The ensuing economic crisis, beginning in 2007, led to the destruction of a large number of companies and jobs. The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between educational level, employment and economic activity, in the Spanish and foreign working population in the Spanish labour market and the impact that the economic crisis is having on employment and self-employment. The hypotheses considered have been as followed--HI: The economic crisis mainly affects the less educated working population, both Spanish and foreign; H2: Self-employment is characterized by being an initiative of a working population with low educational levels for both population groups (Spanish and foreign); H3: Employment is related to the productive economic structure. Micro-data from the Labour Force Survey 2009 (EPA in Spanish) has been used, compiled by Spains National Statistics Office (INE in Spanish), and it has been applied Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) to detect possible associations among the study variables (nationality, level of education, salaried employment, self-employment and economic activity). The results show significant differences between both groups: Spanish and foreign working population. The study also shows how the crisis affects employment, and the important role played by the educational level of the working population, especially foreigners employed in certain economic activities.展开更多

We can not only employ one of the facets of self-identity to measure it as a whole. Work is definitely one of the categories of self-identity but it is not the only category to identify people themselves. Even if we don't discuss the psychological elements on this issue, from the perspective of sociology, self-identity is also closely related with education, culture, ethnics and so on. In this essay, we only correlate the issue of self-identity in the context of relating education with work. Although either education or work is seen as the separate category of self-identity, in practice, self-identity is achieved through the collaboration and mutual effects of education and work due to the close relationship between the two of them. Therefore, education, as the base and threshold to work, "life long education" and cross-disciplinary knowledge education should be promoted in order to help people establish the positive self-identity.展开更多

In line with other countries, medical and paramedical training differs from college or university to when the graduates start working in the hospital wards;it seems like a new career to freshmen. Rehabilitation draws together the most varied professional teams treating patients from a range of specialists, and physical therapists generally receive very little intra-workplace skills training. The aim of this paper is to develop the first of a two-part educational model that is useful for the professional development of therapists working in rehabilitation medicine, by incorporating, at least, Shared Decision-Making and Narrative-Based Medicine. The most productive systems of analysis are Bloom’s psychomotor taxonomy and the Japanese DIKW system. The Japanese DIKW model of “chishin”, which is based on Data, Information, Knowledge, and Wisdom, is similar to the professional attitude and rehabilitative mindset in the healthcare system, the convalescent rehabilitation wards. The individual, departmental, and hospital levels could all benefit from aspects of these systems. Rehabilitative medicine in Japanese terms is presented as a holistic medical care that heals the body and mind and restores dignity, such as personality and self-confidence, and it is also a place where unique Japanese cultural concepts such as “Ikigai” (reason to live) and “Omotenashi” (hospitality) can be nurtured as professional awareness.展开更多

The aim of this paper is to,through an explorative literature overview with an inductive approach, analyze frequent, and significant themes in published peer reviewed articles, with a focus on physical literacy. The database EBSCO has been used with the identifiers “physical literacy” and “physical literacy and evidence”.Furthermore ICSSPE Bulletin's special issue on physical literacy has been included in the overview. The findings have resulted in three key themes: assumptions of the concept physical literacy and its educative role, sports development and physical literacy, and assessment and physical literacy. Future studies are needed to examine if the advocated pedagogical strategies based on the concept physical literacy have led to a reorganized and revitalized school subject. There is also an existing critique towards making physical literacy an idealistic neutral concept or synonym with fundamental movement skills or sports talent identification. The role of higher education emerges as crucial for the next step of the development of the scientific framework as this involves how physical literacy will be socially configured, nurtured, and embodied in practice.Copyright ó 2015, Shanghai University of Sport.
