Teaching Reform and Practice of “Mathematical Analysis” under the New Engineering Education Paradigm

With the advent and promotion of the new engineering education paradigm,university mathematics courses face new challenges and opportunities.As a fundamental course for engineering majors,the reform of“Mathematical Analysis”is particularly crucial.This paper explores the necessity,specific practices,and outcomes of teaching reform in“Mathematical Analysis”within the context of the new engineering education.By reforming teaching content,methods,and assessment approaches,this study aims to enhance students’mathematical literacy and comprehensive abilities to meet the demands of the new engineering education development.

Investigation on the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Oral Health among Medical College and University Undergraduate

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the status of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of oral health among medical undergraduate students, and provide reference for implementing oral health interventions. Methods: A total of 528 undergraduate students enrolled in Fuzhou Medical College from February 2023 to September 2023 were selected as the research subjects. Their oral health KAP were investigated, and the oral health behavior habits of different types of medical students were compared, and possible influencing factors were analyzed. Results: The total awareness rate of oral health knowledge among medical students is 77.0%, with an average score of 3.85 ± 1.16 points. The overall positive rate of oral health attitudes among medical students is 80.0%, with an average score of 3.19 ± 0.72 points. The total qualified rate of oral health behavior is 65.9%, with an average score of 4.61 ± 1.23 points. The scores of oral health knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors among medical students are related to gender, major, smoking status, and oral health status. The frequency of brushing teeth in the female group was higher than that in the male group, while the habit of brushing teeth before bedtime and the frequency of timely replacement of toothbrushes when deformed were lower, with statistical significance (p 0.05). The frequency of timely replacement of toothbrushes varies among medical students from different majors, and the difference is statistically significant (p 0.05). People who have a habit of eating hot and cold food have a higher frequency of brushing their teeth every day, and the difference is statistically significant (p 0.05). Non smokers have a better habit of brushing their teeth before bedtime and a higher frequency of timely replacement when their toothbrush deforms, with a statistically significant difference (p 0.05). The frequency of using fluoride toothpaste or medicated toothpaste, having a habit of unilateral chewing, and timely replacement of toothbrushes when deformed in patients with existing oral problems is higher than that of those without oral problems, and the difference is statistically significant (p 0.05). Conclusion: The knowledge, attitude, and behavior of oral health among medical students in this school are above average. Students with different genders, dietary and smoking habits, and oral health status have different oral health behavioral habits. It is recommended to include oral health education in mandatory courses for various medical majors.

Anthropogenic influence on the extreme drought in eastern China in 2022 and its future risk

2022年夏季中国东部地区遭遇了一次持续性极端高温干旱事件.本文利用CMIP6检测归因比较计划(DAMIP)数据,量化了人为强迫对类2022年极端干旱事件发生概率的影响,并基于未来不同增暖情景试验给出了此类极端干旱事件的未来变化预估.通过分析不同外强迫因子作用下此类极端干旱事件的发生概率变化,发现人为强迫使此类极端干旱事件的发生概率提高约56%,这主要与人为强迫下中国东部平均水汽减少和平均上升运动减弱有关.进一步通过分析此类极端干旱事件对不同温室气体排放情景(SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,SSP5-8.5)的响应,发现在低排放情景下类2022年极端干旱事件的发生概率较当今气候显著下降,这主要与中国东部平均水汽的增加和平均环流的变化有关,而在高排放情景(SSP5-8.5)下,此类极端干旱事件的发生概率较当今气候增加约79%,这主要与高排放情景下平均下沉运动增强有关.该研究表明,人为强迫通过调制气候平均背景场从而引起极端事件发生频次的变化是人类活动影响极端气候事件的重要途径之一,极端干旱事件对温室气体排放量的响应可能是非线性的.

The Role of Secondary School Teacher Training in Their Teaching Practices-A Secondary Publication

This work aims to analyze the effect exerted by the initial and continuous training of secondary school teachers in France on their teaching practices.For this,we carried out a secondary analysis of data from the TALIS survey(Teaching and Learning International Survey),conducted in 2013 in 34 countries,including France.In particular,we focus on practices related to the teaching methods used,classroom management,how to communicate,and the evaluative practices of teachers.In support of binary logistic regression models,we showed that the variables related to initial training play a weak role,and even exert a negative effect on certain pedagogic practices,leading to a reflection on the renovation of this training.On the other hand,our analyses highlighted the greater weight played by certain continuing education actions.

