This paper presents an H∞ controller design method for piecewise discrete time linear systems based on a piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function. It is shown that the resulting closed loop system is globally stable with guaranteed H∞ performance and the controller can be obtained by solving a set of bilinear matrix inequalities. It has been shown that piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions are less conservative than the global quadratic Lyapunov functions. The α-stability of closed-loop systems is also considered. It is shown that the output feedback controller design procedure of uncertain piecewise linear systems with α-stability constraint can be cast as solving a set of bilinear matrix inequalities (BMIs). The BMIs problem in this paper can be solved iteratively as a set of two convex optimization problems involving linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be solved numerically efficiently. This paper studies the problem of robust H∞ control of piecewise-linear chaotic systems with random data loss. The communication links between the plant and the controller are assumed to be imperfect (that is, data loss occurs intermittently, which appears typically in a network environment). The data loss is modelled as a random process which obeys a Bernoulli distribution. In the face of random data loss, a piecewise controller is designed to robustly stabilize the networked system in the sense of mean square and also achieve a prescribed H∞ disturbance attenuation performance based on a piecewise-quadratic Lyapunov function. The required H∞ controllers can be designed by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Chua's system is provided to illustrate the usefulness and applicability of the developed theoretical results. 展开更多

This paper investigates the problem of robust H-infinity state estimation for a class of uncertain discretetime piecewise affine systems where state space instead of measurable output space partitions are assumed so that the filter implementation may not be synchronized with plant state trajectory transitions. Based on a piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function combined with S-procedure and some matrix inequality convexifying techniques, two different approaches are developed to the robust filtering design for the underlying piecewise affine systems. It is shown that the filter gains can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a simulation example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. 展开更多

This paper investigates the design of state feedback and dynamic output feedback stabilizing controllers for discrete-time piecewise affine(PWA) systems.The main objective is to derive design methods that will incorporate the partition information of the PWA systems so as to reduce the design conservatism embedded in existing design methods.We first introduce a transformation that converts the feedback control design problem into a bilinear matrix inequality(BMI) problem.Then,two iterative algorithms are proposed to compute the feedback controllers characterized by the BMI.Several simulation examples are given to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed design. 展开更多

This paper presents delay-dependent stability analysis and controller synthesis methods for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with time delays. The T-S fuzzy system is transformed to an equivalent switching fuzzy system. Consequently, the delay-dependent stabilization criteria are derived for the switching fuzzy system based on the piecewise Lyapunov function. The proposed conditions are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The interactions among the fuzzy subsystems are considered in each subregion, and accordingly the proposed conditions are less conservative than the previous results. Since only a set of LMIs is involved, the controller design is quite simple and numerically tractable. Finally, a design example is given to show the validity of the proposed method. 展开更多

GH2 stability sufficient conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The interactions among the fuzzy subsystems are considered. Therefore, the proposed conditions are less conservative than the previous results. Since only a set of LMIs is involved, the controller design is quite simple and numerically tractable. A kinetic model of the piecewise-linear nonlinear suspension system that consists of a dominant spring and an assistant spring is established. Bifurcation of the resonance solution to a suspension system with two degrees of freedom is investigated with the singularity theory. Transition sets of the system and 40 groups of bifurcation diagrams are obtained. The local bifurcation is found, and shows the overall character- istics of bifurcation. Based on the. relationship between parameters and the topological bifurcation solutions, motion characteristics with different parameters are obtained. The results provides a theoretical basis for the optimal control of vehicle suspension system parameters. 展开更多

Hence, simple chaotic systems which can easily be realized mechanically or electro-mechanically are highly desired. We study a new pieeewise linear spring-tnass system. The chaotic behaviour in this system is characterized using bifurcation diagrams and the invariant parameters of the dynamics. We also show that there exists a stochastic analogue of this system, which mimics the dynamical features of its deterministic counterpart. This allows a greater flexibility in practical designs as the chaotic oscillations are obtained either deterministically or stochastically. Also, the oscillations are low dimensional, which reduces the computational resources needed for obtaining the invariant parameters of this system. 展开更多

We first design a discrete hyperchaotic system via piece-wise linear state feedback. The states of the closed loop system are locally expanding in two directions but absolutely bounded on the whole, which implies hyperchaos. Then, we use three suchlike hyperchaotic systems with different feedback gain matrices to design a pseudo-random sequence generator (PRSG). Through a threshold function, three sub-sequences generated from the output of piecewise linear functions are changed into 0-1 sequences. Then, followed by XOR operation, an unpredictable pseudo-random sequence (PRS) is ultimately obtained. The analysis and simulation results indicate that the PRS, generated with hyperchaotic systems, has desirable statistical features. 展开更多

Chen to the case of noisy observation. Recursive algorithms are given for estimating all unknown parameters contained in the system, and their strong consistency is proved. The estimation method is similar to that used by H. E. Chen for Hammerstein systems with the same nonlinearity. However, the assumption imposed by H. E. Chen on the availability of an upper bound for the nonsmooth points of the piecewise-linear function has been removed in this paper with the help of designing an additional algorithm for estimating the upper bound. 展开更多

For constrained piecewise linear (PWL) systems, the possible existing model uncertainty will bring the difficulties to the design approaches of model predictive control (MPC) based on mixed integer programming (MIP). This paper combines the robust method and hybrid method to design the MPC for PWL systems with structured uncertainty. For the proposed approach, as the system model is known at current time, a free control move is optimized to be the current control input. Meanwhile, the MPC controller uses a sequence of feedback control laws as the future control actions, where each feedback control law in the sequence corresponds to each partitions and the arbitrary switching technique is adopted to tackle all the possible switching. Furthermore, to reduce the online computational burden of MPC, the segmented design procedure is suggested by utilizing the characteristics of the proposed approach. Then, an offline design algorithm is proposed, and the reserved degree of freedom can be online used to optimize the control input with lower computational burden. 展开更多
