To investigate the effects of intravesical therapy with elemene in preventing postoperative recurrence of superficial bladder cancer and its toxic and side effects.Methods This series included 123 patients with superf...To investigate the effects of intravesical therapy with elemene in preventing postoperative recurrence of superficial bladder cancer and its toxic and side effects.Methods This series included 123 patients with superficial bladder cancer (T1),consisting of transitional cell carcinoma GⅠ in 37 cases,GⅡ in 73 and GⅢ in 13.They all underwent surgical treatment.Postoperatively,they were randomly assigned to 2 groups;63 patients in elemene group received instillation of elemene (400 mg,once a week) 2 weeks after operation and 60 patients in mitomycin C (MMC) group received instillation of MMC (40 mg,once a week) 2 weeks after operation.The instillations were repeated for 6 weeks and thereafter monthly for 1 year.The recurrence rates,side effects,and NK cell activity before and after treatment were evaluated.Results The recurrence rate of elemene group (mean follow-up of 19.7 months) was 7.9% (5 cases),which was significantly lower than that (25.0%,15 cases) of MMC group (mean follow-up of 19.4 months;P<0.05).The side effect in elemene group (3.2%,2 cases) was significantly milder than that in MMC group (25.0%,15 cases)(P<0.05).In elemene group,the NK cell activity after treatment (28±2)% was significantly higher than that before treatment(20±2)%(P<0.05).Conclusion Instillation of elemene after operation is effective and safe in preventing postoperative recurrence of bladder cancer.8 refs.展开更多

An ideal strategy for integrated melanoma treatment involves the pursuit of multifunctional biomaterials that possess adjuvant therapy functions,enabling full-scale postoperative relapse prevention,wound healing,and r...An ideal strategy for integrated melanoma treatment involves the pursuit of multifunctional biomaterials that possess adjuvant therapy functions,enabling full-scale postoperative relapse prevention,wound healing,and real-time postoperative surveillance.The simulation of electronic skin(e-skin),which emulates the mechanical properties and functions of natural skin,holds significant potential for broad biomedical applications.Herein,a novel multi-responsive controlled-release e-skin(PADM-MX-Ag-Si@Dox)was developed using natural porcine dermal matrix,MXene nanosheets,silver nanowires(AgNWs),and mesoporous hollow silica microspheres(TSOHSiO_(2)@Dox)for drug-loading.The resulting e-skin exhibited temperature-,pH-,and electric-responsiveness due to the incorporation of TSOHSiO_(2)@Dox microspheres,which allowed for on-demand controlled-release of Dox.The biomimetic structure of porcine acellular dermal matrix(PADM)can significantly accelerate the wound healing process under the synergistic effect of electrical stimulation(ES).PADM-MX-Ag-Si@Dox has demonstrated remarkable antimicrobial and electrophysiological activities,thereby establishing a robust basis for enhancing wound healing and facilitating real-time postoperative tumor surveillance.Extensive in vitro and in vivo investigations have substantiated that the combined utilization of PADM-MX-Ag-Si@Dox and ES results in a proactive amalgamation of melanoma postoperative relapse prevention,wound healing,and real-time postoperative surveillance,thereby establishing a potent therapeutic approach for postoperative cancer adjuvant therapy and paving the way for novel precision medical care.展开更多

Methods: A total of 40 cases of postoperative hemiplegia patients were randomly and evenly divided into treatment group and control group that were respectively treated with acupuncture plus conventional therapy (anti-inflammation, intracranial pressure-lowering and alimentotherapy) and conventional therapy. Results: After treatment, the therapeutic effect for raising myodynamia of the paralyzed limbs in treatment group was significantly superior to that of control group (upper limb P<0.01, and lower limb P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture can effectively facilitate the recovery of the paralyzed limb in patients undergoing cerebral surgical operation.展开更多

BACKGROUND Endometrial cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed gynecological cancers worldwide,and early-stage high-risk endometrial cancer has a poor prognosis.Adjuvant treatments after surgery,such as chemother...BACKGROUND Endometrial cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed gynecological cancers worldwide,and early-stage high-risk endometrial cancer has a poor prognosis.Adjuvant treatments after surgery,such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy,have been widely used in clinical practice to improve patient survival.Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a synthetic progestogen that has been reported to have potential anticancer effects in endometrial cancer.However,its efficacy,safety,and longterm prognostic benefits as an adjuvant treatment for endometrial cancer remain controversial.Therefore,this study aimed to observe the efficacy and prognostic impact of adjuvant medroxyprogesterone acetate treatment in patients with earlystage high-risk endometrial cancer and evaluate its safety.AIM To observe the efficacy and prognosis of adjuvant treatment of endometrial cancer with medroxyprogesterone acetate and to evaluate its safety.METHODS We collected the clinical data of 200 patients with early-stage high-risk endometrial cancer who were admitted to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of our hospital from January 2018 to December 2022.The control group(100 patients)underwent conventional surgical treatment,and the study group(100 patients)was administered adjuvant medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets on top of the control group.The Kaplan-Meier curve analysis and log-rank test were performed to determine the possible factors influencing the 5-year cumulative survival rate in the patients.The Cox regression analysis was performed to identify the factors influencing the survival prognosis of endometrial cancer.RESULTS According to the Cox regression analysis,age[hazard ratio(HR)=4.636,95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.411-15.237],pathological type(HR=6.943,95%CI:2.299-20.977),molecular typing(HR=5.789,95%CI:3.305-10.141),and myometrial infiltration(HR=5.768,95%CI:1.898-17.520)were factors influencing the prognosis of patients with early-stage high-risk endometrial cancer.CONCLUSION Age,pathological type,molecular typing,and myometrial infiltration were all relevant factors affecting the prognosis of early-stage high-risk endometrial cancer.The potential long-term prognostic benefit of adjuvant postoperative radiotherapy in patients with early-stage high-risk endometrial cancer is worthy of clinical consideration.展开更多