Energy Theft Detection in Smart Grids:Taxonomy,Comparative Analysis,Challenges,and Future Research Directions

Electricity theft is one of the major issues in developing countries which is affecting their economy badly.Especially with the introduction of emerging technologies,this issue became more complicated.Though many new energy theft detection(ETD)techniques have been proposed by utilising different data mining(DM)techniques,state&network(S&N)based techniques,and game theory(GT)techniques.Here,a detailed survey is presented where many state-of-the-art ETD techniques are studied and analysed for their strengths and limitations.Three levels of taxonomy are presented to classify state-of-the-art ETD techniques.Different types and ways of energy theft and their consequences are studied and summarised and different parameters to benchmark the performance of proposed techniques are extracted from literature.The challenges of different ETD techniques and their mitigation are suggested for future work.It is observed that the literature on ETD lacks knowledge management techniques that can be more effective,not only for ETD but also for theft tracking.This can help in the prevention of energy theft,in the future,as well as for ETD.

Practice Analysis on the Teaching Theory and Skills of English Translation

As a universal language, English makes a better communication between China and the developed countries;English language teaching has become increasingly important in more and more Chinese Schools. At the beginning, when Chinese students start to learn a second language, they need to translate the second language such as English into Chinese in the first hand, and this procedure will help them to understand and learn English better. For English language translation teachers, they need to research and create the suitable, effective method of learning English translation for most students constantly in order to improve the English translation learning efficiency of the Chinese students. The local culture of China is quite different from the culture of other English speaking countries. When our Chinese students study English language translation, at the same time, they need to learn the different culture in different countries and learn how to accept and face up the cultural background difference between our country and the other English speaking countries. In the meantime, during the time of teaching English translation, the English translation subject teachers need to guide the students to learn and understand the difference in practice, and help them to establish a comprehensive and correct idea of learning English translation through teaching correct and different translation skills.

Analysis on the Independent Extracurricular Practice of Students in the Specialized Dance Sport--Shenyang Sport University is Taken for Example

In this paper, the independent extracurricular practice of the students in the specialized dance sport in Shenyang Sport University is analyzed and studied, and the influencing factors and problems of the students＇ independent extracurricular practice in the specialized dance sport are further analyzed based on knowing well the current independent extracurricular practice of the students in the specialized dance sport in Shenyang Sport University, and then the corresponding countermeasures are proposed according to the existing problems. Thus, a theoretical foundation is provided for the future development and continuously deepened physical education reform of the specialized dance sport in physical education institutes.

Analysis and Practice of ＂Idea, Team, and Evaluation＂ in the Educational Reform of Higher Vocational Colleges

In order to meet the actual needs of higher vocational colleges＇ art and design program on the refbrm of specialized courses, the change from assignments to art works and the concept of art products is proposed in this paper, so as to enhance the standards of art products from time, satisfaction, and originality. Then, the idea of ＂synchronously training personal ability with the spirit of team work＂ is introduced. Also, the key points in the practice of course evaluation organization and management are mainly expounded through the applicableness of evaluation types, the standard of the evaluation process, and the diversity of evaluation and rewards forms.

Practice analysis of junior doctors in Ethiopia:implications for strengthening medical education,practice and regulation

Background:A high performing physician workforce is critical to attain nationally set health sector goals.Ethiopia has expanded training of medical doctors.However,little is known about junior doctors’performance.Understanding medical practice is essential to inform medical education and practice,establish licensure examination and guide workforce management decisions.We conducted a practice analysis study to identify gaps in Ethiopian medical education and practice,and to determine composition of subjects in national licensing examination.Methods:We conducted a cross-sectional study with national representative sample of junior doctors.After calculating a sample size of 198,we used a two-stage stratified cluster sampling method to select study participants.We collected data using a structured questionnaire comprising 222 tasks.Study participants reported in interviews on frequency of,competence at,and importance of doing each task for improved health outcome.We developed proportions,averages,graphs and tables.Using the results of practice analysis and experts’ratings,relative weights of subjects in the national licensing examination for medical undergraduates were determined.Results:A total of 191 junior doctors participated.Most were males(74.6%)and had less than 2 years of experience(69.8%).Junior doctors frequently performed tasks of internal medicine and pediatrics.Their participation in obstetrics and gynecology,ophthalmology,psychiatry and dentistry services was infrequent.Junior doctors had competency gaps to conduct clinical procedures,research and health programming tasks.Practice analysis results and expert ratings generated comparable recommendations for composition of a national licensing examination,with more than threequarters of the items focusing on internal medicine,pediatrics,surgery,obstetrics and gynecology,and public health.Conclusion:Junior doctors in Ethiopia rarely managed psychiatry,ophthalmology and dental patients.They had competence gaps in clinical procedures,research and health programming skills.The findings have implications for establishing licensing examination,and reviewing curriculum,continuing professional development,placement and rotation policy,and distribution of responsibilities.

