The materials ca...We describe the sol-gel synthesis of a new family of organic-inorganic hybrid materials, in which various vinyl polymers are covalently bonded to and uniformly distributed in inorganic oxide matrices. The materials can be tailored to have both good toughness and hardness while maintaining excellent optical transparency. Doping the sol-gel metal oxides with optically active compounds such as D-glucose results in new optical rotatory composite materials. Removal of the dopant compounds from the composites affords mesoporous oxide materials; which represents a new, nonsurfactant-templated route to mesoporous molecular sieves. We have successfully immobilized a series of enzymes and other bioactive agents in mesoporous materials. Catalytical activities of the enzyme encapsulated in mesoporous materials were found to be much higher than those encapsulated in microporous materials.展开更多

Two different spray solutions were prepared to investigate the differences in the morphology and the reflectivity properties of cobalt blue particles. One was an aqueous solution, and the other was a polycation solution that was obtained by chemically modifying the aqueous solution with NH4OH. The cobalt blue particles prepared with the aqueous solution had an irregular morphology after heat treatment at 1000~C for 2 h. On the contrary, spherical and dense particles were obtained from the polycation solution. The spherical and dense cobalt blue particles showed remarkable improvement in reflectivity compared with that of irregular morphology particles as well as the commercial.展开更多

In this work, long-period waveguide grating-based tunable wavelength filters using organic–inorganic grafting poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) materials are designed and fabricated by metal-cladding directly defin...In this work, long-period waveguide grating-based tunable wavelength filters using organic–inorganic grafting poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) materials are designed and fabricated by metal-cladding directly defined technique.The thermal stabilities and optical properties of the organic–inorganic grafting PMMA core materials are analyzed. Structures and performance parameters of the waveguide gratings and self-electrode heaters are designed and simulated. The contrast of the filter is about 15 d B and the resonant wavelength can be tuned by different electric powers applied to the metal-cladding self-electrode heaters. The temperature sensitivity is 3.5 nm/℃ and the switching time is about 1 ms. The technique is very suitable for realizing the optoelectronic integrated wavelength-division-multiplexing systems.展开更多

The compounds (Gd 1- x Tb x ) 3Al 2 with x =0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0 3 exhibit a second order magnetic transition. Curie temperature varies from 255 K for x =0.3 to 280 K for x =0. The maximum of the isothermal magnetic entropy change Δ S increases by substituting Tb element for Gd element. Δ S max =18.9 kJ·m -3 ·K -1 for x =0.1 by changing the magnetic field from 0 to 1 T.展开更多
