This paper reports the relationships between microscopic defects of Q345 steel plate under the explosive load and its macroscopic dynamics simulation. Firstly, the defect characteristics of the steel plate were investigated by stereoscopic microscope(SM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). At the macroscopic level, the defect was the formation of cave which was concentrated in the range of 0-3.0 cm from the explosion center, while at the microscopic level, the cavity and void formation were the typical damage characteristics. It also explains that the difference in defect morphology at different positions was the combining results of high temperature and high pressure. Secondly, the variation rules of mechanical properties of steel plate under explosive load were studied. The Arbitrary Lagrange-Euler(ALE) algorithm and multi-material fluid-structure coupling method were used to simulate the explosion process of steel plate. The accuracy of the method was verified by comparing the deformation of the simulation results with the experimental results, the pressure and stress at different positions on the surface of the steel plate were obtained. The simulation results indicated that the critical pressure causing the plate defects may be approximately 2.01 GPa. On this basis, it was found that the variation rules of surface pressure and microscopic defect area of the Q345 steel plate were strikingly similar, and the corresponding mathematical relationship between them was established. Compared with Monomolecular growth fitting models(MGFM) and Logistic fitting models(LFM), the relationship can be better expressed by cubic polynomial fitting model(CPFM). This paper illustrated that the explosive defect characteristics of metal plate at the microscopic level can be explored by analyzing its macroscopic dynamic mechanical response.展开更多

This paper presents an in situ measurement of the dynamic load distribution in the four rows of two axlebox bearings on a bogie wheelset of a high-speed train under polygonal wheel–rail excitation. The measurement employed an improved strain-based method to measure the dynamic radial load distribution of roller bearings. The four rows of two axlebox bearings on a wheelset exhibited different ranges of loaded zones and different means of distributed loads. Besides, the mean value and standard deviation of measured roller–raceway contact loads showed non-monotonic variations with the frequency of wheel–rail excitation. The fatigue life of the four bearing rows under polygonal wheel–rail excitation was quantitatively predicted by compiling the measured roller–raceway contact load spectra of the most loaded position and considering the load spectra as input.展开更多

In this paper, the role of discontinuities around tunnels in rockburst occurrence was studied. For this purpose, the Abaqus explicit code was used to simulate dynamic rock failure in deep tunnels. Material heterogeneity was considered using Python scripting in Abaqus. Rockbursts near fault regions in deep tunnels under static and dynamic loads were studied.Several tunnel models with and without faults were built and static and dynamic loads were used to simulate rock failure. The velocity and the released kinetic energy of failed rocks, the failure zone around the tunnel, and the deformed mesh were studied to identify stable and unstable rock failures. Compared with models without discontinuities, the results showed that the velocity and the released kinetic energy of failed rocks were higher, the failure zone around the tunnel was larger, and the mesh was more deformed in the models with discontinuities, indicating that rock failure in the models with discontinuities was more violent. The modeling results confirm that the presence of geological structures in the vicinity of deep excavations could be one of the major influence factors for the occurrence of rockburst. It can explain localized rockburst occurrence in civil tunnels and mining drifts. The presented methodology in this paper for rockburst analysis can be useful for rockburst anticipation and control during mining and tunneling in highly stressed ground.展开更多

A buffer pad between the striker bar and the incident bar of an SHPB apparatus is used to absorb some of the shock energy. This can generate loading rates of 20.2-4627.3 GPa/s, enabling dynamic peak stresses/strengths and associated failure patterns of the specimens to be investigated. The effects of the loading rate and angle of load applied on the dynamic peak stresses/strengths of the specimens are examined. Relevant experimental results demonstrate that the failure pattern of each specimen can be classified as four types: Type A, integrated with or without tiny flake-off; Type B, slide failure; Type C, fracture failure; and Type D, crushing failure. The dynamic peak stresses/strengths of the specimens that have similar failure patterns increase linearly with the loading rate, yielding high correlations that are evident on semi-logarithmic plots. The slope of the failure envelope is the smallest for slide failure, followed by crushing failure, and that of fracture failure is the largest. The magnitude of the plot slope of the dynamic peak stress against the loading rate for the specimens that are still integrated after testing is between that of slide failure and crushing failure. The angle of application has a limited effect on the dynamic peak stresses/strengths of the specimens regardless of the failure pattern, but it affects the bounds of the loading rates that yield each failure pattern, and thus influences the dynamic responses of the single jointed specimen. Slide failure occurs at the lowest loading rate of any failure, but can only occur in single jointed specimen that allows sliding.Crushing failure is typically associated with the largest loading rate, and fracture failure may occur when the loading rate is between the boundaries for slide failure and crushing failure.展开更多

