sets of almanac on the signal acquisition time; 3) the evaluation of the existing GPS almanac with different broadcast strategy. The theoretical analyses and simulations conducted on three sets of almanac show that the model proposed in this paper is general and efficient for almanac design and application. 展开更多

Based on the advantage of phase coded signal and stepped frequency signal,a new hybrid modulation signal is introduced in this paper. It combines phase code modulation during the pulse with stepped frequency modulation between the pulses, which is named as phase-coded stepped-frequency ( PCSF ) signal. By analyzing its waveform and ambiguity function,the comparison between Stepped-Frequency ( SF) signal and PCSF signal is given,which shows that the PCSF signal is better than SF signal. Finally,the signal processing method with two stage compressed processing is presented. The simulation results show that this new hybrid modulation radar signal can get a higher stepped frequency than ordinary SF signal,realize the same equivalent bandwidth with less pulse number,and solve the conflict among the stepped frequency,the number of pulse, and transmit average power. Under the premises of a certain range resolution,this new hybrid modulation radar signal not only raises the data rate of radar system,but also reduces Doppler sensitivity with a good prospect, and the effect of one-dimensional range profile is much better than that of traditional SF signal. Therefore,this new hybrid modulation radar signal can be widely used in application. 展开更多

The time bandwidth product (TBWP) of the linearly chirped waveform is improved based on optical microwave frequency multiplying combined with temporal synthesis. An integrated dual-polarization modulator and an optical filter are utilized to perform frequency doubling operation by generating an orthogonally polarized optical signal, which consists of an optical carrier in one polarization direction and a second-order chirped optical sideband in another. Then the orthogonally polarized optical signal puts into a polarization modulator (PolM) to perform phase coding process. By driving a Pseudorandom (PN) sequence to the PolM, the time duration of the generated bandwidth doubled linearly chirped waveform can be synthesized to arbitrary length. The approach is verified by simulation. A linearly chirped waveform with central frequency of 8.25 GHz, bandwidth of 500 MHz, time duration of 6.4 ns is used to generate a synthesized waveform with central frequency of 16.5 GHz, bandwidth of 1 GHz, time duration of 819.2 ns. The TBWP of the linearly chirped signal is improved from 3.2 to 819.2. The proposed method features arbitrary large TBWP, and it can be used in a radar system to improve its resolution. </div> 展开更多

The Q-ary low-density parity-check(LDPC) coded high order partial response continuous phase modulation(PR-CPM) with double iterative loops is investigated. This scheme shows significant improvements in power and bandwidth efficiency, but at the expense of long iterative decoding delay and computational complexity induced by the improper match between the demodulator and the decoder. To address this issue, the convergence behavior of Q-ary LDPC coded CPM is investigated for the Q=2 and Q〉2 cases, and an optimized design method based on the extrinsic information transfer chart is proposed to improve the systematic iterative efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve a perfect tradeoff between iterative decoding delay and bit error rate performance to satisfy real-time applications. 展开更多

We focus on photonic generation and transmission of microwave signals in this work.Based on dual-pumped stimulated Brillouin scattering,a single-sideband(SSB)optical signal with high sideband rejection ratio is obtained.Combined with a phase-modulated optical carrier,an arbitrarily phase coded microwave signal is generated after photoelectric conversion.The SSB modulation can eliminate the fiber-dispersion-induced power dispersion naturally,and the phase modulation of the optical carrier can achieve arbitrary phase encoding and suppress background noise.The proposed scheme can achieve both generation and anti-dispersion transmission of arbitrarily phase coded signals simultaneously,which is suitable for one-to-multi long-distance radar networking. 展开更多

Intermediate spoofing can impact most off-the-shelf Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receivers, therefore low cost detection of such spoofing is very important to protect the reliability of the GNSS receivers used in critical safety and financial applications. This paper presents two strategies to analyze attacks by intermediate spoofing attackers to identify the weaknesses of such attacks. The analyses lead to a code and carrier phase consistency detection method with simulation results showing that this method can indicate the receiver when spoofing has occurred. The method can be used by most receivers, is inexpensive, and requires only a small software upgrade. 展开更多
