The method is based on the primary idea that pavement roughness is denoted as the sum of numerous sines or cosines with stochastic phases, and uses the discrete spectrum to approach the target stochastic process. It is a discrete numerical method used to simulate pavement roughness. According to a given pavement power spectral density (PSD) coefficient, under the condition that the character of displacement frequency based on the time domain model is in accordance with the given pavement surface spectrum, the pavement roughness is optimized to stochastic equivalent vibrations by computer simulation, and the curves that describe pavement roughness under each grade are obtained. The results show that the stochastic sinusoidal wave is suitable for simulation of measured pavement surface spectra based on the time domain model. The method of the stochastic sinusoidal wave is important to the research on vehicle ride comfort due to its rigorous mathematical derivation, extensive application range and intuitive simulation curve. Finally, a roughness index defined as the nominal roughness index (NRI) is introduced, and it has correlation with the PSD coefficient.展开更多

Cortical EEG (electroencephalogram) and the concentration of hippocampal Glutamate (Glu) were monitored simultaneously in vivo as indicators of rat’s excitatory state. Power spectral density (PSD) and gravity frequency of PSD were calculated. JuA (0.05 g/L and 0.1 g/L) inhibited the EEG excitation effect caused by Na-PCN by increasing the power of δ1 and δ2 bands (P<0.01 vs model) and lowering the gravity frequency of PSD (P<0.01 vs model). JuA also remarkably reduced the Glu elevation induced by Na-PCN (P<0.05 vs model). Diazepam also depressed Glu concentration and lowered the gravity frequency, but it showed a different EEG pattern in increased β2-activity (P<0.01 vs model). EEG excitation caused by Na-PCN correlated with Glu elevation during the first hour. Neurophysiological inhibitory effects of JuA and diazepam were more persistent than their Glu inhibitoty effects.展开更多

This model employs upper and lower bounds instead of precise probability distributions to quantify uncertainty in a parameter at any given time point. It is anticipated to complement the conventional stochastic process model in the coming years owing to its relatively low dependence on experimental samples and ease of understanding for engineers. Building on our previous work, this paper proposes a spectrum analysis method to describe the frequency domain characteristics of an interval process, further strengthening the theoretical foundation of the interval process model and enhancing its applicability for complex engineering problems. In this approach, we first define the zero midpoint function interval process and its auto/cross-power spectral density(PSD) functions. We also deduce the relationship between the auto-PSD function and the auto-covariance function of the stationary zero midpoint function interval process. Next, the auto/cross-PSD function matrices of a general interval process are defined, followed by the introduction of the concepts of PSD function matrix and cross-PSD function matrix for interval process vectors. The spectrum analysis method is then applied to random vibration problems, leading to the creation of a spectrum-analysis-based interval vibration analysis method that determines the PSD function for the system displacement response under stationary interval process excitations. Finally, the effectiveness of the formulated spectrum-analysis-based interval vibration analysis approach is verified through two numerical examples.展开更多

It is necessary to use BHM information efficiently to assess the working conditions of the bridge. The main objective of this study is to develop an effective method and establish a framework for the real-time reliability assessment based on BHM acceleration information. The first-passage probability and its further development have been proposed to as- sess the reliability probability. The first-passage probability shows the probability of that a scalar process exceeds a designated threshold during a given time interval. The advantage of the proposed method is the assessment of the real-time reliability probability based on the monitoring information during an assessment reference period. Furthermore, the velocity data and displacement data are calculated from the acceleration monitoring data using the relationships between their power spectral density (PSD) functions. The real-time reliability assessment of Donghai Bridge, which is the first large scale cross-sea bridge in China, demonstrates that the proposed method is efficient and effective.展开更多