文摘A complete road-soft ground model is established in this paper to study the dynamic responses caused by vehicle loads and/or daily temperature variation.A dynamic thermo-elastic model is applied to capturing the behavior of the rigid pavement, the base course, and the subgrade, while the soft ground is characterized using a dynamic thermo-poroelastic model.Solutions to the road-soft ground system are derived in the Laplace-Hankel transform domain. The time domain solutions are obtained using an integration approach. The temperature, thermal stress, pore water pressure, and displacement responses caused by the vehicle load and the daily temperature variation are presented. Results show that obvious temperature change mainly exists within 0.3 m of the road when subjected to the daily temperature variation, whereas the stress responses can still be found in deeper places because of the thermal swelling/shrinkage deformation within the upper road structures. Moreover,it is important to consider the coupling effects of the vehicle load and the daily temperature variation when calculating the dynamic responses inside the road-soft ground system.

文摘As the protective component, steel plate had attracted extensive attention because of frequently threats of explosive loads. In this paper, the evolution of microstructure and the mechanism of damage in the quasi-cracking area of steel plate subjected to explosive load were discussed and the relationships between micro defects and dynamic mechanical response were revealed. After the explosion experiment, five observation points were selected equidistant from the quasi-cracking area of the section of the steel plate along the thickness direction, and the characteristics of micro defects at the observation points were analyzed by optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM) and electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD).The observation result shows that many slip bands(SBs) appeared, and the grain orientation changed obviously in the steel plate, the two were the main damage types of micro defects. In addition, cracks, peeling pits, grooves and other lager micro defects were appeared in the lower area of the plate. The stress parameters of the observation points were obtained through an effective numerical model. The mechanism of damage generation and crack propagation in the quasicracking area were clarified by comparing the specific impulse of each observation point with the corresponding micro defects. The result shows that the generation and expansion of micro defects are related to the stress area(i.e.the upper compression area, the neutral plane area, and the lower tension area). The micro defects gather and expand at the grain boundary, and will become macroscopic damage under the continuous action of tensile stress.Besides, the micro defects at the midpoint of the section of the steel plate in the direction away from the explosion center(i.e.the horizontal direction) were also studied. It was found that the specific impulse at these positions were much smaller than that in the thickness direction, the micro defects were only SBs and a few micro cracks, and the those decreased with the increase of the distance from the explosion center.

文摘Expanded polystyrene(EPS)particle-based lightweight soil, which is a type of lightweight filler,is mainly used in road engineering. The stability of subgrades under dynamic loading is attracting increased research attention. The traditional method for studying the dynamic strength characteristics of soils is dynamic triaxial testing, and the discrete element simulation of lightweight soils under cyclic load has rarely been considered. To study the meso-mechanisms of the dynamic failure processes of EPS particle lightweight soils,a discrete element numerical model is established using the particle flow code(PFC)software. The contact force, displacement field, and velocity field of lightweight soil under different cumulative compressive strains are studied. The results show that the hysteresis curves of lightweight soil present characteristics of strain accumulation, which reflect the cyclic effects of the dynamic load. When the confining pressure increases, the contact force of the particles also increases. The confining pressure can restrain the motion of the particle system and increase the dynamic strength of the sample. When the confining pressure is held constant,an increase in compressive strain causes minimal change in the contact force between soil particles. However, the contact force between the EPS particles decreases, and their displacement direction points vertically toward the center of the sample.Under an increase in compressive strain, the velocity direction of the particle system changes from a random distribution and points vertically toward the center of the sample. When the compressive strain is 5%,the number of particles deflected in the particle velocity direction increases significantly, and the cumulative rate of deformation in the lightweight soil accelerates. Therefore,it is feasible to use 5%compressive strain as the dynamic strength standard for lightweight soil.Discrete element methods provide a new approach toward the dynamic performance evaluation of lightweight soil subgrades.

