In the history of bridge engineering, demand has always been the primary driving force for development. Driven by the huge demand for construction since China’s reform and opening-up, Chinese bridge has leapt forward both quantitatively and qualitatively in three major stages, by completing the transition from “follower” to “competitor,” and nally to “leader.” A new future is emerging for Chinese bridge engi- neering. As an important part of China’s transportation infrastructure, the bridge engineering industry is facing challenges in this new era on how to support the construction of a new form of transportation. This paper provides a summary of the status of bridge technology in China, based on a basic analysis of stock demand, incremental demand, and management demand. It is our belief that the Chinese bridge engi- neering industry must ful ll three outstanding requirements: construction ef ciency, management effec- tiveness, and long-term service. Intelligent technology based on information technology provides a new opportunity for innovation in bridge engineering. As a result, the development path of bridge engineering needs to be changed. This paper puts forward the idea of developing a third-generation bridge project that is characterized by intelligence, and discusses this project’s implications, development focus, and plan. In this way, this work provides a direction for the improvement of the core competitiveness of China’s bridge engineering industry. 展开更多

Sponge city is a development pattern used to realize natural accumulation, natural infiltration and natural purification of rainwater through urban planning and construction management. Sponge city technology is widely used as the critical approaches in natural rainwater management and it is one of the best techniques to adapt climate change events in modern cities. In the paper, we firstly reviewed background information of sponge city construction and the development, key technologies, and economic benefit analysis of stormwater management in foreign countries. Then, we analyzed the technology gap between China and developed countries in two aspects (planning design method and Low Impact Development (LID) project design). Then, we pointed out the main obstacles in sponge city technology transfer and proposed to improve the basic data sharing system and strengthen the economic return system. On the basis of sponge city planning theory and sponge city technologies, taking Shenzhen as an example, we analyzed the ideas and plans of sponge city construction in rainy areas and completed the assessment of current climate technology demands in Chinese sponge city. The study provides the basis for the improvements in sponge city construction and adaptation to climate change. 展开更多

Under the stimulation of the urban economy, all sectors of the society pay more and more attention to the utilization and redevelopment of the urban steel industry brown-land, hoping to improve the living environment of the surrounding residents and promote the surrounding economy through the restoration of the brown-land environment. The rainwater management, as an important means to improve the water environment in the brown-land transformation of the iron and steel industry, is bound to reshape the environment of the brown-land of the iron and steel industry and create a good ecological environment of the brown-land. Based on the analysis and comparison of the methods and techniques of the rainwater management, combined with the surface water transmission paths and the technical facilities in the iron and steel industry, this paper puts forward the landscape planning measures of the rainwater management from three aspects of the rainwater and architecture, the rainwater and roads, and the rainwater and iron and steel elements, and displays the application process of the rainwater management in the form of the landscape, so as to achieve the unity of the technology and arts. 展开更多

We have dedicated special attention to the technologies necessary to guarantee the continuity of the power supply to the electromedical devices, increasingly numerous in highly specialized hospitals. Objective:To describe the information technology and artificial intelligence support in management experiences of the pediatric designated hospital in the wave of COVID-19 in Shanghai.Methods:We retrospectively concluded the management experiences at the largest pediatric designated hospital from March 1st to May 11th in 2022 in Shanghai.We summarized the application of Internet hospital,face recognition technology in outpatient department,critical illness warning system and remote consultation system in the ward and the structed electronic medical record in the inpatient system.We illustrated the role of the information system through the number and prognosis of patients treated.Results:The COVID-19 designated hospitals were built particularly for critical patients requiring high-level medical care,responded quickly and scientifically to prevent and control the epidemic situation.From March 1st to May 11th,2022,we received and treated 768 children confirmed by positive RT-PCR and treated at our center.In our management,we use Internet Information on the Internet Hospital,face recognition technology in outpatient department,critical illness warning system and remote consultation system in the ward,structed electronic medical record in the inpatient system.No deaths or nosocomial infections occurred.The number of offline outpatient visits dropped,from March to May 2022,146,106,48,379,57,686 respectively.But the outpatient volume on the internet hospital increased significantly(3,347 in March 2022 vs.372 in March 2021;4,465 in April 2022 vs.409 in April 2021;4,677 in May 2022 vs.538 in May 2021).Conclusions:Information technology and artificial intelligence has provided significant supports in the management.The system might optimize the admission screening process,increases the communication inside and outside the ward,achieves early detection and diagnosis,timely isolates patients,and timely treatment of various types of children. 展开更多

Energy harvesting(EH)technology in wireless communication is a promising approach to extend the lifetime of future wireless networks.A cross-layer optimal adaptation policy for a point-to-point energy harvesting(EH)wireless communication system with finite buffer constraints over a Rayleigh fading channel based on a Semi-Markov Decision Process(SMDP)is investigated.Most adaptation strategies in the literature are based on channeldependent adaptation.However,besides considering the channel,the state of the energy capacitor and the data buffer are also involved when proposing a dynamic modulation policy for EH wireless networks.Unlike the channeldependent policy,which is a physical layer-based optimization,the proposed cross-layer dynamic modulation policy is a guarantee to meet the overflow requirements of the upper layer by maximizing the throughput while optimizing the transmission power and minimizing the dropping packets.Based on the states of the channel conditions,data buffer,and energy capacitor,the scheduler selects a particular action corresponding to the selected modulation constellation.Moreover,the packets are modulated into symbols according to the selected modulation type to be ready for transmission over the Rayleigh fading channel.Simulations are used to test the performance of the proposed cross-layer policy scheme,which shows that it significantly outperforms the physical layer channel-dependent policy scheme in terms of throughput only. 展开更多

This study investigated a water supply recovery problem involving municipal water service piping. The problem consisted in recovering full service after network failure, in order to rapidly satisfy all urgent citywide demands. The optimal recovery solution was achieved through the application of so-called network design problems (NDPs), which are a form of combinatorial optimization problem. However, a conventional NDP is not suitable for addressing urgent situations because (1) it does not utilize the non-failure arcs in the network, and (2) it is solely concerned with stable costs such as flow costs. Therefore, to adapt the technique to such urgent situations, the conventional NDP is here modified to deal with the specified water supply problem. In addition, a numerical illustration using the Sendai water network is presented. 展开更多
