We observed the linear-to-zigzag structural phase transition of a ^40Ca^+ crystal in a homemade linear Paul trap. The values of the total temperature of the ion crystals during the phase transition are derived using the molecular-dynamics(MD) simulation method. A series of simulations revealed that the ratio of the radial to axial secular frequencies has a dependence on the total temperature that obeys different functional forms for linear and zigzag structures, and the transition point occurs where these functions intersect; thus, the critical value of the ratio of secular frequencies that drives the structure phase transition can be derived. 展开更多

However, there are still many problems in its practical application. Dielectric and mechanical (internal friction) measurements are very sensitive to phase transitions, relaxation process of point defects, domain walls and their mobility, which have severe effect on ferroelectric properties. These make them become very good means to investigate substantial information on structural features and to explore the fundamental principles in ferroelectric materials and their applications. In this paper, the dielectric and internal friction measurement were used to investigate the behaviors for point defects and phase transition in ferroelectric ceramics such as Bi_ 4-x La_ x Ti_ 3 O_ 12 , Bi_ 4 Ti_ 3-y Nb_ y O_ 12 , SrBi_ 2 Ti_ 2 O_ 9 , PbZr_ x Ti_ 1-x O_ 3 ,_ PMN-PT. A modified TG-DSC apparatus was used to measure their Curie temperatures, which were around 7600C, lower than that of pure Fe thin films. The easy magnetization axis was in-plane. High temperature annealing in vacuum decreased the coercivity sharply. The saturation magnetization also changed with heat treatment. After annealing at the temperature equal to the substrate temperature during deposition, the saturation magnetization decreased. 展开更多

Gas-phase CO_2 catalyzed activation hydrogenation by Ru atoms was studied with density functional theory. Based on the structure optimization of different potential energy surfaces,there are two crossing points between singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces and there is a crossing point between quintet and triplet potential energy surfaces in the whole catalytic cycle. Spin transition probabilities in the vicinity of the intersections have been calculated by the Landau-Zener model theory. There are three minimum energy crossing points(MECPs) with strong spin-orbital coupling effect and higher spin transition probability,and all spin inversion occurred in s orbital and different d orbitals of ruthenium,indicating this is a typical two-state reactivity(TSR) reaction. Finally,the lowest energy reaction path is ensured. 展开更多

Magnetic and electrical transport study of the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBi_(2)Te_(4)with Ge doping

As an intrinsic magnetic topological insulator with magnetic order and non-trivial topological structure,MnBi_(2)Te_(4)is an ideal material for studying exotic topological states such as quantum anomalous Hall effect and topological axion insulating states.Here,we carry out magnetic and electrical transport measurements on(Mn1–xGex)Bi_(2)Te_(4)(x=0,0.15,0.30,0.45,0.60,and 0.75)single crystals.It is found that with increasing x,the dilution of magnetic moments gradually weakens the antiferromagnetic exchange interaction.Moreover,Ge doping reduces the critical field of ferromagnetic ordering,which may provide a possible way to implement the quantum anomalous Hall effect at lower magnetic field.Electrical transport measurements suggest that electrons are the dominant charge carriers,and the carrier density increases with the Ge doping ratio.Additionally,the Kondo effect is observed in the samples with x=0.45,0.60,and 0.75.Our results suggest that doping germanium is a viable way to tune the magnetic and electrical transport properties of MnBi_(2)Te_(4),opening up the possibility of future applications in magnetic topological insulators. 展开更多

Locating the QCD critical end point through peaked baryon number susceptibilities along the freeze-out line 被引量:1

We investigate the baryon number susceptibilities up to fourth order along different freeze-out lines in a holographic QCD model with a critical end point(CEP), and we propose that the peaked baryon number susceptibilities along the freeze-out line can be used as a clean signature to locate the CEP in the QCD phase diagram.On the temperature and baryon chemical potential plane, the cumulant ratio of the baryon number susceptibilities(up to fourth order) forms a ridge along the phase boundary, and develops a sword-shaped "mountain" standing upright around the CEP in a narrow and oblate region. The measurement of baryon number susceptibilities from heavy-ion collision experiments is along the freeze-out line. If the freeze-out line crosses the foot of the CEP mountain, then one can observe the peaked baryon number susceptibilities along the freeze-out line, and the kurtosis of the baryon number distributions has the highest magnitude. The data from the first phase of the beam energy scan program at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider indicates that there should be a peak of the kurtosis of the baryon number distribution at a collision energy of around 5 Ge V, which suggests that the freeze-out line crosses the foot of the CEP mountain and the summit of the CEP should be located nearby, around a collision energy of 3–7 GeV. 展开更多