文摘Automation advancements prompts the extensive integration of collaborative robot(cobot)across a range of industries.Compared to the commonly used design approach of increasing the payload-to-weight ratio of cobot to enhance load capacity, equal attention should be paid to the dynamic response characteristics of cobot during the design process to make the cobot more flexible. In this paper,a new method for designing the drive train parameters of cobot is proposed.Firstly, based on the analysis of factors influencing the load capacity and dynamic response characteristics, design criteria for both aspects are established for cobot with all optimization design criteria normalized within the design domain.Secondly, with the cobot in the horizontal pose, the motor design scheme is discretized and it takes the joint motor diameter and gearbox speed ratio as optimization design variables. Finally, all the discrete values of the optimization objectives are obtained through the enumeration method and the Pareto front is used to select the optimal solution through multi-objective optimization.Base on the cobot design method proposed in this paper,a six-axis cobot is designed and compared with the commercial cobot. The result shows that the load capacity of the designed cobot in this paper reaches 8.4 kg,surpassing the 5 kg load capacity commercial cobot which is used as a benchmark. The minimum resonance frequency of the joints is 42.70 Hz.

文摘As the basic protective element, steel plate had attracted world-wide attention because of frequent threats of explosive loads. This paper illustrated that the explosive defect characteristics of metal plate at the microscopic level can be explored by analyzing its macroscopic dynamic mechanical response.

文摘Owing to the integration of energy digitization and artificial intelligence technology, smart energy grids can realize the stable, efficient and clean operation of power systems. However, the emergence of cyber-physical attacks, such as dynamic load-altering attacks(DLAAs)has introduced great challenges to the security of smart energy grids. Thus, this study developed a novel cyber-physical collaborative security framework for DLAAs in smart energy grids. The proposed framework integrates attack prediction in the cyber layer with the detection and localization of attacks in the physical layer.First,a data-driven method was proposed to predict the DLAA sequence in the cyber layer.By designing a double radial basis function network, the influence of disturbances on attack prediction can be eliminated.Based on the prediction results,an unknown input observer-based detection and localization method was further developed for the physical layer. In addition,an adaptive threshold was designed to replace the traditional precomputed threshold and improve the detection performance of the DLAAs.Consequently, through the collaborative work of the cyber-physics layer, injected DLAAs were effectively detected and located.Compared with existing methodologies, the simulation results on IEEE 14-bus and 118-bus power systems verified the superiority of the proposed cyber-physical collaborative detection and localization against DLAAs.

文摘For expedited transportation, vehicular tunnels are often designed as two adjacent tunnels, which frequently experience dynamic stress waves from various orientations during blasting excavation. To analyze the impact of dynamic loading orientation on the stability of the twin-tunnel,a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)apparatus was used to conduct a dynamic test on the twin-tunnel specimens. The two tunnels were rotated around the specimen’s center to consider the effect of dynamic loading orientation.LS-DYNA software was used for numerical simulation to reveal the failure properties and stress wave propagation law of the twin-tunnel specimens. The findings indicate that, for a twin-tunnel exposed to a dynamic load from different orientations, the crack initiation position appears most often at the tunnel corner, tunnel spandrel, and tunnel floor. As the impact direction is created by a certain angle(30°,45°,60°,120°,135°,and 150°),the fractures are produced in the middle of the line between the left tunnel corner and the right tunnel spandrel. As the impact loading angle(a)is 90°,the tunnel sustains minimal damage, and only tensile fractures form in the surrounding rocks. The orientation of the impact load could change the stress distribution in the twin-tunnel,and major fractures are more likely to form in areas where the tensile stress is concentrated.

