Nonlinear finite element models of SCBs were establish...A method is developed to predict the lateral load-carrying capacity of composite shear walls with double steel plates and filled concrete with binding bars(SCBs). Nonlinear finite element models of SCBs were established by using the finite element tool, Abaqus. Tie constraints were used to connect the binding bars and the steel plates. Surface-to-surface contact provided by the Abaqus was used to simulate the interaction between the steel plate and the core concrete. The established models could predict the lateral load-carrying capacity of SCBs with a reasonable degree of accuracy. A calculation method was developed by superposition principle to predict the lateral load-carrying capacity of SCBs for the engineering application. The concrete confined by steel plates and binding bars is under multi-axial compression; therefore, its shear strength was calculated by using the Guo-Wang concrete failure criterion. The shear strength of the steel plates of SCBs was calculated by using the von Mises yielding criterion without considering buckling. Results of the developed method are in good agreement with the testing and finite element results.展开更多

The powders of such steel slag are usually inert to hydrate and subsequently have very low ability of cementing. But when sodium silicates and sodium hydroxide are used as activators the steel slag shows very good properties of cementing. When activated with NaOH solution the hardened slurry of the steel slag has a compressive strength of 11.13 MPa after being cured for 28 days. When activated with Na2SiO3 solution the samples after being cured for 28 days have an average compres- sive strength of 40.23 MPa. While the steel slag slurry which is only mixed with water has a compressive of 0.88 MPa after being cured for 28 days.展开更多

Determining initial pretension values of pre-stressed cables is one of the key problems for a steel mega frame and pre-stressed composite bracing structure.Through the mechanical analysis of the composite bracing unde...Determining initial pretension values of pre-stressed cables is one of the key problems for a steel mega frame and pre-stressed composite bracing structure.Through the mechanical analysis of the composite bracing under vertical loading,the critical factors deciding the initial pretention value were found.According to these factors,a rule for the initial pretension value was put forward.The determination equations were acquired based on the principle of force equilibrium at nodes.The numerical results indicate that the internal force disequilibrium in composite bracings resulted from symmetrical load can be eliminated only in a symmetrical way,so that initial pretention values are decided only by vertical loads.The influencing coefficient leveling method,taking into account interactions between story and story,is accurate and feasible.展开更多
As the environmental load has recently increased, the use of sintered stainless steel for automobile parts is increasing to help weight reducing, high performance and external exposure. Although the low priced pre-mix...As the environmental load has recently increased, the use of sintered stainless steel for automobile parts is increasing to help weight reducing, high performance and external exposure. Although the low priced pre-mixed sintered stainless steel powder parts are used instead of the high priced pre-alloyed powder parts, there have been problems of poor corrosion resistance and high price because the parts are sintered at low temperature due to the change of final part size. This paper describes the alloying process of producing parts having high hardness and corrosion resistance through expanded high concentration chromium on the surface only of sintered steel, which is relatively easier to sinter, using the pack-chromizing technology to improve hardness and corrosion resistance to solve the problem. Notable is the coating where the activated-chromium formed during the pack-chromizing process remains in the coating layer can lower the friction coefficient of the coated layer to up to 0.1. On the one hand, when the hydrocarbon gas was injected so as to promote the chromium-iron mixed carbide formed, the friction coefficient is increased to 0.4 with high hardness values. The thickness of the chromium alloying layer on the specimen can vary at the same temperature and same phase of the coating layer depending on which chromium resource materials (i.e. chromium or chromium-iron mixed powder) is used.展开更多
