The stability of synchronous state remains an open issue. In this paper, we study the stability of the synchronous state in coupled phase oscillators. It is found that numerical integration of differential equations of coupled phase oscillators with a finite time step may induce desynchronization at strong couplings. The mechanism behind this instability is that numerical accumulated errors in simulations may trigger the loss of stability of the synchronous state.Desynchronization critical couplings are found to increase and diverge as a power law with decreasing the integral time step. Theoretical analysis supports the local stability of the synchronized state. Globally the emergence of synchronous state depends on the initial conditions. Other metastable ordered states such as twisted states can coexist with the synchronous mode. These twisted states keep locally stable on a sparse network but lose their stability when the network becomes dense.展开更多

Although with some common model biases as in other directly coupled models, FGCM-1.0 is capable of producing the interannual variability of the tropical Pacific, such as the ENSO phenomenon. The mechanism of the ENSO events in the coupled model can be explained by “delayed oscillator” and “recharge-discharge” hypotheses. Compared to the observations, the simulated ENSO events show larger amplitude with two distinctive types of phase-locking: one with its peak phase-locked to boreal winter and the other to boreal summer. These two types of events have a similar frequency of occurrence, but since the second type of event is seldom observed, it may be related to the biases of the coupled model. Analysis show that the heat content anomalies originate from the central south Pacific in the type of events peaking in boreal summer, which can be attributed to a different background climatology from the normal events. The mechanisms of their evolutions are also discussed.展开更多

Finding the vicinity of the synchronization frequency is the major advantage of the describing function method over other traditional methods. The presented quadrature VCO is suitable to be used, both with 2 × subharmonic mixers, as well as 4×subharmonic mixers. It would be impossible to avoid the presence of harmonics in CMOS VCO circuits. These harmonics are in general, undesirable signals which tend to accompany the desired fundamental signal. There are common-mode nodes (similar to those in the two source nodes in a cross-coupled VCO) in deferential VCO at which higher-order harmonics are present while the fundamental is absent in essence. We can make use of these second-order harmonics which are present at the common-mode nodes of two VCO in order to implement a quadrature connection between the fundamental outputs. The technique through which this is done is called superharmonic coupling. This CMOS quadrature VCO which applies active superharmonic coupling puts an excellent performance in show, with an output power –0.942 dBm for fundamental and –9.751 dBm for subharmonic, phase noise –107.2 dBc/Hz for fundamental and –114.8 dBc/Hz at a 1MHz offset. All of circuit applied are designed and simulated by ADS, 2008.展开更多

Building on recent experimental advancements, we propose the generation of synthetic gauge fields, and by including exotic vortex phases within spinor Bose-Einstein condensates, employing a combination of a running wave and Laguerre-Gaussian laser fields. We investigate the ground-state characteristics of the SOAMC condensate, revealing the emergence of exotic vortex states with controllable orbital angular momenta. It is shown that the interplay of the SOAMC and conventional spin-linear-momentum coupling induced by the running wave beam leads to the formation of a vortex state exhibiting a phase stripe hosting single multiply quantized singularity. The phase of the ground state will undergo the phase transition corresponding to the breaking of rotational symmetry while preserving the mirror symmetry. Importantly, the observed density distribution of the ground-state wavefunction, exhibiting broken rotational symmetry, can be well characterized by the synthetic magnetic field generated through light interaction with the dressed spin state. Our findings pave the way for further exploration into the rotational properties of stable exotic vortices with higher orbital angular momenta against splitting in the presence of synthetic gauge fields in ultracold quantum gases.展开更多

Stability and precrystalline form of fresh Li induced silica phase transition catalyst depend on the Li loading. A catalyst, with high lithium loading, destabilizes on OCM stream. This destabilization is not due to Li evaporation at OCM reaction conditions, α-cristobalite is proposed to be an intermediate in the crystallization of amorphous silica into quartz in the Li-induced silica phase transition process. However, the type of crystalline structure was found to be unimportant with regard to the formation of a selective catalyst. Metal-metal interactions of Li-Mn, Li-W and Mn-W, which are affected during silica phase crystallization, are found to be critical parameters of the trimetallic catalyst and were studied by TPR. Role of lithium in Li doped (Mn+W)/SiO2 catalyst is described as a moderator of the Mn-W interaction by involving W in silica phase transition. These interactions help in the improvement of transition metal redox properties, especially that of Mn, in favor of OCM selectivity.展开更多

The iterative method decouples the whole equation systems into pressure and saturation/concentration equations, and then solves them in sequence, implicitly and semi-implicitly. At each time step, a series of iterations are computed, which involve solving linearized equations using specific tolerances that are iteration dependent. Following convergence of subproblems, material balance is checked. Convergence of time steps is based on material balance errors. Key components of the iterative method include phase scaling for deriving a pressure equation and use of several advanced numerical techniques. The iterative model is implemented for parallel computing platforms and shows high parallel efficiency and scalability.展开更多

All of circuit applied are designed and simulated by ADS, 2008.

文摘Ultracold atoms endowed with tunable spin-orbital-angular-momentum coupling(SOAMC)represent a promising avenue for delving into exotic quantum phenomena. Our findings pave the way for further exploration into the rotational properties of stable exotic vortices with higher orbital angular momenta against splitting in the presence of synthetic gauge fields in ultracold quantum gases.
文摘Modification and performance of Li induced silica phase transition of (Mn+W)/SiO2 catalyst, under reaction conditions of oxidative coupling of methane (OCM), have been investigated employing textural characterizations and redox studies. These interactions help in the improvement of transition metal redox properties, especially that of Mn, in favor of OCM selectivity.

文摘A new higher-order continuum model is proposed by considering the coupling and lane changing effects of the vehicles on two adjacent lanes. A stability analysis of the proposed model provides the conditions that ensure its linear stability. Issues related to lane changing, shock waves and rarefaction waves, local clustering and phase transition are also investigated with numerical experiments. The simulation results show that the proposed model is capable of providing explanations to some particular traffic phenomena commonly observable in real traffic flows.
文摘In this paper, the iterative coupling approach is proposed for applications to solving multiphase flow equation systems in reservoir simulation, as it provides a more flexible time-stepping strategy than existing approaches. The iterative model is implemented for parallel computing platforms and shows high parallel efficiency and scalability.

文摘It has been demonstrated that the diffusion couple technique is a powerful and efficient approach in establishing phase relationships of ternary systems. Accurate data on the phase equilibria can be obtained if the appropriate alloys are employed as end members of the diffusion couple. It is desirable to combine the diffusion couple technique with an investigation of the afterwards selected equilibrated alloys so that the precision and reliability of the obtained information about a ternary isotherm could be guaranteed.