文摘The dynamic load distribution within in-service axlebox bearings of high-speed trains is crucial for the fatigue reliability assessment and forward design of axlebox bearings. The fatigue life of the four bearing rows under polygonal wheel–rail excitation was quantitatively predicted by compiling the measured roller–raceway contact load spectra of the most loaded position and considering the load spectra as input.

文摘Considering the widening of the peak-valley difference in the power grid and the difficulty of the existing fixed time-of-use electricity price mechanism in meeting the energy demand of heterogeneous users at various moments or motivating users, the design of a reasonable dynamic pricing mechanism to actively engage users in demand response becomes imperative for power grid companies. For this purpose,a power grid-flexible load bilevel model is constructed based on dynamic pricing, where the leader is the dispatching center and the lower-level flexible load acts as the follower.Initially,an upper-level day-ahead dispatching model for the power grid is established, considering the lowest power grid dispatching cost as the objective function and incorporating the power grid-side constraints. Then, the lower level comprehensively considers the load characteristics of industrial load, energy storage, and data centers, and then establishes a lower-level flexible load operation model with the lowest user power-consuming cost as the objective function. Finally, the proposed method is validated using the IEEE-118 system, and the findings indicate that the dynamic pricing mechanism for peaking shaving and valley filling can effectively guide users to respond actively, thereby reducing the peak-valley difference and decreasing users’purchasing costs.
文摘Cloud Computing has the ability to provide on-demand access to a shared resource pool.It has completely changed the way businesses are managed, implement applications, and provide services. The rise in popularity has led to a significant increase in the user demand for services. However,in cloud environments efficient load balancing is essential to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization. This systematic review targets a detailed description of load balancing techniques including static and dynamic load balancing algorithms.Specifically,metaheuristic-based dynamic load balancing algorithms are identified as the optimal solution in case of increased traffic. In a cloud-based context, this paper describes load balancing measurements, including the benefits and drawbacks associated with the selected load balancing techniques. It also summarizes the algorithms based on implementation, time complexity, adaptability, associated issue(s),and targeted QoS parameters.Additionally, the analysis evaluates the tools and instruments utilized in each investigated study. Moreover, comparative analysis among static, traditional dynamic and metaheuristic algorithms based on response time by using the CloudSim simulation tool is also performed. Finally, the key open problems and potential directions for the state-of-the-art metaheuristic-based approaches are also addressed.

文摘The presence of geological structures such as faults, joints, and dykes has been observed near excavation boundaries in many rockburst case histories. The presented methodology in this paper for rockburst analysis can be useful for rockburst anticipation and control during mining and tunneling in highly stressed ground.

文摘Rock drilling machine,INSTRON testing system, and SHPB device are updated to investigate the characteristics of rocks at great depth, with high loads from overburden, tectonic stresses and dynamic impacts due to blasting and boring. It is verified that these testing systems can be used to study the mechanical properties of rock material under coupled static and dynamic loading condition and give useful guidance for the deep mining and underground cavern excavation.Various tests to determine the rock strength, fragmentation behavior, and energy absorption were conducted using the updated testing systems. It is shown that under coupled static-dynamic loads,if the axial prestress is lower than its elastic limit, the rock strength is higher than the individual static or dynamic strength. At the same axial prestress, rock strength under coupled loads rises with the increasing strain rates.Under coupled static and dynamic loads, rock is observed to fail with tensile mode. While shear failure may exist if axial prestress is high enough. In addition,it is shown that the percentage of small particles increases with the increasing axial prestress and impact load based on the analysis of the particle-size distribution of fragments. It is also suggested that the energy absorption ratio of a specimen varies with coupled loads, and the maximum energy absorption ratio for a rock can be obtained with an appropriate combination of static and dynamic loads.

文摘Intact rock-like specimens and specimens that include a single, smooth planar joint at various angles are prepared for split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB) testing. Slide failure occurs at the lowest loading rate of any failure, but can only occur in single jointed specimen that allows sliding.Crushing failure is typically associated with the largest loading rate, and fracture failure may occur when the loading rate is between the boundaries for slide failure and crushing failure.
