The reactions were separately carried out under air, oxygen, and nitrogen. The obtained results showed that this reaction belongs to the pseudo-first-order reaction with a rate constant kobs of 1.4×10?5 s?1 at room temperature. The presence or absence of air, oxygen, and nitrogen did not have obvious effects on the reaction rate under irradiation with light.展开更多
Poly(2,5-dimethoxyaniline) (PDMA) has been synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization technique using varying ratio (wt/wt) of binary oxidants;ferric chloride (FeCl3) and ammonium persulfate (APS). Fourier trans...Poly(2,5-dimethoxyaniline) (PDMA) has been synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization technique using varying ratio (wt/wt) of binary oxidants;ferric chloride (FeCl3) and ammonium persulfate (APS). Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and ultraviolet-visible (Uv-vis) spectroscopic investigations provide the evidence of the presence of both benzenoid and quinoid ring units. The thermal analysis and structural characterization data suggests that the oxidant ratio greatly controls the molecular ordering in PDMA. Surface morphology shows the existence of both amorphous and crystalline domains wherein the crystalline domain size depends on the oxidant ratio. The dc conductivity (σdc) of PDMA is also a function of binary oxidant ratio and at FeCl3:APS (50:50), it increases by two orders of magnitude. Films of PDMA synthesized using FeCl3:APS (50:50) binary oxidant exhibits a decrease in the surface current on exposure to ammonia gas.展开更多

The film formed can be peeled off the electrode into freestanding films, The addition of EE into BFEE can improve the solubility of monomer. P5CI films obtained from this medium showed excellent electrochemical behavior with conductivity of 10^-2 S cm^-1, Structural studies showed that the polymerization of 5-cyanoindole occurred at the 2,3 position. As-formed P5CI films were thoroughly soluble in strong polar organic solvent dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) while partly soluble in tetrahydrofuran (THF) or acetone. Fluorescence spectral studies indicated that P5CI was a good blue-ight emitter.展开更多

The intrinsic viscosity [η] of poly(3,5-dimethylphenylacrylate) (35PDMPA)solutions were evaluated throughout the measurements of the flow times of toluene and polymer solutions by classical Huggins, and Kraemer’s me...The intrinsic viscosity [η] of poly(3,5-dimethylphenylacrylate) (35PDMPA)solutions were evaluated throughout the measurements of the flow times of toluene and polymer solutions by classical Huggins, and Kraemer’s methods using a Cannon-Ubbelohde semi-micro-dilution capillary viscometer in a Cannon thermostated water bath at 40℃ ± 0.02℃. The values of Huggins’ constant estimated ranged from 0.2 to 0.4 which were within expectations. The intrinsic viscosities and molecular weight relationship was established with the two-parameter classical models of Staudinger-Mark-Houwink-Sakurada and Stockmayer-Fixman. Conformational parameter C∞ and σ indicated 35PDMPA be semi flexible. Also, the rigidity of 35PDMPA was confirmed by Yamakawa-Fuji wormlike theory modified by Bohdanecky. The molecular parameters were estimated and compared. The results showed that 35PDMPA behaves like a semi-rigid polymer in toluene at 40℃ rather than a random coil flexible macromolecule.展开更多

S...To determine the possibility of blending 2, 3, 5-triiodobenzoic acid( TIBA) and poly( p-dioxanone)( PPDO) to produce X-ray visible PPDO filaments,melt-blended PPDO with different concentrations of TIBA was obtained. Several radiopaque filaments of PPDO polymer filled with radiopaque TIBA particles were prepared via melt-blending. Material properties of the composite filaments were investigated using various material characterization techniques,including scanning electron microscope( SEM),thermogravimetric analysis( TGA),X-ray Diffraction( XRD),dynamic rheometry and micro-CT scan. In this article,the dispersion of TIBA in PPDO,the properties of the filament,and the ratio of PPDO and TIBA and the corresponding X-ray visibility in vivo were studied. SEM results showed the dispersion of the contrast imaging agent TIBA was relatively even in the PPDO polymer. Xray analysis in vitro confirmed the enhanced radiopacity of the filaments with respect to the pure PPDO filament. The presence of iodine element in the composite filament could allow the bioabsorbable material to be monitored in vivo, and made it potential to be used in biomedical applications.展开更多

The 5 Fluorouracil was entrapped into poly(lactic acid)(PLA) nanoparticles using a water in oil in water solvent evaporation technique. During the preparation process, ethyl acetate and acetone were used as organic solvents since they are less toxic than the more commonly used dichloromethane. The effect of the three solvents on particle size, drug content, loading efficiency and yield of nanopartcles was compared. When the solvent of the oil phase was acetone, the highest drug content, smallest particle size and lowest yield were obtained for the PLA nanoparticles.展开更多

The conditions of the microspheres preparation such as polymer concentration in organic solvent, relative molecular weight of PLA-PEG and PLA/PEG mass ratio were discussed. The surface morphology and the size of the microspheres were observed by SEM. The drug content of microspheres was examined by TGA and the drug release in vitro was evaluated. According to the results, the drug content increased with the nano-silica used. The highest drug content in this study was 39.9%.
