Quantitative and Qualitative Investigation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing Protocols for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective:To analyze the implementation status of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)nursing protocols for type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods:Totally 420 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were given TCM nursing protocols by syndrome differentiation.A quantitative and qualitative investigation was conducted to patients who received TCM nursing and nurses who performed TCM nursing techniques.Results:According to the self-evaluation outcomes of patients,TCM nursing protocols were effective to relieve polydipsia,polyuria,fatigue and other symptoms.Patients exhibited a high level of compliance with nursing techniques such as auricular point pressing,acupoint massage,Chinese herbal foot-bath and moxibustion.The interview showed that patients could benefit from the TCM nursing protocols,and nurses considered that application of TCM nursing protocols could enhance their awareness of TCM knowledge and practice skills.Conclusion:The application of TCM nursing protocols is effective to relieve clinical symptoms of type 2 diabetes mellitus.It can also improve the knowledge level and practice skills of nurses in TCM hospitals.

Operational procedures of auricular point sticking technology

As an external treatment technique of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),auricular point sticking,which is rooted in holographic biology theory and TCM viscera and meridian theory,is a safe and effective treatment method.This article introduces the technology overview and development process.The auricular point sticking technique for constipation is taken as an example to specify the basic requirements,assessment,operational points,acupoint selection and matters needing attention during the implementation of the auricular acupressure technique,providing a reference for the operating procedures of this technique in the clinical treatment of other diseases such as insomnia,diarrhea,colds,hypertension,headache,and dysmenorrhea.

OBSERVATION ON EFFECT OF POINT INJECTION AS THE MAIN TREATMENT FOR OBSTETRIC BRACHIAL PLEXUS PALSY

To discuss the best way of treatment for obstetric brachial plexus palsy （OBPP）. Method： The 102 cases of OBPP were randomized into two groups： the observation group （51 cases） and the control group （51 cases）. The observation group was treated by point injection with nerve growth factor （NGF）, acupuncture, and moxibustion. The control group was treated by acupuncture and moxibustion. Result： The result was compared after two courses of treatment. The curative rate of observation group was 35.3% and that of control group 11.8%. The curative and remarkably effective rate was 78.4% and 43.2% respectively. In the two-two comparison, the difference was significant （ P〈 0. 01 ）. Conclusion： The effect of NGF point injection as the main treatment for OBPP was good, worth spreading.

Therapeutic Efficacy Observation on Combining Foot Bath and Massage with Auricular Point Sticking for Community Senile Insomnia

Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of combining foot bath and massage with auricular point sticking for community senile insomnia. Methods: A total of 210 cases treated in our community health center were randomized into an observation group and a control group by their visit sequence numbers, 105 cases in each group. Cases in the observation group were treated with foot bath and massage plus auricular point sticking, whereas cases in the control group were treated with auricular point sticking alone. After four courses of treatment, the therapeutic efficacies were evaluated. In addition, the sleep quality was also assessed using the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI). Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 95.2%, versus 68.6% in the control group, showing a statistical significance(P<0.05). Conclusion: Combining foot bath and massage with auricular point sticking could obtain better effect for community senile insomnia than auricular point sticking alone.