Schisming as an Interactional Resource for Learning at the Frontiers of Work and Vocational Training-A Secondary Publication

This paper examines the sorts of interactional competencies and institutional demands required from students as they engage in complex forms of participation combining work and training purposes.It focuses on a series of empirical cases,recorded through video data and analyzed from a conversation analytic perspective,in which mentors make the decision to intervene during work sessions moderated by students.Such interventions do not interrupt the student’s activity and lead to the emergence of two distinct but not impermeable interactional spaces.This complex participation framework,known as“schisming,”contributes to overcoming practical issues within multiparty settings.Our study shows how schisming constitutes a particular sequential phenomenon where participants reorganize the interaction and co-construct a social and cognitive interactional space,thus enabling a shared understanding of the specific training context.Empirical data from the practical training of medical radiographers are used to illustrate how schisming may contribute to learning in the conditions of guided practice.

Impacts of future climate change(2030-2059)on debris flow hazard:A case study in the Upper Minjiang River basin,China

An increase in extreme precipitation events due to future climate change will have a decisive influence on the formation of debris flows in earthquake-stricken areas. This paper aimed to describe the possible impacts of future climate change on debris flow hazards in the Upper Minjiang River basin in Northwest Sichuan of China, which was severely affected by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. The study area was divided into 1285 catchments, which were used as the basic assessment units for debris flow hazards. Based on the current understanding of the causes of debris flows, a binary logistic regression model was used to screen key factors based on local geologic, geomorphologic, soil,vegetation, and meteorological and climatic conditions. We used the weighted summation method to obtain a composite index for debris flow hazards, based on two weight allocation methods: Relative Degree Analysis and rough set theory. Our results showed that the assessment model using the rough set theory resulted in better accuracy. According to the bias corrected and downscaled daily climate model data, future annual precipitation(2030-2059) in the study area are expected to decrease, with an increasing number of heavy rainfall events. Under future climate change, areas with a high-level of debris flow hazard will be even more dangerous, and 5.9% more of the study area was categorized as having a high-level hazard. Future climate change will cause an increase in debris flow hazard levels for 128 catchments, accounting for 10.5% of the total area. In the coming few decades, attention should be paid not only to traditional areas with high-level of debris flow hazards, but also to those areas with an increased hazard level to improve their resilience to debris flow disasters.

Study on spillover effect of copper futures between LME and SHFE using wavelet multiresolution analysis

Research on information spillover effects between financial markets remains active in the economic community. A Granger-type model has recently been used to investigate the spillover between London Metal Exchange(LME) and Shanghai Futures Exchange(SHFE) ,however,possible correlation between the future price and return on different time scales have been ignored. In this paper,wavelet multiresolution decomposition is used to investigate the spillover effects of copper future returns between the two markets. The daily return time series are decomposed on 2n(n=1,…,6) frequency bands through wavelet mul-tiresolution analysis. The correlation between the two markets is studied with decomposed data. It is shown that high frequency detail components represent much more energy than low-frequency smooth components. The relation between copper future daily returns in LME and that in SHFE are different on different time scales. The fluctuations of the copper future daily returns in LME have large effect on that in SHFE in 32-day scale,but small effect in high frequency scales. It also has evidence that strong effects exist between LME and SHFE for monthly responses of the copper futures but not for daily responses.

Questions of Theory and Practice: To Synthesis, Analysis and Evaluation Natural Systems of Pacific Russia Based on Models of Landscape Geosystems

The results of long-term author’s scientific research in the field of geological and geographical study and landscape mapping of large regional links, such as Sikhote-Alinsky, Sakhalinsky, Kamchatsky, Anadyrsky, located in the Pacific landscape belt of Russia, are considered (Starozhilov, 2013). The studies were conducted at the medium scale (1:500,000) and were accompanied by landscape mapping (Starozhilov, 2016). The proposed article discusses the theory and practice of the overall results and the strategic vision of applying the landscape approach with selected examples. The wide range of possibilities of applying the landscape approach in studying the interaction of nature and society is emphasized. The importance and the indisputable need for the synthesis, analysis and assessment of natural systems based on the mapping of landscape geosystems to assess the environmental management of not only regional territories, but also of Pacific Russia as a whole are noted.

Cost-benefit analysis of trading strategies in the stock index futures market

With the introduction of many derivatives into the capital market,including stock index futures,the trading strategies in financial markets have been gradually enriched.However,there is still no theoretical model that can determine whether these strategies are effective,what the risks are,and how costly the strategies are.We built an agent-based cross-market platform that includes five stocks and one stock index future,and constructed an evaluation system for stock index futures trading strategies.The evaluation system includes four dimensions:effectiveness,risk,occupation of capital,and impact cost.The results show that the informed strategy performs well in all aspects.The risk of the technical strategy is relatively higher than that of the other strategies.Moreover,occupation of capital and impact cost are both higher for the arbitrage strategy.Finally,the wealth of noise traders is almost lost.
